  1. Hey, I'm as excited as you all that this Chinese Democracy really seems to be coming out soon, and the commercial is proof of that- that's the good part (even though the snips they play of Better don't show any changes to the song, which I thought still needed some work from the version leaked, but I digress...).

Maybe I am old school, but I feel like artists shouldn't just prostitute their work to sell products, and I was disapointed to see that this is the FIRST thing AXL did with the new material! I expect that from poptarts and rappers, and for Michael Jackson to piss off Beatles fans by selling their songs to commercials, but not Gn'R. And I know that Led Zep and the Who have both done it to, and to be honest, they disapointed me when they did it, but at least it was 30 years after their songs came out (though I still wish I didn't think of a car each time I hear "Bargain.").

Anyways, anyone agree with me here? I just think it is selling out to give new songs to commercials.

    Pubes.

I think the whole "selling out" thing is so stupid. Let me ask you a question. Why do you work? TO MAKE MONEY! Sure, I get the whole artist thing, but some "artist" decide that there worl is worth money and I personally want gnr to be heard by as many people as possible. People on this board make me laugh, 1st they are pissed because there is no marketing, than gnr team up with a an american icon, new people will hear new music (MARKETING) and people are still bitching? unbeleivable

  2. This thread, including the original post and all other posts made in response, is probably the smartest thread I've seen in a long long time. For the first time EVER, every post at least hints at the absolute insanity of how there can be NO middle ground in the old GNR/slash vs. New GNR/Axl debate....too bad every member can't read this thread and take it to heart.

Thank You, It is nice to see that alot of people on this board can agree to like ALL of gnr. Realize that old gnr is why there is new gnr. Can actually like slash without being told to grow your mellot and go back to the 80's, and know that he was a HUGE part of the evolving band, and yes actually like this new gnr and now support them as we supported the old back when.

  3. This topic kind of goes along with kaneda's latest post, but I feel it needs a seperate thread. Why does someone always state this "axl dont owe us anything". That is so stupid. No one owes us anything, If you come to visit me at my job, I "owe" you want I claim i do. So, if Axl is an artist, does he "owe" me anything? No! But, i expext him to deliver what he says he is, an artist, so deliver music. I really dont think coming to these boards and being pissed off cause axl refuses to release an album, or axl wanting us and more importantly the general public to support this new gnr, then doing nothing himself to help his cause helps matters either. Some people on these boards get so mad when reviews compare old to new, but come on, be realistic, Axl keeps saying this is a new band, but plays old songs. Yes, I understand, When I see them in Cleveland this year, he better play the classics, but if this is the chinese d. tour, then he better be supporting the new album by then. Some people on these boards act like if you say 1 negative thing about this new band, you dont support them? Let me give an example, I am A huge Pittsburgh Steeler fan, belong to the message board site, do you think after the way they have played this year, they dont get bashed every week? YES! Does that mean I along with all the other fans all of a sudden dont support them? NO! Same with this board, when certain people (Kaneda, for example) post certain things, I never see them as bashing, most things he says are 100% correct. Bands release an album than tour to support it, it is that simple. It is the love and support for this band that drives these post, we all want to see axl succeed, and maybe there is a master plan, but until it is revealed all we have is the past, and we all know how well it has gone up to this point. All these post that piss some of you off could go away so easily by just one simple thing happening. Just release the album!!!!!!!

  4. I love this idea, always thought it would be cool. If Axl had no plans for this new band, then I think now would be a good time to release a box set of unreleased songs, bootlegs, and demos. BUT, imagine years later, after the new band has success. Now, he can release a huge box set, from the beginning to the present. It would celebrate all members of gnr, so people old and new could remember and or gain a new appreciation for the old and the new band. It would be packaged in a huge gun case:-)

  5. and if Slash was playing on it, many more would agree imho.

    UK SUBS.

Sad, but very true. . .

    LA

What fuckin' rubbish! Buckethead is a far more talented guitarist than Slash is. Why wouldn't people prefer to have the combined work of two musical ''geniuses'' like Axl & Bucket. I think that after the album is released Buckethead will rejoin Guns N' Roses.

Please, all the music you claim to like as a gnr fan is by slash. Talent or not, the majority of fans dont want to see a freak with a bucket on his head on stage with axl.

