    GNR playing Rock in Rio

    According to a posting on elsewhere.com, the organizers of the Rock In Rio (Lisbon) festival have confirmed that GUNS N' ROSES will be headlining the event on May 27. Confirmation is set to appear on the Rock In Rio web site in the next 24 hours.

    In other news, GUNS N' ROSES manager Merck Mecuriadis has reportedly confirmed to MyGNR.com that GN'R are indeed playing the Nova Rock festival in Austria on June 15-17. When asked what other dates GN'R are playing over the summer, Merck reportedly responded, "You will see more if we announce more."

    Also on the GN'R-related front, www.elsewhere.de is reporting that GUNS N' ROSES will play the Rock am Ring festival on June 3-6 in Nurburgring, Germany.

    In a rare interview conducted by Rolling Stone magazine on Jan. 13, GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose promised fans that the band will be back in 2006 with the long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" album.

    "People will hear music this year," Rose said. "'Chinese Democracy' is a very complex record. I am trying to do something different. Some of the arrangements are kind of like QUEEN."

    He also added he is working on 32 songs for the album and 26 are finished out of which 13 will feature on the final album. Some songs include "Better", "There was a Time" and "The Blues".

    Jeez, if everyone is going apeshit crazy over the news of a show appearance... I hate to think what this forum will be like when CD's release date will be confirmed.

    now i just hope there's a late summer/early fall US tour, and i hope it goes ALOT better for Axl&co than the last time around did.

    GNR's reception at festivals

    Axl Rose has become a legend over the last 10 years. Guns music has lived on to an extent that no other band from the 80s or 90s has. But he is a legend because of his reclusivity. Most people have to die young to be considered a legend, and Axl Rose died young, in that he's hardly been seen since the early 90s.

    But now, or when he gets back on the road, he's just another musician plying his trade.

    How do you think festival fans, made up predominantly of those who can't even remember GNR's heyday, will respond to the new band, which is, truth-be-told, a 44 year-old man and a motley group of younger musicians?

    Even though the material that we've hear so far (and espeically the classic stuff) is in another league compared to System of a Down, Green Day, etc, does this matter to modern fans? Will they see it as a 44 year-old man who, at the last outing, appeared to have, rather embarrassingly, lost his live voice?

    Might this be anti-climatic?

    youve made a good point. but i really think axl has put his heart and soul into this record. i dont think he has just been sitting away in hiding for 13years. i think hes really tried to keep in shape and his voice on the new songs seems pretty top notch. i know what you mean by saying that the old gnr fans arent interested anymore. my dad is the perfect example. but because it is probably the most anticipated album of all time, it probably wont matter anyway. good post though. :P

    Time to set a few things straight.

    Some of the comments towards Lisa have been way beyond respectfull, but Little Lisa should also get a few things straight.Guns N Roses ( her husbands employer ) are a huge part of many peoples lifes.The house she lives in, the cars she drives, the money in her bank has partly been put there by me and millions of other fans so instead of asking for respect maybe the band and thier sound pieces should show us some respect.We have ben patient and to hear her say its just a bit of patience is insulting.

    Lisa Reed is not a member of GnR, her husband is, maybe she should remember that.

    The whole thing has resulted in some fans feeling like and being treated like criminals-which is a disgrace considering the loyalty and patience we have shown to this band and in perticular her husband and his misleading comments ( maybe not deliberate but still misleading ).

    GnR the band, the machine needs to take a long look in the mirror and see how they treat the fans.

    I honestly understand the point of this being a mans life work but unlike Lisa and people connected to GnR we get scraps once in a blue moon and more often than not from sources not directly connected to them-Dont be surprised when we snap up those scraps.

    chinese democracy (obviously). IRS and better would have been, but due to recent events, hes probably got rid of them. madagascar, a very special song. i like oh my god but im doubting because its already released. silkworms is but its terrible. rhiad is different, so that will be on there. the blues is superb and i'll eat my hat if it aint on there. theres even rumours of bohemian rhapsody...
