  1. But why would Axl be adamant about 2008? It's just really strange.

Does anyone have one fucking clue about what could be the significance of a 2008 release?

    Oh please ...

There absolutely nothing significant about 2008 besides the fact that it's the next best sounding thing to saying it's coming out in 2007.

Dude, like I said, I'm just playing along. I'm as cynical about this album as anyone, check my post history.

That being said, if BH did say 2008 was the intention (I still haven't seen the actual interview) that does merit some discussion, don't you think? It sure appears that 2007 is out, so 2008 will become the focus. That's how it works in the GN'R universe.

It certainly merits more discussion than your boy Adler stepping in and somehow helping Axl release the album.

    Tell you what...

Since I'm in a good mood today, I'll ignore the last dickhead comment in your post and tell you that the interview you are looking for is at htgth.

 Yeah sorry, it was a little dickhead. But I was just responding to your post which was a little condescending in itself. Thanks for the tip. I should be able to find it with a search.

Just as a heads up, if you're putting stock in it, Bucket also said in that interview that, "Axl will not release the album until he finds the right guitar player."

Yeah, the right guitar player. Not the right drummer. I've read posts where you bring up this quote, and you seem to think it includes Adler. I think what BH was likely referring to (without having read the interview) is the fact that Axl needed to replace him, and that he needed to find a guitarist that could play his parts. Slash is not that guy. And Adler certainly isn't, unless he can shred.

And I wouldn't say I'm putting stock in it. Just that, BH was on the inside for a time, and so anything he says is worthy of consideration. That's even more so now that the album actually has been delayed and we are approaching the year he specified. It just gives his comments a little more validity. Maybe there's something there.

I've taken a few shots at you lately (really about Adler re-joining the band, which I think has about a snowball's chance in hell), but overall our mindset regarding what really constitutes GN'R isn't all that different. I'm hardly a BBF or Finck diehard (though I like the parts Finck has written). Slash is, for me, the obvious choice, but I think it's just not realistic for the project Axl is working on. Any snide remarks of mine directed your way have to do with Adler, not Slash, and they are only snide because I think the thought of Axl needing or wanting him back is crazy. No offense.

But why would Axl be adamant about 2008? It's just really strange. Usually you don't know exactly when an album is coming out. You work on it and see how it goes and when it's ready you release it. But somehow Axl knows in 2006 that the album will be handed over in 2008? If that's the case then there must be something special about that year. I'd love to hear theories. Unfortunately, I doubt any of this is accurate. Though it appears, as I re-read that thread, that others have vouched for the fact that the interview did happen.

Okay then. Let's play along. Does anyone have one fucking clue about what could be the significance of a 2008 release? Why would Axl plan to do that at least one and a half years before?

Yes, i have an idea indeed. The upcoming 2008 olympics in china!! I saw a special about it on german television and the chinese communist party (as of course) are using the olympics as a big propaganda machine (not unlike the nazis did in 1938). They (the chinese communist party) want to make it look like their country (including the opressive, human rights denying government) is something kina like a chinese democracy.

For the people of china the olympics do not mean a change for the good. Lots of people got kicked out of their homes (nice traditional chinese houses) , the places where torn down by bulldozers and the people where replaced in "communist style" flat-like appartments.

I also think this is what Axl meant by saying "the timing couldn´t be better". He gives us a teaser through Baz Album, and then in 2008 we got the olympics in china. This will shed light again on the opressive government and the fucked up human rights situation there. The whole chinese issue will be back on the map.

What do you guys think!? I´m really serious on this one!! rock3

That's actually pretty interesting. The world knew about this event early enough that Axl could indeed have had the forsight a few years in advance to plan for a release in 2008. It's a huge worldwide event. That means exposure.

I don't know. It's pretty far-fetched. But it actually makes some sense business-wise, and would definitely answer the question as to why Axl identified that year as the year, and knew it long beforehand.

It's also kind of risky. I mean, how do you use such a big event to draw attention to your album? Axl would almost need to make a huge political statement to actually get attention that ties the Olympics and China to his album. Because otherwise people would not even link the two in anything more than in an ironic coincidence sort of way. And if Axl does intend to make the kind of big statement he'd have to make, god knows he'll be criticized by a lot of people.

