  1. So a while ago I was browsing Reddit and I found a Life Pro Tip that stated that if you have trouble conentrating in front of a computer, listening to video game soundtracks would help. The comments also mentioned listening to movie soundstracks and offered a variety of sugguestions.

I work from home and from time to time I have trouble concentrating while sitting in front of my computer for 8 hours a day. So i decided to make a playlist of soundtracks to help me concentrate.

Many of the soundtracks I added to my playlist came directly from the Reddit suggestions. Here is my playlist so far:

    Film Soundtracks:

    Gone Girl Soundtrack

    The Social Network Soundtrack

The Girl With Dragon Tattoo Soundtrack

    Inception Soundtrack

    Tron Soundtrack

    Man of Steel Soundtrack

    Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack

    Video Game Soundtracks:

    Bastion Soundtrack

So do you guys have any favorite Film or Video Game soundtracks that help you concentrate? I'd love to know about them so I can add them to my playlist.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  2. I'm personally glad to see Stevie Ray Vaughan, Nine Inch Nails, Green Day, Lou Reed, and the Smiths on that list. I also agree that NWA is a good choice if they want to go in the rap direction.

  3. Only seen Panic Room, Fight Club, Seven & Zodiac...enjoyed em all except Panic Room which was alright, not brilliant or anything. As a director, overall, since the thread title is 'worship' I think it's relevant, he's really not that brilliant. I like what he does visually, in a purely asthetic sense but the movies themselves are kinda...i dunno. They're good, very good even but...i dont think it's like upper percentile directing going on.

He's upper percentile for his generation (what that says about his generation is certainly debatable).

Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson, Steven Soderbergh, Sofia Coppola, Richard Linklater, Darren Aronofsky, Christopher Nolan, Pedro Almodovar, Alejandro Gonzales Innaritu.....David Fincher?

I wouldn't include Sofia Coppola in that list. And as much as I enjoy Iñárritu, nothing he has made since Amores Perros has been as astonishing. They were all good, but not amazing. I enjoy Fincher more than him.

  4. I work from home. It's awesome.

Me too. My commute is about fifteen steps from my bedroom to my office. :)

It really is great. I couldn't see myself going back to a regular job. Unless the pay was a ridiculous amount more than I'm getting now, or I basically had to in order to get by.

  5. Just finished both seasons of Todd and the Book of Pure Evil. I remember thinking that the show seemed really stupid after the first 2 episodes, but I kept watching and then I got really into it. I really enjoyed it for what it was. Each episode made me laugh out loud a couple of times and the story line ended up sucking me in. I am now sad that there are no more seasons.

  6. While I would prefer not to work and just go on crazy adventures all the time, since that is not a possibility, I do love my job. I get to work from home, get to set my own schedule, not counting meetings, and get paid well. What more could I ask for?

  7. I know I'm behind, but I started Bojack Horseman today. Only one episode in so far, but it's hilarious.

I finished Freaks & Geeks earlier this week. It started out strong, and really just sort of fizzled out by the end IMO. By about episode 15 or 16, I was just really ready to be done with the series.

Bojack Horseman is probably my favorite Netflix original series right now. It got pretty depressing toward the end there, though, but still funny.

Finally got to watching "Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie." It was pretty funny, definitely had the View Askewniverse humor style to it. It called back to some old jokes a little too often, but it was still funny.

Just finished up the entire season of BoJack today. Loved it. The last couple of episodes were a bit depressing, but in a good way. The show has it flaws, but overall I really enjoyed it.

Just saw this on Reddit. It essentially shows you spoiler videos to really popular movies. It's random and shows you 1 spoiler clip at a time.

I want to avoid it, but I must keep watching it.

  8. Guns N' Roses is currently on Reddit's front page with this article: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:QDtubx94aB8J:http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/duff-mckagan-guns-n-capital-09292011.html%2Bduff+mckagan+starbucks&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe&gws_rd=ssl&hl=en&&ct=clnk

This is the headline: TIL: In 1994, former Guns N Roses bassist Duff McKagan decided to invest $100k in local Seattle companies, including an expanding chain of coffee shops, a software company and an online book seller - Starbucks, Microsoft and Amazon.

TIL stands for Today I Learned.

Don't know why, but I got a kick out of seeing them on the front page.

Edit: They are actually the number 1 post on the front page right now.

  9. Can anyone recommend a good 20-30 minunte TV show on Netflix? I feel like I've gone through all the good ones already.

What shows have you already seen and is there any particular type of genre you're looking for? Anything you already know you dislike?

I'm looking for any genre as long it's good. I'm willing to try anything out.

I've seen most of the cartoons on Netflix such as Family Guy, American Dad, The Cleavland Show, Codemonkeys, Adventure Time, and most of the Cartoon Network stuff I used to enjoy when I was younger.

Live action wise I've seen the I.T. Crowd (which I loved), Parks and Rec, The Office, both British and American, and other similar shows.

I guess I mainly just named comedies, it's just hard to come by another genre when the show length is only 20-30 minutes.

Edit: I might try the League and Trailer Park Boys.

Other shows I have already seen from Netflix: Workaholics

Cartoon wise I'd recommend the Netflix original BoJack Horseman, and also the show Archer. Father of the Pride is also pretty funny, I think you might enjoy it. I like Bob's Burgers but I don't watch it all that often.

Live action wise: My Name is Earl, Raising Hope (although that one is iffy even for me), Wilfred and Todd and the Book of Pure Evil. Straying away from comedy a bit, Derek is a funny show but it can be downright depressing in some of its episodes. "The Haunting Hour" is kind of like Goosebumps but with better production value, and Amazing Stories is akin to Twilight Zone but with a more wide variety of themes, although some episodes go for an hour but most are half hour like what you want. Also, if it's your kind of show, Urban Legends is pretty good to kill some time.

Sorry if none of that is what you were looking for, but that's all I could think of off the top of my head.

I've seen Archer, Bob's Burgers, My Name is Earl and Wilfred. I've enjoyed them all.

I've seen BoJack Horseman on the Netflix homepage, but never gave it a chance. I'm going to check it out now.

Father of the Pride, Todd and the book of pure evil, and Derek all seem pretty interesting. I'm going to add them to my list. I'm also going to at least check out 1 episode of the other shows.

Thanks for all of the recomedations. I really apreciate it.
