  1. Really? Who the hell hates Green Day? That's like hating puppies.

Maybe Elton or Brian May or Steven Tyler would've made more sense, but nothing wrong with the biggest rock band of the last 20 years inducting GN'R.

Billie Joe teases the crowd with Sweet Child all the time.

    :violin:

^^half these kids have 5000 posts in 3 months and don't know wtf they're talking about. :rofl-lol: LOL @ them putting words in the mouths of former band members, saying that Slash and Steven didn't support this, blah blah bllah. these are the same types of idiots who talked constant shit about robin a few years ago, and then were jocking him all over these forums when he made the live appearance recently.

  2. I think it's a perfectly fine choice

i can't beleive there are 24 replies, and only 1 or 2 that are positive. y'all are a bunch of fucking crybabies. there must be a lot of folks around here who are bored to death with their lives, because they are CONSTANTLY looking for something - anything - to bitch and whine about.

  3. the problem with this forum in the last few years is that it has become overrun by a bunch of teenagers who have nothing better to do than spend 24/7 acting like fucking adolescents on these forums. Most of these folks are here primarily for the board "drama" that they create - their status as GNR fans is secondary to this.

and just so you kids know, a "meme" is the suject of the funny pictures on the internet - not the pictures themselves. look it up so you don't look so foolish next time.

  4. sometimes I wish the guy would stop with it period, I mean I don't mean no harm to Slash but he knows damn well how this is gonna to have Axl come off as...but at least he's telling his true feelings I guess, even if they make it clear this would be a one time thing, they'll still look at Axl as the one who is soley making it a one time thing or not

LOL, essentially every former member has said they would play, and people like you are still claiming that somehow Axl is getting unfairly blamed for everything going wrong

  5. Yes, continue to make silly posts.

    (I have a PhD btw).

it doesn't matter what you claim to have (lol), it's plainly obvious to all of us that you just sit around doing absolute DICK all day long. way to go, doc.

  6. soulmonster, you really need to find something better to do with your time. you cupcake these forums 24/7, i think you should start paying more attention in school (or are you a dropout)

  7. ^^MSL has done nothing but good for this band. i've always been a supporter of him, although that isn't reflected in the username I'm currently writing under.

(although, i have to admit that I was a bit surprised at his anger towards my relatively innocuous post about Axl's "don't owe anyone anything" statement LOL!)

  8. While it's unfortunate that Axl wasn't comfortable cooperating with the release and promotion of the album, I respect that cared enough about the presentation of the release that he was willing to take a stand and stay home if they didn't address whatever issues he had.

But, now that we're past all that, there's no denying there's been some very encouraging things the last couple of years.

    • In the post-CD era, we've had several tours announced and completed without much incident or cancellations.

    • In the post-CD era, we've had no changes to the lineup, a problem that plagued the band for years.

    • In the post-CD era, the band actually has a website with current information and regular updates.

    • In the post-CD era, we've had multiple concerts streamed live online.

    • In the post-CD era, we've had the returns of Estranged and Civil War, songs many fans had literally BEGGED for.

    • In the post-CD era, we've had Axl sit down for a proper television interview.

    • In the post-CD era, we've seen the live shows expand to mammoth 3+ hour shows with songs from every era.

So while there still may be some things to complain about, there are a lot less than there had been for a long time.

MSL, I completely agree with you. i konw you didn't like my comments re: Axl claiming he doesn't owe anyone anything, but at the end of the day I think we're both on the same side of the fence. great post, and i really admire your posts of support in the last few days.

  9. LOL I live in Calgary, about a 10 minute car drive from Deerfoot Inn and Casino. I haven't heard anything about Axl being there, but I HIGHLY doubt it, it's a pretty small-time casino.

Baz played there in February 2012 though. I wanted to go see him, but he was charging like $60 for tickets LOL. I'd pay $15 bucks to see Baz, but not $60 LOL

EDIT: the guy who Axl thanked in his last twitter is Dave Urner of Pennylane Entertainment, which owns a number of clubs etc. in Calgary. So maybe Axl was in town.

