  1. Robin Finck is the lead guitar player.

I rest my case. I'm yet to hear any of Finck's guitar work with NIN so i can't really picture him taking on Slash's cannon of work. In a best case scenario the notes might be there but the feel and emotion certainly won't be... :rofl-lol:

Anything Scott can do, Axl can do.. But Scott can't pull off everything Axl does.

Could you perhaps direct us to the STP/VR songs that Axl has sung so we can compare? Or perhaps you are vocal coach for both and have evidence to back this up...

and i think axl's voice kicks ass on 'oh my god'

That about sums you up kid. :rofl-lol:

  2. hey noobie.. i know you are still new here and don't really know much, but its not gonna happen. Axl and the band are fine as it is.

Noobie? Says the kid who's been into G'n'R for what 5 years outta twenty? How do you actually KNOW this kid? Are you involved with Axl, Slash or the band management???????

How can the band be fine as they have NO confirmed lead guitar player... newsflash:- Buckethead left.

I do agree on Purple, and Core was good too.. but you can't compare the two singers, completely different leagues.

Actually as a FRONTMAN Axl is better, but as a SINGER I would say Scotty has the better voice. I dig them both but that's the reality. Axl sounds like a squawking parrot sometimes, i'd hate to be mixing him on solo in the studio  Go take a listen to 'Oh My God' or 'Garden of Eden' for example then get back to me.

  3. Nice. Still waiting for the forthcoming Slash statment, maybe they took it down as Slash is about to put up his own official word on the subject. Watch the VR site.

The only statement Slash needs to make is with his Les Paul, beside Axl kicking out the jams as was always meant to be. That's what every true fan wants, and by the sounds of it this could be on the cards judging by some of the rumors floating about right now. rock1

With regard to Scotty Weiland. YES he was outta line flappin his yap in an open letter to Axl, but this guy is certainly a great front man and a good songwriter/lyricist too. Some of you kids would do well to suck up your immature hating and go check out some of the great music he put out with Stone Temple Pilots. The sophomore album PURPLE is an all-time classic. rock3

  4. I'm not comparing GNR to MC and suggesting MC is at all as good as GNR. My point is that MC went out and put themselves on the road and had success doing it. Something GNR has not done since '93. Its time for that to change. They have the potential but that means nothing until they do something with their talents...until then we will only have our memories of years gone past.

Excellent post. Nice to see someone other than myself, Alan Niveen and a few others who actually GET IT!

The problem with the new outfit is that when it comes to performing live they will have to play at least 80-90 percent of the stuff from the glorious back catalogue and it's plain to see for those with a brain that this new batch of muso's will never, ever be able to play with the heart and integrity of the originals who created these songs in the first place. There is a reason why Led Zep never replaced their drummer. Some legacies are best left alone. rock1

  5. And for anyone else who is livin in the past, read Axls_Disillusion's sig, that sums it up well.

    Grimo.

WOW! So many double standards around here. Grimo accuses people of 'living in the past' -yet he has Appetite for Destruction as his avatar?

And the forum stalker Axls_Disillusion disses Slash, the former Gunners now in VR AND forum members for not respecting the current band, yet he only has one live show in 2002 and a few half assed leaked demos to draw from and expects us to accept this as the present and future? Hey, if there was actually a stable line-up, released album and full tour in support of it maybe we could look at the present and future. Unti lthen there is only the PAST from which to celebrate... and what a glorious past it IS! rock3

  6. The Crue in 1999 and the Crue now are two different things. I saw them last year and they definitely got their shit together :shades:

But you are right, they were bad in 99 (that was around the time tommy left right? his drumming is the strongest point of that band). And the Crue does rock, but you are right, they are no GNR. Not even close.

I love the way this kid talks like he's an expert on these bands. I saw Guns in '86 - '88 - '92 and Crue in '91 - '92 and 2005. I met and hung out with Axl and Izzy in '86 and met and hung out with Tommy in '91. The first time you EVER saw G'N'R was the sub standard version in 2002 that didn't even finish the tour and Crue in 1999 when they were at their worst ever. Please tell us what credibility this gives you to lecture the group on the merits of either band? :fuckyou:

learn to fucking read before you respond to me again. I said I saw the crue last year.

