  1. Fun read! That is really cool that you waited and he came back down. Good for you. Star struck....Cute.."can I just shake your hand?" (and quick sign these tix stubs...LOL!!) Awesome dude.

Do they realize how they can make someones day, month, year....etc. by a simple handshake. It is nuts.

  2. After 2002, the band were dead to me. The most awful tour possible.

Then, what d'ya know? Axl comes back sounding great, pulls his socks up and hits every single date scheduled. I saw them 4 times in the space of 3 weeks, and I can tell you they blow me away. The best month of my life.

I have one complaint, which is Robin Finck, however that's not enough to really hold down my enjoyment of this band. Bumblefoot and Fortus are great guitarists, and the live show as a whole is tight.

I have to agree with you on Robin. I just can't get into his guitaring. It seems like he just can't play solo's like SCOM or NR correctly. I found that Buckethead had them right to a tee and I remember wishing that Axl would loose Robin and keep Bucket.

Your original post is fuckin' hysterical!

I remeber that day also and was watching it with people who weren't being complementary at all. It killed me! I wanted the band that I love so much not to look like the circus act. I wanted them to pull it off....to succeed....I found myself making things up in my head too. The KFC bucket is an artistic statement.

But now, all the craziness was so distracting that I couldn't truly listen....as we had witnessed...maybe it wasn't such a bad thing after all.

    Great post. funny!

  3. Whatever! Crap!

I get it, i don't want to be ripped off by scalpers either! I don't know about other people here, but I am really busy. I am married, have 2 kids and work. I don't think that leaves a ton of time to "build up my posts". Lets say, there was a counter on my mind, on how many times I talk or think about GnR in a given day....i could give any of you a run for your money. I would be hittin' it out of the park! I am not on summer break!

Back in the 80'd there was no "forum". It is a joke. I'd have a million posts by now!

Basically because of this, when GnR come in my neck of the woods, (and that is WHEN) I will be the one paying the scalpers for the best seats I can get and the cycle will perpetuate. Kinda like I did for the New York shows. SO beause of this I inevitably HELP the scalpers. Not exactly what REAL fans want to do....but hey, what is my other choice?

  4. I don't understand they keep adding dates two by two!!! Doesn't make sense! Sounds like they aren't fully committed to a US tour. If they were confident and totally phyched to do a US TOUR then they would announce it all at once wouldn't that make more sense?

I would like to consider myself a die hard but all this constant checking is rubbing me the wrong way. I would like to know if I need to fly somewhere or are they coming closer!!

    Enough Already!

  5. In my opinion, it is the flight and all incedentals that would go with getting to vegas is the deal breaker. The $150 ticket is priceless if you are going to see them in such a intimate setting. I couldn't grab a flight for less then $300 and was going to stay up for 48 hours just so the whole end price would be less then $1,000 for 2 people.

I am not going based on the price, and that I traveled to see them in New york and scored 2 shows there. So really it came down to spending that much to see the same thing that i already did 2x back in May?? But I would still be having the same problem if tickets were $50 a piece because there are no flight deals. So the price of the tickets isn't what is keeping people away.....at least that is what I think.

    I opted not.

  6. It is September's issue. It has a close up of Clive Owen on the front.

His spread starts on page 384. The article stops and continues on a few times at the farther end of the mag.

This isn't an interview with axl himself. This character interviews hometown (axl's) people/authorities.

IMO it was entertaining. The guy is real descriptive on the moments before "YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE?" blasted out of New York for the first times in years and the energy of the place. Being that I made it to NY for 2 of the shows.....the way he describes it hit a spot for me. Makes you re-live that phenomenal moment.

**For all who gets the mag, the photo shoot right before the Axl one, is hot and kind of an added bonus. :P

  7. Axl looks AMAZING!! That 4th pic!!

Glad to see his jawbone again! Who would have thought a tour is all he needed to get that beautiful face back!

It doesn't matter what he wears. He can pull off anything!

Shouldn't it be 'He can put on anything'? Wouldn't want him stripping, now would we?

Maybe the guys here wouldn't want to see that but us girls??? I am pretty sure that would be of special interest for us. :P

  9. Smokin' coke wouldn't work, unless it was rocks n' then that wouldn't even be coke, it'd be crack. Which would also be 70% baking soda (or powder, can't remember which) n' 30% cocaine.

    lol @ Almost Famous

    dude, I love your honesty.

    I like a man who won't pretend.

You are cool in my book.

    :)

Ha, thanks. ^_^ Someone's got to inform the amaturs on drugs...minus well be me...

