I’m gutted - noticed on Amazon.com on Sunday it was only $499 and they were going to charge only $20 shipping to U.K. Even with import duty that was going to be between £400 and £450 - compared to the £659 on U.K. GNR site or £900 on Amazon.co.uk that’s a bargain.

Monday lunchtime arrives and I’m ready to purchase....and it’s gone up to $897!!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

    AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

I have messaged them to ask if this ‘is an error’ based on the fact that the US GNR site retails at $499 (but wants to charge $350 to ship.....) and will see what they say. Gutted - but hope a similar deal appears at Easter or something!!!

I saw that this weekend on Amazon as well. It was on the side when I was looking at something else. I thought, man that is good they are matching the GNRMERCH.com site price. Then this morning when looking at Amazon again it popped up as something I would be interested in and the price was $897.00. I hope you can get one for $500.

  2. So does this mean they are going to make more than 100 of them?

One of the selling points back when we all bought ours, was they were only going to make 100 of them. So now they won't be a limited edition anymore?

I also noticed that in the past when you go to GNRMERCH.com and tried to add 100 locked and loaded box sets to your cart, it would tell you how many more they had left.

Now you can add as many as you want to your cart and it doesn't tell you you can only order xxx amount.

Are they making more Locked and Loaded sets too?

I don't have any right to complain, seeing as I got the mother of all deals on these things. I was just curious.

I would be happy for you but the reality is that the merchant will end up eating all of the loss.  Paypal will pull the money from the merchant's account and on top of that, the merchant will take the loss for all the merchandise they sent you.

I'm not sure there's a difference between what you did and fraud, tbh.

Sorry to rain on your parade.  :shrugs:

My apologies if this rubs anyone the wrong way, but I do not feel bad about this at all. They took my money and then didn't ship my turntable for a month. In that month's time, they didn't respond to Paypal's emails, they didn't respond to my emails except for automatic response emails that said "they were looking into it and would get back to me". If they are going to ignore their customers when they have a problem, then I do not feel bad. If you do a Google search on digitalstores.co.uk (the company that manages musicvaltz and a few other music webstores), you will see the terrible reviews they have from taking customer's money and either never shipping the items, and not responding to emails.

hopefully they will learn to respond to emails in a more timely manner.

Now for they really crazy part: This morning Fed Ex Delivered yet another turntable to me. So now I have 3 of them. One for me, one for my son, and one to sell.

This tells me they still haven't checked their emails from paypal to see that I got a refund.

So the way I look at it: I scammed a scammer and it feels good.

  4. Without boring everyone with the details (you can check out the Locked and Loaded box set for $499 thread in the main discussion forum), I have ended up with an extra GNR Pro-Ject Audio turntable.

I was thinking about selling it on Ebay, but the two that are on there now for $500 and $400 haven't sold yet and are still for sale. This tells me that the demand for these have died down a bit.

Seeing how the Essential III sells for about $350 without the GNR logos, or included acrylic platter, I figured the one for $400 on Ebay would have sold by now. I would like to sell it but don't want to let it go too cheap.

Any suggestions on what it is actually worth? I'm thinking of waiting for the other two on Ebay to end before I list mine with a starting price of .99 with no reserve.

Hahaha!! No way man. I was joking about that happening, but a part of me did think it was possible.

You definitely got the best deal! Your son will be over the moon (and awesome timing!) 😉

    I'm pretty excited.

The really cool thing is, after I got my first GNR turntable (one I bought off ebay), my son just thought it was the coolest thing ever. Then for his birthday wanted his very own turntable and some records.

We had picked out a turntable for him that was cheaper than the GNR one. Now that this one showed up, he of course wants that one. He did make a cool observation. We will have 2 of only 100 of these turntables in our house.

  6. Hello everyone,

I ended up buying a GNR turntable (Pro-Ject audio essential iii) new in box off ebay.

I'm sure I will love the turntable, but by nature I like to tinker/upgrade things. In the future, what would be some worthwhile upgrades to the Essential iii? It already comes with the acrylic platter, would I notice a big difference if I upgraded the cartridge?

I've heard the OP UYIs and I happen to own the Back To Black copies. I honestly think either sound fine, so I'd say just go with the newer pressings @Nodnarb901.

Also, I echo Stiff Competitions thoughts on a turntable. The ATLP120 is a great turntable but you really couldn't go wrong with either turntable.

I have the debut carbon esprit and it is a fantastic table. I upgraded the needle to an ortofon 2M blue, but the 2m red that it comes with is a great needle on its own.

Honestly, if you want to really save some cash, I'd go for the Audio Technica ATLP120. It's a great starter table and has a built in preamp so it can hook right in to active speakers. I always recommend that as an entry level turntable.

I had it for years and loved it and then upgraded to the project table a couple years back.

As for the illusions albums, I have original copies and they are great but will set you back some money. As for the different re-issues that will be a better price, maybe @RussTCB can help you on them. I know I've seen this topic come up before.

Thanks for the help guys. I think to save a few dollars I will look for the back to black Illusion albums.

I think I'm going to go ahead and order the debut carbon esprit (in red). I think being able to play 45's by flipping a switch instead of having to remove the platter would be worth the extra $70 in the long run.

