  1. Congrats man!

My friends host a college radio show,it's called Radio What Wave...they concentrate on old school punk and classic garage.

Do you have a specific genre/era you specialize in?

nothing in particular... gonna stick with the hard rock/metal stuff

We'll call you up and request the leaks. rock3

    i'll play em...

Now you can officially start gnr rumors rock3

    yeah... i'm psyched

    why no cursing??

i'm actually broadcast on FM, so i have to comply with FCC regulations... oh well

  2. yeah i love it... it seems like the people who post it don't know it's been posted 18 trillion times

they know. they're taking the piss, well at least i hope they are :scared:

well that's the thing. i know when someone with 6,000 posts writes it, it's sarcastic. but i have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of the newbies who post have no idea... :drevil:

edit: i should have said "some" in my first post

  3. actually the grapic is half of what attracted me

the big thing in it is that I wanna stand out a little more than just every other guy

the big difference between this and sticking/customizing it in any other way is the charity,

that really give me a good feeling

yeah that's pretty cool... plus you can always add more unless you want to preserve it's limited edition status

  4. *edits signature*

    :rofl-lol::rofl-lol:

i think everyone's a little caught up in specifics here... i think of winter as starting around thanksgiving and ending in feb./march, not dec. 21, even if that is the ACTUAL start of winter.

hopefully the 28th is the day ::shrugs:: but who knows?

  5. Man sorry I won't be able to listen. Maybe when your on at 1 am but 3 I can't do. hopefully I'll get to listen sometime in the future.

    Good luck

thanks... yeah i figured as much for people in the area, but i'm hoping people in defferent time zones might be a different story.

  6. so this may need to be in the anything goes section, but i thought it pertained a little bit more to people's musical tastes.

so i was an AM DJ on my campus radio station last semester, and it took me almost all of this one, but i finally got qualified for FM. i have one show before the station shuts down for the end of the semester and it's tonight at 3 AM eastern time (yeah, 3 AM) till 5 so i doubt anyone in the area will be up to actually catch it on the radio, but you can listen in on the website... wfnp.org

you can call in and request anything you want and i'll try to play it (gotta play half of my show from the rotation, which surprisingly isn't too bad) as long as i have it on my ipod and there's no cursing. the number to call in is...

    845.257.3090

if you call in, please don't curse, i'll drop and dump the call and you won't get on the radio or your request played (10 second delay is mighty handy)

i'm down for playing absolutely anything as long as i have it and you guys call it in.

next semester i'll have a regularly scheduled show, though i don't know if the time will be any better than 1 AM. but this is the start and with enough listeners hopefully i can make a ruckus at the station.

  7. i dunno, i try to stay away from really loud graphics like that... it could get old real fast. my opinion on gibson is very clearly laid out in the thread in the news section about finck buying a 58 reissue or w/e :P

for that kinda money have you ever considered a PRS SE? they're the import PRS's and they're surprisingly great guitars.

today's the first time i've really posted in this section, so i know you guys are gonna think i'm spamming, but i just really love the store i work for. like the guy in the beginner bass thread, i'll send you a link to my store's site if you're interested. PM me if you are.

    I don't like the feel, it's like a .50 calibur revolver 7 shot,to a 7 shot .50 cal desert eagle

thier both high quality, but i hate the feel,

    it feels, wrong,

I'm going to sound like an idiot, but there's a certain feel, a certain power there's many things, there's a certain level of ultra-comfort and want,

for example, i went to a gibson facory, and asked the difference between a 50's and now style neck, the manager did something i'll never forget,

he walked over, handed me the most powerful 50's style les paul in a display case, then handed me a black beauty

i held the 2, and only then i understood,i really can't explain it, but it's a powerful feeling, that it made me quit a district jazz rehearsal, that i would've got, because my aria custom was broken and my other guitars didn't feel right,

    it's soooo, intresting

i hear ya man... just throwin it out there

my big beef with the guitar is the graphic that'll probably get pretty old to look at, feel is completely and utterly personal

  8. The iranian government on the other hand, has as it's stated aim the genocide of the Israeli people.

They see the Israelis the center of all greed. The rich jews who exploit people. The ones who stole homes from people and pushed them out. Who runs Hollywood? Hollywood is infested with greed, lust, vanity, gossip and a thrill for exploiting murder. Again.....who runs hollywood?

Do you know of a people known as "indians" in this country? Do you know of the genocide by this country? Dropping that bomb on Japan was much worse than any attack on the Israelis by Iran or Iraq. And in fact, their motivation is more pure than any conflict by the US. The Palestinians were robbed.

dude, i've been with you on everything you've said so far. but you cannot justify a genocide because they were robbed of land. and you can't use the 'jews run hollywood' argument as futher justification. there can be a peaceful answer and the palestinians (and i guess the isaelis) refuse to acknowledge that.

edit: this is getting a little heavy and heated for the 'discussion and news' section of a guns n' roses board don't ya think? no one can change anyone's minds on whether or not slash is better than finck, why even try to talk politics?

  9. The band is comprised of legends, many of whom are far better players than the original lineup.

Your saying these guys are legends but the old guns are what then, go read up on your history idiot.

if there's one thing adnan doesn't have to do it's read up on his history, ass. every one of the new members comes from an influential rock band from the 80s or 90s, or has worked with a lot of those bands (i'm looking at you pit(t)man). just because you personally haven't been exposed to much of their music doesn't mean anything. also, he wasn't discrediting the old band in any way, so take it easy.