Stop knocking the band. I'm sorry your precious Slash left 10 years ago but things change, people move on.. you need to do the same.

So this gives you the life experience and credibility to tell the group about the Crue does it? In that case can you please tell us how they compare with the Crue at their peak during the Dr Feelgood tour and also perhaps how Guns compared in 2002 to the 1986 thru 1994 version of the band... rock1

  8. ok, this is my first time on this site but ive been a guns n roses fan ever since I could remember..

I love axl rose!!!! but right now im totally living with the fact that they will never reunite but I think Axl will surprise us again with his talent and creativity! I think all this time without Guns N roses has made ppl miss them more and have made ppl curious so i think they will do amazing!!!!

ppl (at least the ones i know) are starting to want to lisn to classic bands (or lead singers) more than these new crap bands coming out these days...so i think this band will be amazing!! whether ppl will like it or not im not sure but one thing i DO know...it wont flop, it wont be AS succseful as the other albums but it will do REALLY WELL!!! just... look, the Greatest Hits has been on the billboard charts for 100 weeks!!! cmon!! PPL REALLY WANNA HEAR THEIR MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNOW I DO!!!!!!!! :)

    hehe

You bring up an interesting point friend. The ONLY thing Axl and co have going for them right now is the fact that the 'new music scene' is so stale. People are indeed going back to classic bands b/c there really is nothing new and exciting out there, and frankly there hasn't been since the classic Seattle scene in the early 90's. However, the unique thing about Axl is that he is the only guy in history as far as i can remember who has completely replaced every single member from the band that brought him his fame and fortune and still continued to use the original name. This is why it's going to be fascinating watching to see what happens. However, so much damage has been done over the last 13 years i'm not sure he can get back what has been lost either musically or in terms of performing at the same levels the original Gunners would undoubtedly be able to maintain if they were still together.

  9. We still don't know if Chris Pittman will show up.

I see many "maybe", "don't know" as I imagined.

There're 2 ways to approach to a concert; 1) you already got the CD with the news songs, so you had time to listen, to learn, to understand the music (and maybe to know who wrote that music) 2) go to the concert and listen for the first time the most of the songs.

Seems like in Europe you got to take the second approach because May and June are so close and there's not much time left to get the new album.

    I personally think it's a pity.

It says a lot about the naivety of people when they are willing to shell out so much cash to see a band that no one even knows who is CONFIRMED to play in it, and with no guaratees that they will even have new product to play either! To quote P T Barnum "There's a sucker born every minute" :rofl-lol:

  10. Tommy Stinson was working in a computer shop when Axl asked him to join GNR.

Richard Fortus was a session musician playing with pop stars.

Robin Finck never played on a NIN record.

    Brain was in Primus...

    Chris Pittman...

We can't really say these guys sacrificed their career for the sake of Guns N'Roses... <_<

Another excellent post from Alan Niveen. So let's get this straight, a former computer shop till jockey (Tommy) is now apparently the spokesman for the band? :rofl-lol:

The Finckster NEVER played on a NIN record yet he is the replacement for one of the most legendary guitar players in history? Man, how could Axl disrespect the fans like this by hiring such non descript players. I'm beginning to believe those here that say Axl has NEVER cared about the fans.

  11. One of my many supporters on the group has asked me to compare what has happened to Motley Crue to that of G'n'R. Now, Crue were huge back in the day and like the five original Gunners, the band was made up of four distinct A-type personalities that the fans instantly related to and loved as a complete UNIT! Now, when it all went tits up in Crue - the band hired a new singer and released arguably their best record with John Corabi on vocals (even Tommy and Nikki acknowledge this). However, the record bombed and the tour went so bad that they had to fund it out of their own pockets and go from arenas to theaters. Now, with only one original gunner left, Axl, the question is, no matter how good CD might turn out to be, will the fans not accept the stand-ins and then some time later demand the original guys to reform as they did with Crue?

As a footnote - the Motley Crue original member tour is third in popularity/box-office to only U2 and Rolling Stones in 2005!

