  1. Not bad :)... that Electro song is kinda like "Better meets Pills, Demons & ETC ". Also that end solo is good. Sounds cool, man!

Yeah lucky I got that one out actually. I mixed it down and then figured that would be all I need to do so I save over last file and then checked and it mixed down with no sound so I had to go back in archive I take each audio track I recorded and match them all back up lol.

The solo I tried messing around lots of things but then at the very end just said fuck it I'll play a solo repeating melodic piece and that's how it's staying.

All the guitar is ran through amplitube, I used a slash AFD amp for the entire song on one track and the layered guitar is a mesa boogie which comes and goes in certain parts. The solo was the AFD amp with an OD pedal.

Thanks for the props lol The next song I'm gonna attempt is going to be acoustic. Kind of country, sotuthern rock sounding!

  2. I'm doing my own recordings, just started. Have played for many years but am pugging some beats in and trying to write some rocky instrumentals. My latest (2nd song is called Electro and I just posted it here..

Band camp has the lossless high quality recordings but my other pages are probably more interesting. like me if you like me :P

  3. Just listened and Axl really sucked at this gig. But everyone makes mistake, he's messed up a lot of lyrics in his day but always seemed to bounce back. On this night he couldn't do it and he really, really lost his confidence. Every professional messes up, vocalists, guitarists, pro sports players but usually figure out ways to bounce back. Axl really got down on himself. I think it's foolish to sit here and tear him apart over it. I feel pretty bad for him.

  4. You seem to only focus on the negative aspects of Slash, but you should never forget that you only wrote three songs on AFD. Who wrote the rest of the music ? ;)

I still think after reading your explanation that keeping the name is a rip-off both towards your former bandmates and the fans.

    As Izzy said it:

How do you feel though knowing it's being said as a Guns N' Roses album?

Izzy: "Well, it's obviously not Guns N' Roses. I think all the fans know that. It's not even right that he uses the name, because he's the only guy left. I think ultimately it's gonna work against him because people are gonna say fuck you, wanker - that's what they'll call him here, right? 'You fucking wanker, that's not Guns N' Roses!' Hopefully, the maniac's good, cos if the music isn't good then he's gonna get the double-whammy..."

"In Guns N' Roses, I would come up with an idea for a song and the first thing that would always happen was Slash getting hold of it and going chunka-chunka-chunka!" He hacks out a blur of agressive riffs. "I'd be going, OK, it's already changed a little bit. Then Axl would come in and go, 'We've gotta do more lyrics, we've gotta have more vocals, more back-ups, let's layer this'. So by the time it was finished it was like, holy shit! What a monster!"

Guns N'Roses was the sum of you, Slash, Izzy, Steven and Duff. That's something you will never be able to change in most of GNR fans' hearts.

That's a great Izzy interview. I'd be more inclined to believe Izzy over anyone else in the band.

Izzy changed his tune a lot when he started hanging around with the new band and Axl. And commented he liked the songs he heard before it was released.

  5. Axl i honestly believe you have no reason to talk shit to us. I honestly do hope you feel better getting that out. It must have been fucking hard to do.

I'm fucking pissed that i paid money to meet $la$h, Duff and erm Matt.. I was nice to meet my heroes but to me they are no longer heroes. I've seen another side today and i will remember that forever. I always believed deep down there was more to it but it became hard to believe in yourself and GNR when nothing happened for years. I can only imagine how shit it all was for you. Bring on the future!

    Merry Fuckin Christmas :xmasssanta:

It's really cool that Axl answers questions from fans, really. But you don't have to drink his words like a blind sheep...

"$la$h" ? Why the fuck do you write his name like that?

Slash, Duff, Izzy, Matt, Buckethead, Finck, Brain, and probably others that I forget, all left the band....they're all evil? I don't think so...

Fact: they all left because of one guy......

Anyway, it's really cool that Axl gives us his side of the story and I hope he'll continue posting.

    Fact: One man ALWAYS stayed.

Not to necessarily blame people who left, but if there's this person all the time,it's juct bcuz he wanted this more, thus deserves more.

You're comment doesn't make sense to me. You're an ass kisser.

Finck, Buckethead and Brain left for completely different reasons however. Izzy never wanted to be in a big blown up band, he's acknowledged that and Matt was great on the Illusions albums but I just can't count him.

  6. That was a great read. Nice to see your end of the story and share it with your fans. Not many celebrities to take the time to explain everything on a message board directly to their fans.

To be honest I love both you and Slash. It sucks everything went dry for your guys way back in Halifax in the 80's as you said since that's where I'm from haha.

You have my backing 100% backing with the new gnr. I was skeptical at first until I seen what you guys could do in 01 and then when you guys became so tight in 06 with Robin and Ron and everyone.