  6. I am worried too, and heres why. The other day, I was on ticket master, found 2 great floor seats. 75$ per ticket. Was just about to buy them, then thought 'WHY?" I figured, by the time i bought plane tickets, and a room in reno, plus meals, I would have the cost of a small vacation. Now, I would do that in a heartbeat, but,

    I sat back and thought:

    1) I have seen this show already (2002)

    2) New band, but sings old songs (at least a re-union would be a reason to go, I mean, if I want to hear the old songs, at least lets see the people who wrote them)

3)If there was an album, a single, just a REASON,for me to spend all this money.

This "TOUR" has every reason to fail. No promo, no album, no single. And the little bit I do see, says "gnr are back" really? so if I am the typical 33-40 year old who still remembers what it was really like to see them, but dont really follow these boards, I spend the money, and see only axl? This shit does not work in the USA.

You either market yourself, with a product, then tour, or you have re-union tours. Those are the choices. If you have a bunch of guys playing other peoples music, we call that a cover band.

  7. another year nearly over and fuck all news, seems a few folk are pissed about this and i totally agree this band has done absolutely fuck all for there fans, even you lot that praise him in anything he does, well if the album aint out by the end of the year ive fucking had it with this band, aye they tour but touring for what? It isnt to kepp the fans happy, it to make some fucking money, and the fact all these players are making money off other peoples hard work. Im sorry but gnr is fucking dead this is just a poor excuse of a band that used to be the biggest and most exciting band on the planet, fuck the mystique just drop the album or fuck right off and be a hermit again do us all a fuckin favour.

what do you lose if your with this band or not. the problem is people expect that these bands owe them somthing these days.

Thats stupid, Iam sick of hearing that. Nobody thinks this band or any band "owes us anything" But, you see, bands play music, make albums. If this new gnr is a band, that us fans expect this. Maybe once everyone quits again, axl can hire you, me, and a few others and we can call ourselves the band gnr. We will never really do anthing, I play the drums, and I must say, I can play matts and stevens parts pretty good. Does that make me gnr?

  8. its very simple, we already seen this show in 2002, why go again? Fot the 10000000000000000000 time, Just be a band, release an album (of new original material) and tour with it. EVERY OTHER band has this concept down and it works fine.

Axl wants this album to be the biggest and best and it will kill his ego (a little) if it doesnt go over well, i think hes just stalling for that reason. but damn the new songs that ive heard are good- come on already Axl.

I agree with you, and that makes it even worse. These new songs are good, and if they are just a taste of what is to come, than this is going to be a very good album. But the longer he waits, the more people are going to expect something that cant be delivered.

  9. its very simple, we already seen this show in 2002, why go again? Fot the 10000000000000000000 time, Just be a band, release an album (of new original material) and tour with it. EVERY OTHER band has this concept down and it works fine.

  10. Well, it's the opener on my fantasy Chinese Democracy.

Well, despite this, I still don't think Oh My God will be on the album. Neither will Dust in the Wind and Crash Diet.

Anyway, I think the title track would be a great opener.

Dust in the wind? crash diet? How about "too much too soon"?, "just another sunday"? Come on man, these songs are 20 years old, they will DEFINETLY be on no album EVER!

  11. You guys are over thinking this again. It will be just like before thos tour. We are on these boards daily, basically talking about nothing (his weight, clothes, beard, hair). Then, all of a sudden, there is 40 tour dates listed almost in 1 week. The same will happen with this album, I love all this "they have to give us a single by such a date, for this to come out by that date. Not going to happen! One day, out of no where, there will be a release date. Look, 4 years go by and nothing, then he decides to do all these dates? No one, and I mean NO-ONE can be that stupid and try to tour USA with no cd AGAIN! They are on tour for a reason folks, if was just to play old music, then they should just re-unite the old guys and play an old tour. That would sell better, at least here in the usa!

  12. I remember sitting in my parents basement watching mtv. They said, "here is the latest from gnr" I think they still called them world premiers. They played sweet child, as soon as the song ended, i thought it was the best song I ever heard, I still feel that way today. I ran upstairs borrowed mom's car and went and bought afd.

  13. We've heard AXL say it would be out this year, he is touring, speaking public, "looks happy" out on stage, is he ready to finally release this thing? lets hope he stays true to his word and releases this darn thing. however, what if it doesn't come out as promised by AXL? Do you think the press will tear him a new one and never give him a chance again? and what from the fans? how will you fellow gunner fans react to yet another year of dissapointment and letdown. i mean yeah it's cool and all he his on tour again, but would you rather hear Appetite being toured again or CHINESE DEMOCRACY? He must at some point start playing new songs on a more regular basis.