  8. Hello everyone, I recently ordered the Locked and Loaded box set with the turntable deal from musicvaultz.com like a few others here on the site. I got the box set but there is a problem getting my turntable to me. Long story short, if they don't send me the turntable I'm going to use the $$$ they refund me to buy another turntable. I am looking at a Project Audio Debut Carbon. I am a vinyl noob and have a few noob questions.

    1. I am looking to buy the acrylic platter upgrade at the same time. Would it be worth it to just go ahead and order the Debut carbon Esprit SB which would be another $70 by the time I buy the turntable/platter?

    2. I am going to have to buy a cable to connect to my pre-amp. I noticed there are RCAs with a ground wire. Could I use regular (good quality) RCAs, and make my own ground cable, or should I get an RCA with the Ground?

    3. I must own both Use Your Illusion albums on vinyl. What are the best sounding copies? I have heard about the back to black re-releases, should I look for those or try to find first pressings?

    4. How sturdy are the dust covers? I have 3 cats and as most cat owners know, whenever there is something new with a flat surface in the house cats will try to sit on the new flat surface. Two of my cats are pushing 15-20lbs (they are big boys) and I don't want them to crack the dust cover.

Thanks man, we just hope you get sorted as well. They do seem to care, so I'm hoping it will work out. If you are able to call their UK number in the next 4 hours or so, now would be a good time to call as it's 13:25 here now. I wish I could call them for you but I know they asked me loads of data protection questions which I wouldn't be able to answer.

Thank you for the support. I have decided to let Paypal do their thing and see what happens. I'm not going to contact them anymore (have sent quite a few emails). According to Paypal, they have not responded to them when they email them about this. If they don't respond to paypal by Monday, it looks like paypal will refund my money.

Hope @Nodnarb901's situation will be quickly resolved, because outside of that, I don't think any of us can complain about how everything has been handled.
Got the best deal I could ever wish for, thanks everyone for sharing!

    Thank you and me too.

Because they were able to get you guys the discount after the purchase, I’m assuming they they care about customer service. I’m glad most on here got their box set and are enjoying them. I’m not upset or jealous in any way. I’m glad that we all got such a great deal!

No problem, I hope it helps.

It's 21:27 here (not sure where you are sorry), so best to call between 9am and 5pm GMT tomorrow.

Yes the number you put is correct, but add + or 00 at the beginning..

    So +44845027056 or 0044845027056

If that doesn't work, put the 0 back in before the 8 👍 Really hope they can sort this for you.

Thank you for the help. I will keep everyone posted.

This really sucks. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with it. I must admit, when I placed my order, it took so long for them to acknowledge it (which was worrying after paying £500) and the shipping status took forever to change from 'label created', so I too read the reviews on trustpilot as I was getting worried. They also emailed me asking for information and the emails were always from digitalstores.co.uk and they always took forever to answer when I replied.

In the end I called them on +44 08450527056 and they answered saying 'Universal Music'. Try giving them a call and see what's happening with your order. Say you want the turntable, not a refund. You may need to omit the first 0 when calling from outside the UK. Good luck 👍

Thank you for the phone number, I will call them tomorrow (They may be closed or closing right now being in London and I don't want someone working on my problem right before they leave to go home). I have never called from US to the UK before. So dumb question: you said omit the "0" when calling from outside UK. So I would dial: 44845027056?

I'm REALLY bummed this is happening to you man! Please keep us updated on if / what you hear back from them.

Will do. It looks like this happened to a small percentage of the people who ordered, so I am glad that most people got their turntable/box set.

I just checked into paypal's dispute policy and if MusicVaultz/Digitalstores does not respond to them by Jan 21 they will issue me a full refund.

  14. Well I was afraid this would happen.

Now that they are sold out of the turntables, my tracking still shows label created, but not shipped yet. I have contacted them and gotten a response that they are looking into it and will get back to me.

The last time I heard from them was Friday morning. I have been in contact with two other members on this forum in the same situation that I am in. I have opened a dispute with Paypal, on the 11th. They have not responed to paypal yet either as far as what they plan to do.

I googled digitalstores.uk  (this is who processes the order and the name that shows up who payapl paid) and found this review: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.digitalstores.co.uk

It looks like they have had this happen before.

If they can't get me my GNR turntable I paid for, then I am going to want a turntable worth the same as the one they didn't ship me.

  15. I remember the Hype. I was 15 at the time and not quite a GNR fan yet. I remember everyone at school and all of my friends going crazy over getting these albums! The day after they came out, that is all everyone was talking about. I didn't want to feel left out and bought them both the next day. I was hooked after that! I remember Listening to them in order (started with UY1 track 1) and thought they were incredible. When I got to November Rain, I was blown away! Could not believe what I was hearing. What a song!

As much as I like Appetite for Destruction, I like the Illusion albums better.

I don't think you have to worry, both my packages have supposedly been shipped on January 7th, and while the L&L one has been delivered yesterday, the turntable one is still stuck at "Electronic information submitted by shipper" on the Canada Post tracking.

You guys enjoy the opening as I have to wait until the summer to finally get my hands on mine. <_<

Thank you for putting me at ease.

I got a reply from them this morning saying they are checking into it.

The box set is awesome the wait will be worth it.