And I think it's important you don't worry about what a few "fans" say in reaction to you. There's always going to be the few fans that are going diss on you no matter what. But just know there is a lot of us GNR fans that are going to be behind you no matter what and you'll see us at all the concerts.

Anyways I hope to see you guys sometime in the new year in concert or on tv!

  7. I think this might actually be happning now, the cd is ready folks, maybe maybe not but I think yes!

    Gunsguy

I say we get a Friday press release the Guns camp. If not, it will then be safe to worry.

No because as long as they don't tell us it's not happening I'm heading to Best Buy on November 23rd

  8. It really is an international hit single waiting to happen. Neo-soul rock songs are doing well at the moment and this song has that epic James Bond sweep which even non-GNR fans will like.

I think it is about as odd as GNR pulling November Rain out after AFD and it might be a risk but it could also really be the business.

if you can get past the 30 seconds. I love Axl Rose's voice, but I cringe in the beginning. It flat out sucks. Sounds like Adam Sandler doing an impression or something. The rest of the song is great, but you know how songs need to "hook" you in...well no, not this one.

I just cant believe that is what they came up with, that just sucks, and everyone I have talked to has said it sounds pretty lame, including the three other people I went and saw the movie with.

Rest of the song is great though..

I don't get how it sucks? Axl is show casing amazing vocal range.

And I honestly don't care what a few of your friends "say".

I love Axls voice and I consider him to be the best lead singer in rock n roll, at least his generation, but that chorus sounds awful. I like the rest of the song, when he gets his voice lower.

There may have been a time when he could hit that note, which is why he refuses to let it go, but he doesn't there. I am not tone deaf, you can barely even discern what he is saying. He is singing the verse with very little musical accompaniment, slowly and I still wouldn't bet my drinking money he is saying "If da wall".

Listen to it, you can barely differentiate the syllables. Not to mention the pitch. Which is way off. Great musicians can make mistakes too. Don't take it personally.

Axl is show casing amazing vocal range.

Just not in the beginning of that song, and unfortunately it turns people off.

    edit:

And I honestly don't care what a few of your friends "say".

    why would you?

Yes in the beginning of the movie. I can see your argument if he was hitting off notes... But he's not. Funny I used the your friends piece cause the 7 or 8 friends I showed the song had good things to say about it. They said it's different, but good. To each there own. But to flat out say "it sucks" is very closed minded and pre-mature, especially if you pose as an objective music fan.

especially if you pose as an objective music fan.

how can I be objective and not say what I am thinking. Me saying it sucks is the essence of being objective. What the hell are you trying to say?

And I am not a mechanic, but if my car stops running for no reason I know it broke down. I dont have to be a singer to know that intro makes me cringe. And btw, I am not the only one on this forum who says it missed, and missed badly.

I'm sorry but as a musician or musical mind you can;t say something that is musically sound "sucky" The taste of it may not be your style. And to be honest this song isn't really in my typical "taste" but this song is musically sound, good singing, good build up as the song progresses. And to say Axl's Vocals are "sucky" Is musically in-correct. Like I said that just means you don't like the style in which he is singing it. To say "I'm not a big fan of the tone" would be more correct.

But I find it odd coming from a GNR board to be complaining about Axl's HIGH vocals. The reason it may stick out to you is because it's at the TOP of the mix, which usually is not the case in GNR songs. AXL is always out front, but rarely to this extent, but I think the point of that is to GRAB you right from the get go of the song. The song is very unique and creative. And that is not debatable.

  11. I almost started to believe that it wasn't that good after reading all the negative posts but hearing it on the movie just made me think this is a great song again. Bam straight into the chorus, it's almost like it was written for an outro of a movie. It's an undeniable song, it's like it has always existed but it's new. Total classic if you ask me. If they don't put it out as single they would be insane.

The best part is when the chorus plays the 2nd time when the guitars kick in.

  12. It's funny how everybody has a completely different opinion.

Worst songs I think are Rhiad, Shackler's Revenge, Silkworms.. I really like IRS, Madagascar, The Blues, TWAT, etc.

GNR albums are always like that. On Appetite you get the kids who love the pop songs like Paradise City, Sweet Child O Mine, Maybe WTTJ. But they may not like Out Ta Get Me, It's So Easy and My Michele. That caters more to the metal and punk fans. And on the Illusions albums it's even more diverse.

  13. i work at best buy in montreal and i looked in the RSS system , i didn't see anything and none of the managers had heard anything

maybe its not exclusive in canada?

To my knowledge, it's not. But also maybe they just don't update as quick as the US.

  14. You guys are too funny lol. It's a Led Zeppelin vibe, vocally.

Like really have you guys listened to many GNR songs? How many songs does AXL just RIP the high pitched flaseto vocals in some songs and just belted it. Especially on the Illusions albums, there are songs he sings you just have to step back and go wow.
