  1. The partisan nature of this forum is starting to get ridiculous. Can't we go back to arguing about Slash and Axl and Nu-Guns and all that instead of forum-politics? Do any of you guys really think anyone outside of the 20 people who operate the forum realistically give a shit about Madison and GG and the fucking passes?

No one cares. No one has ever cared, no one will ever care. Most of us are on this forum because we like to be up to date about Guns N' Roses and this is the best place on the internet to do it. So do us all a favor and take this crap out of the main board. Go start a special board for people to bitch about the unfortunate tragedy of the epic power plays on a board about a fucking rock band.

Mods and Supporters--why are you are arguing instead of just banning?

Madison--Kurt Cobain walked into MTV Live and Loud. A fan shouts "MTV sucks!" because that's anti-corporate and totally rebel. Kurt Cobain says "Then why are you here?"

  2. “Si usted ve, el mensaje dice que los conciertos anunciados antes del 25 de febrero no serán honrados y nosotros hicimos el anuncio el 26, así que puedo confirmar que el concierto se mantiene”, aseveró el productor.

"As you can see, the message says that the concerts announced before the 25th of February will not be honored--and we made the announcement the 26th--'asi' (a conjunction meaning "thusly", or like, "this is how") I can confirm that the concert will happen" averred the producer.

Actual technicality? Or is the guy full of shit?

  3. I agree that the date that the person wrote on the youtube video should be 12-11-09, BUT... gnrdaily just posted this up:

    http://gnrdaily.com/news_detail.asp?id=2281

which contains the link I just previously posted.

Seems to make sense, considering Axl- personally tweeted his very first tweet (that sounds so strange) on his new twitter account, approx 2 hours ago, which I responded to immediately since I know some of the crew and band. Also, around the same time the new gunsnroses twitter account made a similar statement regarding a sound check, which to me sounded as if he had a safe flight and arrived at the stadium ON TIME!! (wow, now that's a new look for Axl to begin with!!)

So, don't kill the messenger (me) if they are wrong but that definitely sounds and looks like W. Axl Rose... But I've been wrong before (haven't seen the man since 2007)

So hopefully we can get this party started!

    Rock On!

    -HDs

Holy shit! Ashba actually kicks that solo's ass. I'm pretty sure that's Axl as well, though I"m drunk and delirious from studying from finals, so I could be wrong.

  4. 12-20-06--last show of the tour--and I was worried, because I thought it would be the last show GnR ever did. Had tix for Reno on the 13th, but Uncle Axl cancelled that one. So I flew my ass down south to the Jungle itself. It was insane. Plus, Baz opened the show, and he was seriously worth the price of the ticket by himself.

  5. I feel he only wrote that to promote his book.. dry.gif

    Nice little ending there

WAR: W Axl Rose – The Unauthorised Biography’ by Mick Wall (Sidgwick & Jackson, £16.99) is out in May

And he wanted people to know he knew Axl Rose.

---I honestly thought until I read that that what Wall wrote WAS a promo for his book.

The thing I hate is that I'm such a fucking fanboy that I"m going to go buy the goddamn book when it comes out.

---Most of the shit he said could be found in Paul Stenning's "The Band That Time Forgot." All the shit about Sharon "Yoda" Maynard, Buckethead's coop--all his weird shit that Axl's into now was there.

I honestly think that was a book promo in poor disguise.

But I'm still going to but it.

  6. "So now I wander through my days

Just trying to find my way

Through the feelings that I felt

I saved for you and no one else

And though as long as this road seems

I know it’s called the street of dreams

But that’s not stardust on my feet

It leaves the taste that’s bittersweet

    That’s called the blues…"

  7. New Rules for this forum.

    1) No more saying Slash sucks. The man clearly doesn't suck, he played on the some of the greatest songs ever written.

    2) No more saying Axl sucks.

    Kurt Cobain said it best.

(At the MTV Live and Loud Concert)

    Fan: MTV SUCKS!

Kurt: ...then why are you here?

    On topic...

BBF has a unique look. You can say "he looks stupid" about pretty much anyone, Axl and Slash included. 2002 Axl was def. not the epitome of coolness, and even in 1993, his style def. has not stood the test of time. My idiot friends laughed at the show I was watching (Tokyo DVDs) because of the shots of him in the white spandex shorts and nothing else. You can argue that Slash looks stupid because he wears a fucking top hat and dresses like a Hells Angels reject.

I think he looks cool. But I can see why people say he looks dumb.

BBF--yeah, I can see why people say he looks dumb. I think he looks cool.

Plus, the man is a cool dude--who else would've played a sing along "Mr. Grinch" in their guitar solo? I submit that there is no one.

Buckethead--what a divisive issue. But I think you're all missing the point.

It doesn't matter what he looks like. He has a unique look too. Rock and roll bands were always about misfits getting together and doing whatever the fuck they wanted. Dee Snider dresses like a creepy, ugly transvestite. Gene Simmons wears the makeup. Buckethead has...well, the bucket.

