  1. Has any other gnr album divided the fanbase than CD?

No. Mostly because in the past 20 years CD was the ONLY album GnR put out and before that there was no online fanbase to divide.

Certain "fans" were butt hurt over UYI.

I am old enough to remember that.

Except that happens on EVERY album released by EVERY band. No album has every pleased 100% of the band's fan base.

Also the term "butt hurt" isn't accurate.

Not liking an album doesn't mean you are butt hurt. It means that you simply don't like an album.

If you - volcano - don't like an album does that mean you are butt hurt by it?

Yeah, butt hurt isn't the right term here, but they certainly lost fans when they strayed into bombastic piano epics. Unlike CD though, they probably gained more new fans than they lost.

  2. Definitely communication and lack of a grand plan. Blame away, but if you're gonna do that give us details or don't bother.

There are things they could do to energize the fanbase that have nothing to do with record labels. Get Axl online every once in awhile, drop an alt/remix, commit at least getting an album in the can whether or not there are label issues. Assume that most of the fan base that takes the time to follow them does so for a reason, and that reason isn't just to complain.

  3. This band is so fucking frustrating. Why is it so damn hard for them? I bag on Slash all the time, but at least he knows how to:

    Give interviews

    Make TV appearances

    Do live streams that work

    Update Twitter

    Keep fans informed

    Release music

Tour without playing the same set each night

    Release DVDs of concerts

The social media thing is sore spot with me. I get really bothered by the way the GN'R Twitter account is handled.

Yeah, not nearly enough updates on Taylor Momsen for my tastes.

  4. Slash wears a wig. I thought this was common knowledge.

It's certainly a common rumor, which turns into truth in the GNR world real fast. But is there any real proof?

There are plenty of pictures of him on holidays with his hair tied back. It's thinning a little and he probably dyes it but I don't think he wears a wig.

    Exactly.

  5. Great to see bbf shooting from the hip, even though that toxic environment within the band was really sad to read about.

Also worth noting that the person ultimately responsible for bumble's mental health is Ron himself. If the tour's gonna make you suicidal, don't go on it. No paycheck or public exposure is worth that.

Just find it a bit hypocritical that he put himself through the ordeal of touring post-accident and now says he wishes he was dead. For christ's sakes, it's just fat Axl and a bunch of 20 year old songs he'd already played hundreds of times. Take a break and get healthy!

I think he's just a "worker". Despite the physical harm, working might be what's keeping him sane. He seems to feed off the energy of the fans as well. It could be that not working would put him in an even worse mental space.

  6. I found the 3 year hate fascinating, but additionally, he tried to drink himself to death in '11 and talks a lot more in detail about just how much pain he was in after the accident. He was fucked up on drugs and is permanently messed up now, partly because he toured through the injury. Totally fascinating stuff. He also says if he had one wish it would be that the lady that drove into him had finished the job. :( Super sad. Ron's a great guy, I hope he continues down the healthy path he's on right now.

  7. I think he's got a true second half of his career ahead of him if he wants it bad enough. Bowie, McCartney, Plant have all shown that you can have a major creative bloom in the later years of ones career. Axl's GOOD enough to have that, too. But obviously it's ENTIRELY up to him.

If Axl wants to have a career like Bowie, McCartney and Plant, he's going to need to stop calling himself Guns N' Roses. We've seen how that worked out.

Maybe yeah. I totally get where you're coming from. But I honestly don't know how much of the name issue is truly stubborn pride, or marketing, vs. legal. I've always wondered, once he got control of the band what happens if he just calls it quits? I'd imagine record label lawsuits up the ass. And as for going solo, I'll bet he can't even legally do that until he meets his GNR obligation to the record company. What I truly want to know is, does he even have a CHOICE at this point with the name thing? If not, when was the last time he truly did? Before he took over the name? 99? I don't know.

  8. He might be out of shape but I don't know shit about his lifestyle beyond what we all know. And everything that's followed from that info has been nothing but conjecture. 64 seems WAY pessimistic to me, but hey we could all go at any time so who knows?
