14 Years Of Silence

It would be really great to hear about how Beta and family saved Axl. We know so little about what was going on with Axl personally leading up to Rio, mostly from the Rolling Stone interview, but we really haven't heard anything from Axl. I think if we knew that story, everyone would have a greater appreciation for them.

The day it all ended was Aug 27, 1989, the day Izzy took a piss on the floor of a plane.

I think you guys are all too hard on Axl regarding the person he was or has become. Honestly, he's not out there enough for us to judge. Probably shouldn't judge in the first place. But to me, with the little glimpse we get into his life, he seems happier than ever. He admitted as much with Eddie Trunk. I've tended to think that part of the reason we don't get new material is because he no longer has the fight in him to deal with the bullshit that surrounds that endeavor.

Axl is certainly gifted but he unfortunately didn't have what it takes to sustain what he started. Billie Joe Armstrong makes a good point in their documentary Quatro around how bands who take long breaks don't come back as good and that you have to keep playing and writing to stay on top of your game. For all we know, Axl hasn't written anything new in 10+ years. He's given up on the industry, basically a defeated man. Tragic really.

I just hope Axl finds more inner peace. It will lead to greater things.

Actually, I think Axl has found inner peace, and that is the reason we haven't seen new music. Clearly the process for Axl of getting Chinese Democracy out was difficult to say the least. One could argue how much of the challenges were Axl's own doing for being a stubborn SOB, but it seems pretty clear as others have said that Axl, Beta and family put his well being before anything else. I think we have to face facts that Axl doesn't feel the obligation to please the fans if it means either "prostituting" himself and his convictions or taking on the stress and bullshit that comes with the territory. Hopefully one day he finds a way to release, and even better, to create, new music in a way that is satisfying to him both personally and professionally.

Therefore, my wish for 2014 is 1. Vegas Residency Blu-Ray and 2. announce that they are working with the label on the plan to issue CD2.

Lots going on over the last week. Taking it all in and now I'm just pissed. One person leaks a track and all the devoted fans have to pay the price? This is just after Pitman basically said that they had to plans to release an album anyway. Honestly, why am I even interested in hearing new music from them when none of them seem to care? Usually that means the music sounds like shit anyway when you stop caring.

Shame. Good luck in the future.

My mind races, can't stop thinking about GN'R and CD...can't imagine it being released without knowing about it in advance, can't take it anymore. I need medication.

I doubt he'll say anything interesting, he doesn't have the authority to answer interesting questions (release date of CD, who is the new guitarist etc) or more than likely... he doesn't even know the answers to these questions anyway. He'll probably just say he's excited about the whole situation with GnR and it's moving forward well, but you'll have to wait and see. To be honest though, I don't blame him. If he said anything, Axl would probably fire his arse.

I'm hoping that we will get our first piece of the puzzle from Dizzy himself. While I don't expect him to completely let the cat out of the bag, he may give us more of a clue as to GN'R's plan and some idea of a timeframe for CD. Plus, the fact that he is doing an interview in Philly could most certainly mean that he will say something about what happened. Also, hopefully he can dispell the reunion rumors. Why not give this duty to Dizzy? Dizzy has been Axl's most loyal bandmate. Looking forward to this.

I don't think Axl is inventing anything new with regard to what you call bipolar songs. What about System Of A Down? Their music is all over the place.

i've been lurking hear and at HTGTH for years, checking everyday for some news...this has been a great year so far and this is only the very beginning.

I'm going to have trouble sleeping tonight...its a great song.