Here is what Dave Urner replied back to Axl's tweet: any time my man! Perhaps a visit with Bubbles this stampede?

  10. But the debate on here isn't about that, it's how the the Axl fanatics on here freak out and use all the (entitlement, demanding, etc) crap.

Well, there are some people here actually saying that they are owed music (=entitled to music), so this isn't purely fiction. So that discussion is at least based on something real, in contrast to your own repetitious claim that you are being attacked for merely wanting new music.

will you please quit putting words in my mouth??? I never said anything about me being owed or being entitled to music. As I've said several times, I was commenting on Axl's famous statement that he doesn't "owe anyone anything." my point was about that attitude and the obligation that those with outstanding abilities have to society. stop twisting what I am saying and trying to make something else out of my words. :fuckyou:

  11. It's a deeply philosophical question where the service to humanity weighs against the rights and freedom of an individual. I disagree with you. Although I would scorn people who throws away gifts that could, say, save lots of lives, although I would not deny their right to chose their own path in life.

but THIS is selfish. without humanity, there is no individual. i think it's up to each person to give back what they can.

i'm not trying to equate this with the following, but this is some good reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism

I am not going to answer for MSL, but I wouldn't be surprised if we agree on the matter: The reason is that you believe that your own desire for music somehow outweighs Axl's personal freedom and right to do what he wants in life. Basically, you are saying that others should adhere to your desires and needs even when it is contrary to their own desires and needs. That is the definition of being selfish.

LOL, I don't have time to argue with you all day, but read my post right above yours. this isn't about me or getting new music, it's about Axl's statement that he doesn't owe anyone anything. and this isn't only about Axl, it applies to everyone.

I'm not shitting on Axl, I've been listening to his music since before your parents met. Anyhow, I need to get back to work now.

  12. You must be an incredibly selfish and self-centered person.

    why do you say that?

    Because he read your post?

what does that have to do with me being selfish? I was only commenting on Axl's statement that he doesn't think he owes anyone anything. I fundamentally disagree with that, and it doesn't only apply to Axl but to anyone with extraordinary skills or talents.

go read some old books, philosophers have been teaching this for thousands of years.

  13. Axl Rose could honestly sit home and disappear and be happy if he wanted to. He doesn't owe the fans anything, none us are "owed" music or a tour.

Axl said something like this once, but IMO that's plain nonsense, and I can't stand when folks around here perpetuate that BS.

IMO, when you have an extraordinary gift like Axl does, you do owe it to people, and you are obliged to share your gift with the world.

I would have little respect for someone who has such immense talent and yet refuses to use it to help make the world a better place for people now and in the future.

Imagine if Albert Einstein had refused to share his work because he felt like he didn't "owe anyone anything." LOL FUCK THAT.

  14. ^^what does being or not being a fan have to do with the fact that the band only delivers on 10% of their promises????

Just because I like the band, it doesn't mean I can't recognize they don't really have their shit together - at all.

  15. Ever Stop to think the site is in its infancy, more will be added

LMFAO riiiiight, keep telling yourself that bud. you do realize that this band delivers on around 10% of their promises. i've been a fan since I was 9 years old (1989) and I've learned to not expect anything from this band. first time I tried to see them (1992) they cancelled the fucking concert becuse Axl's fortune teller told him not go visit any cities starting with an M. so i had to wait 6 months for them to come back.

  16. this was a band that on the surface looked like "they built a world out of anarchy", but that "aura" was part of a brilliant, quite contrived, marketing campaign.

GN'R are pros at this, and have always played the spontaneity card.

I'm sorry, but you're really trying to make something out of nothing here, and these statements are pretty ignorant. The early days of GNR were a result of laziness and drug addiction - not some "brilliant, quite contrived, [sic] marketing campaign" as you put it. the old band could hardly stand up straight, let along be "pros" at being spontaneous. The majority of the band are very, very lucky to still be alive... maybe you should acknowledge what really happened and stop trying to make everyone expect a secret reunion planned by some Brittany-Spears-Type marketing machine.