Hey as long as you are correcting people.......I am assuming you wouldn't mind being corrected yourself. It is MIGHT as well, not minus well. I don't think it is a bad thing if someone DOESN"T know how you do blow. Just my opinion on the "AMATEURS" here.

  10. No he isn't on the cover and he isn't mentioned on the front either.

I do have a camera HAHA! Don't be jerks. I am technically challanged, if you will. I will see if I can get some help with getting you guys some more info/ pics.

  11. A friend of mine knows how much of a fan I am of Axl so he sent an early copy of GQ (he prints the mag.) to me today! It is roughly an 11 page article. (including pics) I haven't got through it all......the guy who wrote it rambles on a bit. I find it so far pretty interesting. However, anything about him would be to me. So I am a bit bias, but I know from reading the posts that any little tidbit, people love to dissect on this board.

So look for it! I am not sure if it is out in the stores yet...or in your mailbox maybe?? :)

  12. After waiting at the back of many arenas i have finaly met Axl rose!!!

I was at the Birmingham N.E.C last night and thought it was going to be another tale of watching the whole of GnR ride into the sunset - but not lastnight.

About 12 people were waiting at the back of the arena - all the other Gnr members had gone on to the bus and not spoken to the waiting fans ( except for Ron of course) when we saw Axl get into his People carrier car.

This was at 2am and i thought this was it

Suddenly Axl got out of his car and walked towards us - no one could belive it as there was a stunned silence!

Axl meeted and greated evryone there and sighned a few items - one of which my Live like a suicide LP and he sighned it to me!!!

I cant belive it - he was such a nice bloke as well - very approachable

What a night!!!!!!! i met and shook Axls hand!!!!!! (no photos were allowed though , understandable)

What a moment!!!! That is so cool. I can hear your excitment through your post. A bit of luck was at your side last night. AND a autograph! I hate you! ;)

  13. I don't buy it! I find it hard to believe that he had a roast dinner before he came out and that is why he was "late".

NO ONE who has plans to run around on stage would eat a huge roast dinner as this article implies before a concert! Not unless he wants to blow chunks at his fans.

The article says he was 45 mintes late. Isn't that just tardy?

  14. I don't see any evidence of surgery or botox. After growing up in L.A. I would recognize the work. Why do people keep on wanting to insist he has had work done when he hasn't? These are the same people who wouldn't know botox if it came up and injected itself into their ass!

I don't believe he had surgery (or, if he did, it was very minor) - but he definitely had botox or some type of chemical peel. Whatever it was, the treatment was not of good quality - especially if it was botox. He obviously had it done after Rock in Rio, right before the '02 VMAs. His hairline was beginning to recede in '01 (even in his mugshot photo from '98 you can see it) - hence the dreads. I think the problem is he had people around him hyping him up for a big "comeback" in 2002 and someone probably rushed him into getting work done on his face, and it backfired and made him look worse.

From photos I've seen it's clear that whatever was done was concentrated most on his cheekbones. If you look at the picture in this thread you will notice Axl has some wrinkles around his eyes and other portions of his face, but his forehead and cheekbones are very smooth and almost "rubbery"-looking. That's a sign of either surgery or botox (and, as I said, I think it's the latter).

I think Axl is very self-conscious and insecure - and I'm not saying this to bash, I'm saying this honestly due to his actions in the past and his behavior. He said on Trunk that he cares about rumors and keeps up to date with what people are saying - and he has lashed out at the Internet because of what people write about him: another red flag that people talking shit bothers him. It's always been this way, and a lot of the psychological stuff he went through as a child that he discussed in that Rolling Stone interview from '91 (I believe) is probably what made him feel fairly insecure. It's part of why the lyrics for songs like "Estranged" are so poignant and why, despite his "bad boy" image, he appeals to women so much versus another rock star like Vince Neil who is more flashy and gruff and less sensitive. I mean it's part of the appeal of Axl Rose - he's a badass but he's capable of putting out emotional songs like SCOM or November Rain.

So I'm rambling...it's late...but my point is, I think he was very self-conscious before the 2002 comeback and he wanted to look good. People attacked him for Rock in Rio claiming he was "fat" and "balding" blah blah blah....a load of bullshit...and I think this also affected him, and he figured reinventing himself with a new image would be better. I think the reason his face looked so bad in 2002 and it looks far more normal now is because he had work done right before the tour and hasn't had anything done since.

Nicely said.... I think he is just as hot as he was in 91'. Whatever he DID.... or DIDN'T do to his face.... Who cares when the outcome is something like this picture. (obviously meaning the original post :) ) He should really not care. Pick any picture from any concert this year. It is all the same hot factor!

IMO.... he should smile more though. Lots of girls out there are teeth and smile girls. If it is possible, I believe he is even hotter when he smiles.