To be honest I'm fine with it either way. Reason is that GnR press release saying the band played nearly half (6 songs) of Chinese Democracy during their NYC shows. Madagascar, Chinese Democracy, TWAT, IRS, Better and The Blues. So we've already heard half of the album. I'm not gonna die if the remaining 7 songs don't come out this year. It would be nice. But at this point, at least (after 6 years of waiting) we have a pretty good idea what the album sounds like.

Bottom line is, even though the leaked demos are incredible, in the end it's just an album. 13 million and 10 years of recording don't change that fact. Unless it's as grounbreaking and revolutionary as Nirvana's Nevermind, Appetite For Destruction, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Are You Experienced, Led Zeppelin IV, Sex Pistols Nevermind The Bollocks, Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon and other legendary rock recordings, Chinese Democracy will join the ranks of the thousands of other albums that rank as "great" but won't make Rolling Stone's Top 100 albums of all time list.

That bad thing is that Axl (and Geffen) have built this album up to the point that it's bound to disappoint not matter how amazing it is. How could it possibly live up to fan's expectations?

They have what, 32 songs? How does anyone know if THOSE songs will be on the album?

What does that have to do with anything? 32 songs? Pick 13-15 and release the damn thing, should not be that difficult. Bands are doing it everyday.

  14. If it's not out by the end of their US tour, if they come through with one, its never coming out, and we all just participated in a legendary "boiling points" show for MTV.

let me tell you something, If it is not out BEFORE the us tour, there will be no US tour! That was tried and failed in 2002.

  15. It's kind of funny isn"t? You mention slash, and some retard tells you to "get out of the past", Well, Maybe axl should "get out of the past" and get on stage at a resonable time. This is the LAST chance, fuck this tour up, and we will NEVER see the album or this new band again!

  16. I think it would make some sense (if anything in the world of GnR makes any sense these days) that theyd put out just an EP(4-6 tracks) this year as a taster to see the public reaction. If critics and fans alike would be dissapointed, Axl could always talk it off by saying it wasnt an actual album. This would also give them an opportunity to "perfect"(again) the final album. Besides an EP could be sold at a cheaper price than a full-length, and thatd most definetely increase the sales(= better chart position btw...). As we all must understand "People will hear music this year" doesnt have to mean a full-length album or CD... And since its 20 years from GnR´s first release(which was also an EP), in the middle of all these different conspiracy theories itd make perfect sense to me if theyd put out an EP this year. Besides thatd add some symmetry to GnRs career... :P

I dont think that is a good idea at all. It is time to get this album out, if an ep comes out, then we will have to here "12 years and only 5 songs?" You guys have to understand, not everyone is going to like this album, Period! Not everyone likes AFD. These excuses about perfecting are getting old, along with axl, and the rest of us. When it comes out, we as fans will appreciate it, for what it is, an album by one of our favorite lead singers. Dont kid yourself, there will be negative comments, WHO CARES! My favorite team finally won the superbowl this year, and people still tell me they suck. Oh well, that is there opinion. Axl doesnt have to prove himself anymore, they album one of the greatest albums ever. I think at this point in his life, he can do what ever makes him happy. There are some that will want him to fail, no matter how good CD is. I just want to here this thing, because I know that I, along with most on this board will appreciate it!

  17. fuckin right fella! Reunion is not going to happen, and personally I don't want there to ever be a reunion. The current line up of gnr is fuckin amazing, and in six months time I would bet my mortgage that most people will prefer it!!

    That would just be stupid

Tell me, why would that "be stupid". Accept the fuckin past fella and enjoy the present. You want the previous line up, stick UYI on your stereo. Stop insulting the current line up by intimating that a reunion would inevitably be better. Sorry, it would not! Fuckin fact.

And your basing this "fact" on?

  18. Hopefully, this is true.

There's no need for a reunion.

what a dumb thing to say

    stop living in the past

What a dumb thing to say. Remember this, the past is why there is such great interest in this new project.

Until we get an album from this new line up, the past (and a few leaks) is all we have

  19. Hopefully, this is true.

There's no need for a reunion.

WHATEVER! you are in the minority on that one. I want to here the new stuff also, but fans deserve to see one of the greatest bands back together one last time.