Your post sounds like something you took from a magazine or something! Did you? <_<

Hi Marissa - thanks for the compliment :) I have been asked by a number of Group members if i write for a magazine but alas no - i couldn't take the pay cut. And no, i didn't take it from a magazine although you can check out similar such writings in such publications as Rolling Stone. Take care now! rock3

What fucking 'group' are you talking about? It is certainly not here... all I see is 'the group' shelling your ass like it's the cave Osama Bin Laden is hiding out in. Furthermore, half of what you write does not make sense in quite a literal sense... and the other half is shit you pull out of your ass that is false, misconstrued, completely one sided and totally opinionated points of view that you call facts. I picture a snot nosed, 50cent listening, puss faced piece of WT wearing a wife beater, white Reebok tennis shoes and cut off shorts with an oversized baseball cap on sideways littered with home-made tattoos that say 'Bunky loves Betty' sitting in front of mommy's computer with nothing better to do but make a complete ass out of himself on a GNR fan forum because he flunked out of school.

Magazine writer? Yea, Nickelodeon for kids, maybe. Hooked on Phonics DID NOT work for you.

Now grab the duct tape and go fix the leak in the trailor's roof.

Last time i checked this forum was about G 'N' R kid not me. You seem obsessed, i dunno but fantisizing about what i look and dress like comes across as being a bit... creepy. How about sticking to G 'n' R and the topics raised son - there's a good kid. :rofl-lol:

  13. maybe you shouldn't worry about why people like this band. people do like this band, and thats what this forum is about - Guns N' Roses. I suggest you either get out of 1987, or accept it and shut your mouth.

It seems that maybe you can't answer WHY people like this band...

Besides what band - can you please confirm the 2006 line up and tell us what their latest record is like?

Oh, so the forum is about Guns 'n' Roses, and the 1987 band is not Guns 'N' Roses then? I see. My bad.

  14. and hate Axls gut like you so clearly do,

I certainly don't hate Axl. He still rates as one of the greatest fromtmen of all time. The way he communicates and reaches out to an audience, or at least used to 'BACK IN THE DAY', is (or was) unsurpassed. However i do hate the way in which his psychotic tendencies and meglamania fucked up one of the all-time great rock 'n' roll bands to the point where it has now become a laughing stock full of revolving door hired hands. But, as all the true fans here have been telling me, we can now take alot of heart from the fact that he and Slash are mending the fences. The reunion could be happening sooner than we all thought. I say, BRING IT ON! rock3

    Mick n Keith

    Steven n Joe

    Plant n Page

Axl n Slash......... Ahh don't it make you feel GOOD! rock1

  15. technically in a forum for the 2006 line-up of guns n' roses, a general rule for posting in a forum for the 2006 line up should require that you LIKE THE BAND

Technically how the fuck can you like the 2006 line-up when 1) No one knows who is in it from day to day

    2) They have no finished product. and 3) 90 per cent of the material they play live will be written and recorded by another line up... :P

  16. Paul McCartney fucking invented modern rock with the Beatles.

LMAO - I think you need to go learn your music history a bit better kid. Here's a clue.

Quote from John Lennon "Before ELVIS PRESLEY there was nothing".

Now back on topic... the original Crue will apparently be playing with Axl's PuppetShow at the RDS in Dublin, Ireland. I'm thinking Crue will blow them away. Comments?

    Guns N' Roses

    Confirm 2 Dates

    Updated 08:40 PST Wed, Feb 22 2006

Seldom seen but often gossiped about Guns N' Roses is set to play the RDS Arena in Dublin, Ireland, June 9 and at the Download Festival in Donington, England, on June 11.

The Dublin gig also features Motley Crue.

  17. IF Axl's puppets don't do well in the US they are over. rock1

the US rejected hendrix, and we all know what a failure he was................

seriously to think the US market is the be all and end all is ignorant.

the UK/Europe rejected Led Zep... and we all know what a failure they were. :rofl-lol:

No it's just reality. 300 million people who love their entertainment and have more disposable income than anyone else. Hey, it's not about being better or more self important, it's simply about the numbers. You don't think Oasis and Robbie Willliams have desperatley tried to break America (and failed) several times?

  18. As a footnote - the Motley Crue original member tour is third in popularity/box-office to only U2 and Rolling Stones in 2005!

    Source on this?

    Because its nonsense.

