  1. with good reason the commissioner was given almost unwavering powers. So that things could be dealt with "in-house" that affected the league like every little DUI, or domestic assault, or saying the wrong thing to the media could be handled internally, otherwise in and out of court given players egotistical personalities being what they are, would be worse for all than having the boss just handle it.

There is little doubt the balls were tampered with,  little doubt Brady knew of it, and  little doubt the Patriots thought they could brush it under the rug, again. I said last year best thing to do was take his 4 game suspension and put this thing in the rear view mirror. But here we are a year later and they are back on ESPN over something they do not want to be associated with.

I "get" that you like some of the "replacement" members that were brought in. I like some of them too - but when all of the original members are alive, healthy and want to be part of this reunion, it just makes zero sense to keep replacements onboard when you can have the real guys who created the music. jmo.

I disagree, what happens when this reunion becomes the disaster it is detined to be, new members should just come running back?

Not sure why Matt gets such a bad rap on this forum.  Does he speak his mind?  Yeah. But, what's wrong with that?

He's actually a pretty cool guy to talk to - and not at all arrogant as some people seem to think.

Matt played a role in GNR's huge success, and deserves to be part of the reunion along with Stevie. He certainly earned that spot - which Frank did not.

I always liked Matt too, not intimately like "cool guy to talk to", but would love to hear that story.. You could PM me you know.

    Agreed.

I think Axl would do a killer job on both Slither and Fall To Pieces.

But, it might be too soon after Scott's death to do this - unless it's a tribute to Scott.

Well look at you all posting and opining again. I'm surprised, pleasantly.

And I wouldn't mind hearing Axl belt out a couple of VR songs either, I never thought a few of their songs ever got the respect they deserved because no one ever sang them with conviction. I would be surprised if Axl did it though, but look, you are posting so anything is possible. What's next, pigs flying? And I disagree that it would be "too soon" after Scott's passing, but agree in that it could be done as a tasteful tribute. Either way there is going to have to be some new music to get me to a concert. No oldies but goodies reunion tours for me, been there. Even Santana has the respect for himself to put out new music before he tours at his age. So here's to hoping something new gets rolled out.

Yeah, it's not bullshit.  How many stadiums did nuGNR sell out on their own?  Thought so.  It's obvious Axl wasn't really making bank on those arena tours trying to sell no name musicians as Guns.  I was at half filled shows.   And those CD songs died a quick death on the radio and charts despite the so called plenty of fans it had.  Even Axl dropped most of them from the setlist because no one was interested.

This band has always been about nostalgia, even while Axl continued his half baked effort to change that.  His willingness to once again play with a guy he called a cancer is a testament to that.  You don't need to be a mullet head to think the best version of this band was the classic lineup.   And liking CD surely doesn't  make anyone cool, edgy or modern.  Seriously, wtf.

    haters gonna hate I guess..

And CD didn't do well because there is no place on radio for Rock Music today. No where, no body.  And who is to judge what good rock music is and what isn't. Except maybe someone, or the era of people who actually know what it means to hear a new rock song and judge it on it's merit. I could list a hundred songs that didn't sound that great the first time or few times you heard them, but after they got air time and were played under conditions at a party, or on the beach, or in a high school parking lot full volume evolved into some of the best classics of all times. And there is an argument, imo, to be made that if anyone was qualified to judge what  good rock music is and what isn't, and I'm still going with really no one is truly "qualified", but IF anyone is it is people who grew up in aforementioned era.. And I say CD is as good an album that has come out , rock and roll album since the early 90's. You can't redefine rock music, you can like something different and that's fine, but you can't call the shit that bands are putting out today rock music.

CD was always just ok for me,  I can take it or leave it, and would prefer anything from UYI played over it.  I always did like TWAT and if there's one song I'd be open to him playing its that one.

I'm confused as to the number of fans who just want to see the 25 year old stuff played again for the sake of nostalgia I guess. And will this tour morph into the likes of a Stones tour with 50 and 60 somethings wearing old faded GNR t-shirts yawning waiting on the 11 pm start.

  8. It's not negativity for the sake of negativity. Some people aren't 19 years old and all giddy over burn outs deciding they wan't some cash in their pockets.

Some waited around for 20 years while they wallowed in their childish attitudes. Some  went through 12 years of promises that Chinese Democracy was coming out any moment.

Some watched Axl pull a no show at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction and had to witness the ear piercing screech of Miles Kennedy trying to do his best Axl imitation.  Or Scott Weiland and his

Anorexic bumbling of songs so classic they were not deserving of that from a band called Snake Pit . I suppose there is always room for a genuine reincarnation, but some believe if they really cared about the music or the fans they would enter into our paying customer loyalty with a collective creativity of new songs of some sort. You know, that silly thing called "music"..  We wouldn't be here if we were not Gn roses fans, and maybe some of the doubt can be removed by a summer of reunion, but excuse us if we don't just suddenly sit up and say thank you for gracing us with your presence oh dear rock gods.

I guess you got tired of trolling the politics thread in Anything Goes so you decided to come here and mess with the fans?  Stop the nonsense already Shades...lol.