As for Ron--I don't understand the people who don't like shredding. It's more difficult than note picking solos like Slash's--and I'm sorry, but Slash was the last gasp of a by-gone era. With EVH's "Eruption"--that was it for the Slashs, Tony Iommis, and Jimmy Pages of the world. The refusal of guitarists to use the techniques that Van Halen created are just indicative of a regressive, flawed mindset set in the past. If you choose not to like that, then that's your style. But if you don't like shredding and hten try to say that it "sucks", then you're a fool. At least appreciate the talent that the technique takes.

  8. Show of the Year: Inland

Guitarist: I'm going to go with Fortus. He's talented, and he carries himself like a rocker. But I disagree with all the Bumble and Finck criticism. Finck rocks like a beast, and honestly, if Axl is the soul of the band, BBF is the Heart. He's a genuinely nice guy.

    Leak: Better. Duh.

    News: March 6th.

Solo: Foot's Don't Cry. Gave me shivers.

  9. WEll, as a ticket holder for the Reno show, I was irate when I read this.

But then I got my tickets to fly down to Universal City on the 20th, and I'm not so mad anymore.

    But on to the letter...

I'm stoked, but cautious. This is a HUGE step for Axl--an actual date!--but like...at the same time, I hate to say it but...

It's Axl. The man a genius, but part of the problems of creative genius is that you can't really control it. So if its not ready by January...will it drop in March? Or will he retreat again?

But all in all, despite my horrendous initial disappointment when I thought I wasn't going to get to see GnR and Baz, the letter itself was pretty cool. I'm really excited for March, but I just remember the build-ups and letdowns...I want to believe so badly that is it, but I refuse to get my hopes up that high. When I hear that the album has been sent to the label--that's when you guys will see my ecstatically through the fucking roof.

  10. Wow---

This whole thread just made realize how much I wish Axl hadn't sounded like shit when Bucket was in the band. That man was ridiculously fucking talented--the Nightrain solo, omfg, that was incredible. But if I had to rank them, I'd say that YCBM is the only one where Slash does it best. I just don't like the shredding on that song.

But the Nov. Rain outro and Nightrain both go to Buckethead. Which is no diss on Ron, whom I love, but god DAMN--BH really did it all.

Too bad he was such...such a freak, I guess. He is amazing.

  11. How the hell is he desperate for an image?

How can you say Buckethead is not desperate for an image? I think dressing like a normal dude and being amazingly chill to the fans is a lot less of an image than wearing a fucking KFC bucket and speakign through a puppet.

However, I'd like to ask a question to all the Bucket fans out there--how can youl like that iteration of the band? While you may think that BH added a lot to the solos (which he did, I dont' deny that at all), with Slash and co. gone, the heart and soul of GnR is truly Axl Rose (Pit(t)man!)--and if he sounds like shit, how is it still GnR?

I'm not trying to bash Bucket, I just honestly would like an answer from the people who say Buckethead was superior to Slash?

  12. Once again, you're missing the point.

Axl-ites, it's pointless to try to say "that band is dead". As long as the band is still playing the hits of Appetite, the old band lives on.

Slash-ites, get with the fucking times--Slash hasn't been in the band for 10 years.

"But it's not the band anymore" you say.

Dave and Rachel still use the name Skid Row even Baz is long gone. I don't even think the original members of Warrant are still in the band. Journey and Def Leppard have new lead singers.

But the point is, what is the band?

The band,at its heart, is composed of the principal song-writers. Everyone else is periphery to that. Because it doesn't matter how good you are, you are nothing without good songs (Buckethead's solo career, anyone?)

So who were the principal song-writers of GnR?

    Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin.

When Izzy left, That meant that Axl was holder of the throne.

Why did AC/DC get to keep the name when Bon Scott died? Angus and Malcolm wrote the music. Didtto for DAve and Rachel in the Skid Row sitch.

Slash is damn good--but you could've put anyone with equal talent into the band playing the same songs on Appetite with a stereotypical Rock and Roll badass look and they would've been just as successful.

Plus, Axl established himself as an amazing song-writer--November Rain, Don't Cry, Estranged, The Blues. What has Slash done that's comparable to that? I submit that there is nothing.

And on the "Feeling" arguement--I'm sorry, but how do you measure that? Do we have a "feeling" meter that we plug into Slash's amp that reads higher than the one plugged into Robin's amp?

Fucking dumbest arguement ever. His style is bluesier. That's it.

Feeling" in music is completely subjective--you could argue that by demeaning women in "Anything Goes" the band had no feeling, and that Nickelback has more "feeling." You could say that "Axl sounds like a dying cat"--well he doesn't to us, but one of my friends stands by that. But there's no "dying cat meter" that we can plug into Axl's mic. It's COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE. As is feeling.

If you want to have a real debate, you can't bring subjective factors like "he plays with more feeling" into the equation because it's just fucking stupid. It doesn't work that way. A debate is based on opinions backed up by fact. There are no facts attached to "he has more feeling."

"I like the fact that his style is bluesier" is a good point. But to try to state "he plays with more feeling" is preposterous. I LIKE the fact that Robin and Richard tear up "Beautiful" and IT IS MY OPINION that they demonstrate a lot of feeling in that song. That's my opinion, but we're not going to debate that because that is completely subjective.

The theory that the people who don't like the new band and still bitch for Slash are idiots, is also my opinion.