ON TOPIC: i'm excited for both records, for completely different reasons. i think a lot of people who buy one will buy the other, but will be pretty weirded out by how totally different they will be.

  10. It's simple, if you have the money, go bigger

you never know what will happen

your kid could pick it up, friends, nephews, anyone

and when the time comes, they will thank you for the extra power,

yeah always go bigger when you can. remember bass watts is not nearly the same as guitar watts. the general rule of thumb is you wanna go 3 to 1 when playing with a guitarist. if he has a 50 watt amp you wanna have 150-200 watts. so if you can get the 90 i would say get it... you're probably gonna need it :P

  11. i dunno about a presale... but some kind of organized online sale would be cool. the thing about a presale is that everyone would download it after the initial couple thousand got sold.

  12. you know who makes some great and affordable semi-hollow's? f'ing ibanez... they run the gamut from about 300-1000 and they're all really great deals for the money. you should check them out. i wish more people played ibanez, they've come a long way since the 70s and even the 90s. they make some killer and really reasonably priced stuff now.

  13. my main bass is a G&L L-2500 which i play (usually clean) through an Ashdown Mag 400 2x10 combo (which has had 3 different sets of speakers in it and needs to be replaced very VERY soon haha)

the only guitar i own right now is a breedlove AC250-SM12 - acoustic/electric 12 string

i'm a big advocate of buying decent basses and upgrading or just buying shit basses that i love, regardless of whether or not they're great instruments so the list is like this:

    Homemade parts Jazz Bass

fretless mexican J-bass with almost every resonable part upgraded (i may even get a new neck, cause this one SUCKS)

ibanez starter bass from a package... something like a gsr 190

    ibanez eda 905

ibanez SR485 < my go to bass when the G&L isn't an option

    cort curbow 4

bc rich platinum beast < got it for free as a present from work

i have so many stupid effects... the only ones that get a decent amount of use are my digitech synth wah, crybaby bass wah and a number of distortions i have (DOD overdrive/preamp 250, boss ODB) i also have an mxr phase 90, boss DD-5 delay, some other DOD distortion box (which is absolute shit compared to the 250... which is pretty much shit), Boss noise reducer (forgot the model)

i've gone through a multitude of shit jazz basses and a bunch of crappy guitars and amps. this summer i'm gonna grab an ibanez electric with a piezo pickup (when you record it's actually the EXACT same as plugging in an acoustic, and sounds great live) and probably a cheap combo. seeing everyone else's pics made me wanna take some of my own and i may or may not do that over thanksgiving break B)

on the dream list is probably an american jazz bass with a maple board, an aerodyne jazz bass (i'm not a fan of fender as a company, but those two basses are truly fucking awesom) and i wanna build a thunderbird and cover it in porn like nikki sixx has. i also wanna build a diesel P-bass, but i think that one's way off down the line.

  14. i dunno, i try to stay away from really loud graphics like that... it could get old real fast. my opinion on gibson is very clearly laid out in the thread in the news section about finck buying a 58 reissue or w/e :P

for that kinda money have you ever considered a PRS SE? they're the import PRS's and they're surprisingly great guitars.

  15. adnan, this is your band?

sounds really good, the keys remind me of some return to forever stuff. it's a little mellow for my tastes, i prefer more rock in my fusion, but definitely cool. the fidelity is unbelievably good, i like the octave effect on the bass in the intro especially. as far as that goes there a little distortion on the bass here and there, but overall fucking great work, i can never get my bass sounding exactly the way i want it when i record (which is next to never).

  16. i would recommend before anything the ibanez jumpstart package... real cheap and it's real good stuff. i've been playing bass about 7 years now and have about 10 basses, and i still have that one. it's a good looking bass and the tones are pretty decent. it has a P/J pickup combo. i don't wanna spam or anything, but i work for a guitar store and i could send you a link if you want... PM me if you're interested, i may or may not be able to get a few bucks off for ya

  17. Peace Sells, Mastermind, and Dawn Patrol by Megadeth are all great.

    rock3

hm my favorite bass line to play i think is the main melody in 'silly putty' by stanley clarke... it's just such a FAT fucking groove

also 'DMV' by primus is a lot of fun because it's easy to sing and play it at the same time and it fills up a lot of space

as far as rock goes i love playing a long with 'all the young dudes' by mott the hoople - nothing particularly amazing, but it's just such a cool song to blast. a lot of bowie stuff is just a lot of fun to play along with (ziggy stardust, etc) cause there's a lot of space to play in. i also love playing 'no excuses' by alice in chains (it's tuned a half step down if you're trying to figure it out yourself) and it's really hard to ignore duff on a GNR fan forum, he's what got me started. pretty much anything from AFD is gold and a lot of stuff on the illusions (particularly on UYI II)

  18. i'd have to do a festival:

    aerosmith

    then a 3 hour wait

    jay-z

yeah yeah yeahs (boring as all hell)

i supposed to see buckcherry this summer but my buddy bailed on me and i wasn't about to spend a night alone in poughkeepsie. and in december i'm seeing killswitch engage (w/ hatebreed :fuckyou: ... but i love killswitch) and gwar with the red chord and municipal waste