For one, G N' R's 3+ million per show payday ends the second Slash leaves the band...that's a FACT.  They will immediately go back to playing smaller arenas, in front of maybe 5k- 10k people..and their pay would decrease by as much as 90% per show.  So if you believe this is a money grab, like you said in your other post, then Slash is in no way replaceable.  So which one is it? Is Slash easily replaceable or is this a money grab?...because it can't be both.  Don't contradict yourself like Trump now, Shades.....

no, actually the title of the thread is "Slash's demeanor" my theory is just that neither party, Slash nor Axl is into this tour in the creative sense. Rock n roll is about the party , and obviously this is not and will not be a party. It's a businees venture. And shame for the "fans"

I saw the original band the original band 4 times, and it was a party.. I saw the new GNR 3 times, not so much, but at least there was a little creativity beforehand with New GNR. This tour is oldies but goodies, like Woodstock II in upstate New York, you just can't recreate what once was. You could give me front row with back stage passes and I would not go.

  10. The problem being imo is that the GNR ship has set sail on a reunion tour and nothing more. Too many years have gone by for this to be anything more than a monetary endeavor. Much like what the Stones are still doing, or KISS, or AC/DC or any number of it's over but lets do it again for the money bands out there. I'd like to be proven wrong, and until I see new music, and certainly until I see or hear some kind of "love for the music" vibe coming from this lineup this is nothing more than a reunion tour playing the oldies but goodies. With these particular personalities  and Slash's "demeanor" expect drama at any time to include the possibility of fans getting their money back for canceled shows, wouldn't advise paying over face value from the scalpers masquerading as a ticket agency.

The thing that I kept thinking about is Axl tried for nearly a quarter of a century to replace Slash in GnR, but simply couldn't, yet here we were with both of them on stage once again.  Clearly, Slash hasn't forgotten that which is why, by all accounts, he played his fucking ass off.

Slash should remember he is easily replaced, and will be again if he doesn't fall in line and stay in line. Just shut up and play

Either way, Obama should fire the idiot on his press team that let him take that photo. Nobody is saying the POTUS can't dance, enjoy other countries culture, and unwind, but perhaps he should exercise better judgment on the images released to the media.

I know that the potus can not be all business 24/7. But in light of the importance in combating global terrorism and all that it is affecting, ie millions of people in Europe left homeless becomming refugess impacting other nations, the biggest super powers bombing each others allies, and then this bombing in Brussels, In my opinion the president should have flew home immediately and gathered with not only his but the European security teams to make sure this wasn't part of a bigger plan unfolding. I know he can conduct business from anywhere in the world, blah blah blah, but at the very least, as you mentioned he should refrain from hot dogs and beer at a baseball game or tango'ing with babes while countries are mourning their dead from terror attacks.

  13. exactly right, if a country was being attacked by American White men who were using their misguided views about Christianity to justify killing innocent people, so they decided to temporarily ban American white men until they got a handle on screening the bad guys better, I would have no problem with them banning me from their country and would fully understand. There has to be a basic understanding of reality here when dealing with possible mass killings

I generally support a non-interventionist foreign policy and think the Iraq war was one of the dumbest things my country has ever done.

So, anyone care to answer my question?

Not likely from this crowd kid.

What is curious is how this terror attack will be addresed on the world stage. It furthers  the argument that the refugee crisis must be addressed by somehow providing that these people can return home, assimilating them into western societies just became harder. Leaders around the world are meeting to discuss just that Except our leader of course, he is at a baseball game with his new buddy in Cuba. On behalf of real Americans, my humblest apologies

It is not easier to pick out the terrorists in Syria than it is in Molenbeek. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the average muslim in Molenbeek is more radical than the average muslim in Syria. Any effort to "just wipe them out" in Syria would most likely only increase the problem by creating even more terrorists, especially through collatoral in that area. There is no quick fix to this problem.

Here's a long fix: We have to continue fighting ISIS in Syria and Iraq the way we are, with the support of local governments, to secure peace in these areas as soon as possible. We must prevent ghettos like Molenbeek from being established. We must be better at integrating immigrants, integrating them in society so we don't have large subpopulations of poor, angry, destitute citizens who don't speak the local language nor understand how our societies work. We must improve schools to prevent the nonsense that they believe in. We must make it illegal to fight in wars outside the country. We must be better at surveillance and prevention. And much more.

Anyone who hides a criminal is a criminal themselves. I am not denying you have a huge problem in Belgium. A lot of it caused by your own failed policies of integration. I still don't think Johnny Drama makes much sense.

The problem with this line of thinking is it doesn't offer any solutions.

"integrating them in society so we don't have large subpopulations of poor, angry, destitute citizens"?................really?  Integrate them into our societies better? So it's our fault?  I've listened to that from liberals in my own country for years and it's starting to make me ill.

Liberal naivity is going to eventually get us all killed. Those "societies" were hiding these people, it's already festering to the point where we just sit and wait on the next attack. Angela Merkel has lost her mind, and the price for the European Union allowing travel in and out of countries at will is coming home to roost.

  16. On it's merit I think the intention is a good one on both sides. I think having a "transgender" bathroom that's set aside just for you would at least cause the same mental issue as them having to use the bathroom corresponding with their birth gender. It would be like an "it" bathroom, further alienating the psychological balance maybe?

Personally I don't think God makes mistakes but that's another argument.
