Pretty Hate Machine by NIN. I've been listening to the entire album non-stop for the past day or so.

I have never been a fan of any of Tyler Perry's work, but I will watch any film directed by David Fincher. That man is a genius.

Great band. Caught them a few years ago and it was a shitload of fun.
Comparisons to RHCP is stupid, whilst RHCP themselves haven't done anything decent in decades. Overrated band imho.
Blind Melon is another great 90s band that was seriously underrated & innovative, sadly the song that brought them success kinda fucked things up for them too. Blind Melon, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, good times being a teenager then with that stuff plastered everywhere.
i really like stadium arcadium and everything with john before that. im with you was pretty disappointing though. great ideas on it with poor execution (especially with the guitars)
I've always been a strong believer that John was an essential part of the RHCP and he played an integral part in turning their music from just being good tracks into magical moments.
Other than "Pea", I was not a fan of One Hot Minute either.
Comparing them to RHCP is weird. The only similarities are the slap bass and rapped vocals in the early days.
Patton is miles ahead of Kiedis in the talent department.
Patton clearly has a wider vocal range than Kiedis. But like you said, they can't properly be compared. All in all, I enjoying the RHCP quite a bit more.
Doesn't change the fact that Patton's voice is amazing though.

I am a fan of Mike Patton's voice.

If you like Sparta then surely you got some love for At The Drive-In?
(skip the first minute )
I have a hard time knowing exactly what falls under the umbrella of Emo.
I guess Brand New is "emo" idk
Another fantastic record.
I enjoy Sparta and at the Drive In, being raised in El Paso, TX and all. I regularly frequent one of Jim Ward's bars.
I have always despised Fall Out Boy. I gave their music a chance but I could never enjoy it.
I've always been a fan of this song by From Autumn to Ashes though. I'm pretty sure it is considered "emo".
I remember there was a time when people who were categorized as "Emo"s were being stoned in Mexico City. People would follow them to concert venues just for the purpose of stoning them. It was insane.

Watched The Amazing Spider-Man. Thought was good. Almost as good as the first Spider-Man. A lot better than Spider-Man 3.
A lot better than Spider-Man 3 doesn't mean much ha. That was such a horrible movie, I still can not believe that Sam Raimi directed it.
Glad to hear the reboot is decent, I still need to get around to seeing it.

Daniel Day-Lewis' work in There Will Be Blood blew my mind. It was one of the best performances I have ever seen in my life.
I also loved Tom Hardy in Bronson. He did such an excellent job.
Those performances alone make me think that Daniel Day-Lewis and Tom Hardy are two of the finest actors of the past decade.

I feel like all of these extra songs from the Chinese Democracy sessions will eventually come out in one way or another. Not necessarily in an album, but in some other fashion. It might also take 20 years or longer, or it could take a lot less. I don't believe anyone truly knows. This is just my personal opinion though, it's pure speculation.
I also feel that having absolutely no expectations regarding new music is the best attitude to have regarding this band. That way if no new music is ever released you will not have any bitter feelings, but if new music is released you will be pleasantly surprised.

The energy to the build up is amazing.

I would keep most of the 1st Disc but get rid of Warlocks and C'mon Girl, and from the 2nd Disc I would only keep Desecration Smile, Tell Me Baby, Hard to Concentrate, Make You Feel Better, and So Much I.

I can not get into the new season of Arrested Development. I've tried watching the first couple of episodes but I just hated them. I believe the problem is the format. While I love all of the characters, mainly because I can see parts of myself in them, at their core, they can all be a bit annoying. This is generally fine, because they are all always interacting with each other, and when one character may start getting a bit annoying, you can quickly focus on another one's quirks. However, when you focus an entire episode on one character, by the end of the episode I am left hating them. I also feel they lost the great chemistry of the ensemble cast by just focusing on one character per episode.
For some reason I also can't stand the narration, which was never a problem for me in the past.
I do love the ShowStealer Pro Trial joke though.
The first three episodes are the worst of the season. They're mostly setting up jokes that don't become clear until later. If you love the characters I would recommend sticking with it.
I still loved the first one but apparently I'm in the minority on that one. The George Senior/Oscar storyline is by far the weakest.
The first 3 episodes are the only ones I have watched so far ha. I'll give the 4th one a shot.
Talking about the Office, I felt that it lost its greatness after Pam and Jim got together, even when Michael was still part of the show. It still had its funny moments and good episodes after that, but I never found it as amazing as the previous seasons.

Here's a cool AFD/UYI one I made. I made a darker one, like the current one and a light version.
Any feedback on my AFD/UYI banner or is it that atrocious and does nobody like it?
I LOVE it but it doesn't have any current members on it so we cant use it.
I also feel that the transitions are a bit harsh and I would switch the positions of the full band and the Garden of Eden picture, so that the full band is more in the center.

It was a lot more campy than I was expecting.
In a good way or a bad way?
In a good way. I quite enjoyed it.
Good to hear.
I watched Kidnapped 2010 recently & although it was good it was too violent to be called horror. I also watched The Purge which was good, I thought You're Next would be great until I realised it was another gory slasher type film. To me horror is when the unexpected happens throughout the movie, you get the jumps & the anticipation of something happening and it doesn't.......then when you don't expect it to happen it does.
No doubt I will watch this movie just the same, is it similar to The Purge?
I wanted to see the Purge, but the reviews made it seem like it wasn't so great.

Honest question because I don't really follow NIN. How does the die-hard NIN fan base think of what has happened to NIN since the mid-90s?
This thread isn't discussing the quality of Trents music, which would be a subjective conversation, but rather how he promotes his music and treats his fan base.Trent has not been doing everything right. His music post 2000 has been mediocre at best. His concerts are basically festivals of nostalgia with a few new tracks thrown in that usually get muted response from the audience.
At least Axl makes music with real guitars and drums, unlike the shitty laptop music Trent has been releasing.
I wouldn't know. I don't consider myself a die-hard fan and I don't really participate on their forums either.
On a personal level though, I know that nothing that Trent will ever release will have such a big impact on me as Pretty Hate Machine and the Downward Spiral did. The memories that are connected to those records are too meaningful to me and nothing new will ever compare to that.
WIth that being said, listening to new music from an artist that helped shape who you became is always entertaining, regardless of the quality of the music. I will always give Trent's new music a chance, his music has earned him that much with me.
Plus, new music, even if it doesn't compare to what made me a fan, will always be better than no music.

I enjoyed the setlist.
I ended up getting tickets for the El Paso, TX show instead of the LA show in November. I'm excited for it.

No matter what Banner is chosen, not everyone is going to be happy with it. So we are better of picking the one that is more visually appealing.
I enjoy both the album idea and this new one.

The trailer looks very promising.
And I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

That Sailing performance was EPIC and I'm convinced one of those once in a life things...so not really sure about wanting to hear it again. Axl simply can't even go near that level anymore.
It's just like this Nice Boys performance back in '10 with Duff, which was also EPIC and unrepeatable.
That is Epic.

I loved how they played Sanctified.

Ok, Axl looks awesome now, but Fortus is kinda hidden. And Axl is a liitle out of place looking at the other way. I'll stop doing alternative versions . Hope you like one of them
I like that Axl picture.

I enjoyed Zero Dark Thirty, I just felt it dragged on a bit too long.