    It is nonsense.

    http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/motley...iz_bounces_back

Top ten tours of 2005 (in millions):

    1. The Rolling Stones, $162

    2. U2, $138.9

    3. Paul McCartney, $77.3

    4. The Eagles, $76.8

    5. Elton John, $65.8

    6. Kenny Chesney, $61.8

    7. Dave Matthews Band, $57

    8. Neil Diamond, $47.3

    9. Jimmy Buffett, $41

    10. Motley Crue, $39.9

My mistake - i meant third biggest ROCK act - unless of course you class the Eagles and Dave Matthews as 'rock' in comparison to U2 Stones and Crue :rofl-lol: lol!

  19. The show in Finland sold out in 8 minutes so I doubt that people care if it's only Axl...

A lot of people who bought tickets are going to be disappointed when they'll find out what GNR is in 2006.

In Finland, they've been promoting the show on TV with footage of the original band

Why is that suprising, did you miss the memo that stated that the original line-up will be playing Download. I'm sure if that is true they will play more than that one date.

WTF - you mean the upcoming shows are being touted as the ORIGINAL GUNS'N'ROSES. How could Axl and the band's management so blatantly LIE to the fans like this! :anger:

  20. One of my many supporters on the group has asked me to compare what has happened to Motley Crue to that of G'n'R. 21. Listen, you don't get to dictate who may or may not be a "true" Guns N' Roses fan. Blah Blah Blah...

LMAO this kids a hoot! - I'm not dictating anything, try cleaning the shit from your eyes, reading the post again and figuring out the difference between dictating as in 'YOU WILL' and opiniating, as i have clearly done for all those with a brain to see. :fuckyou:

Plenty of bands can get back together after a few tiffs, but GN'R are still having legal issues to this day.

So did Pink Floyd and Roger Waters yet oh look, they got resolved - he rejoined for Live 8 as did Motley Crue and Vince Neil but oh look - they are back on the road! Problems get resolved, bands reform and it's business as usual! Keep trying though sucker, you're too funny. :rofl-lol:

... but if you really can't get past the fact that the band members have moved on
You need to wake up and smell modern times pal. This isn't fucking 1987.

Funny how he keeps spouting off about 'modern times' and 'moving on' when he calls himself Zeppelin - A band that split. what. 30 years ago... :rofl-lol:

Get off of it already, because you obviously have no clue of what the music industry is about.

HaHa - if only you knew how much i know about the music industry pal! However, it's not about me, even though you seem to be up MY ASS like Axl says Slash is I won't get personal :rofl-lol:. Frankly, I'm not interested in the INDUSTRY b/c as any musician will tell you, (when you go looking for their autographs in your case), the 'industry' sucks. As an artist, it's about making great music, something that the original Gunners know all about, and something the stand-ins are yet to prove. How's that for an OPINION.

  22. 1)why did you put the Nirvana song in the title???

Because it's a cool ass title and it relates to what the music biz will hope it gets from Axl's puppets so it's easier for them to promote and sell. Welcome to the Jungle baby...

2)stop living in the past, the old members quit the band and aren't coming back.

There are plenty of examples of bands who had bigger fallings out than G'n'R who still got back together. Example:- I noticed the Cult are currently touring again, and Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury actually had a fist fight on stage years back that signalled the end of the band. Now they are back on the road!

There's more likelyhood of the new band failing or imploding than the original Gunners not getting it back together at some point in time. Stranger things have happened. In the end the fans usually get what they want and any one who desn't want the original band over this new lot is NOT a true guns 'n' roses fan. :fuckyou:

  23. 21 of the top 30 touring acts in the USA this week

how exactly do they define what is a "top act" how many tickets sell or how big the venue is? those statistics are in the usa only. in the uk white rap and pop are far more popular, similary france is dominated by pop. u stated that this is for this week. a week is a relatively short time period and doesnt reflect general trends in ticket sales. you also havent stated how may other genres this thirty is out of. the chances are there may be more rock acts at this point in time than there are pop.

It's based on ticket sales and it includes ALL genres. Go to http://www.pollstar.com if you wanna get more anal about it. The trend in America is towards classic rock acts selling the most tickets at the moment. Frankly everywhere else is irrelevant to the US b/c there are 300 MILLION potential consumers there, so i'm not bothered about what's going on elsewhere. That's just the way it is. IF Axl's puppets don't do well in the US they are over. rock1