Can someone please explain to me exactly why China would endorse and use an album advocating Democracy? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the government is Communist (theoretically). Why would a government back an album that endorses it's overthrow... especially a Communist one?

  2. Since I haven't heard the "newest" leaks, I can't really comment on the improved quality of each individual song. However, GNR needs the song that is the most accessible to the public to be their #1 single. Now, I don't know if that will be CD, Better, TWAT, or Maddy, but they should follow their past blueprints. Hard-hitting, aggressive, loud, defiant first song followed by one of the ballads... classic blueprint for metal albums since the early 80's. Never-failed.

  3. I really hope There was a time will not be called TWAT on the album

Why the fuck not??? TWAT rules! LOL. Plus it is a clever play on words, to be perfectly honest. I could see it being labeled as "T.W.A.T. (There was a Time)" on the record so it's not blatant, a little more subtle, but still perfectly obvious that they are trying to do it.

  4. Its funny though that the first member to leave voluntarily is the first to come back, even if he's not in the band he's playing with them which is a start.

Good thought. I like where your head is at. I like the new band and all and I'm sure I'll like them even more when Chinese Democracy hits store in March (fucking hopefully), but let's face it... The original GNR is legend... and everyone on the planet would love to see them back together and recording again, because the music they made was timeless. Whether that happens or not, who knows. I'll stick with the new band, I'll support them and love them... but when it comes down to it... I'll pick legends over hired help anyday.

  5. If this list actually constituted vocal abilities, like range and pitch... etc, how the fuck is Glenn Danzig not on that list?!?!?! He has one of the best male voices of hard rock/metal/punk. Just listen to the power he can command... especially the beginning of Devil's Plaything. It sounds like an old acoustic barber-shop type song for like 40 seconds, of which you can hear the true quality of his voice, and then blasts into the heavy end with the sheer power taking over. Unreal. That list blows, that's not a fuckin' metal list. Some metal, lots of rock... annnnndddd Rod Stewart????

The list just sucks. I'm a fan of the distinct voices... the likes of which in the early days consisted of Plant, Ozzy, Bon and Bruce... and i'll throw Freddie in there just because Queen kicks ass. Axl carried that on and the success they had and are still having, even without doing anyting for 15 years, definately merits him higher than 11. Cornel is good and i'm a fan, but what has he done that can compare to Axl? Business wise or vocally???

  7. Get off your soapbox. If Axl liked making music, he would have had at least 3-4 albums since TSI. He's soooo full of shit with his lies "It will be out in late 2006", "There will 13 songs, no video...". Not to mention the bullshit lies over the past 7 years about the release. Either shit or get off the pot. He's past his prime. Actually he missed his prime.

Promoting new material? Better is the only new material. The rest of the new material is 4 years old.

Axl does like making music... that's why he' s MAKING NEW MUSIC!!!!!!! i consider all the supposed songs off Chinese Democracy to be new, whether they are a few years old or not. We've only heard demos of them, not even the finished products, so who knows what songs like CD, The Blues, Madagascar, IRS, TWAT, Catcher in the Rye, and Better are going to sound like finished. That's 6 "new" songs. I'm just happy he's making new music. I, along with most of the population of planet earth, believed GNR had faded away by the turn of the century (and Oh My God does NOT FUCKING COUNT! terrible song and not a GNR song... maybe if they re-did it???? who knows). So when I started hearing the "new" tracks, I was excited. New material! Awesome. I wish other people would just appreciate the fact that he did not just give-up. He went about reforming one of the greatest rock bands of all-time. That's a ballsy move. He's working to reach the top again. And he didn't miss his prime... being the biggest band in the world for a few years doesn't qualify as missing his prime.

  8. There is way too much negativity. First off... Guns N' Roses don't owe us a fuckin' thing. For some reason, people are under the assumption that GNR/Axl owe us. For what? It's not like they are making music "just for the fans." That's stupid. No one does that or else the albums would get put onto the internet to be downloaded for free. They are making the music because THEY like to make music. We like their music, so we buy it. It's a symbiotic relationship. Both sides are getting something out of this. It's not like Axl wants to lead fans along... he wants to put out the album, but only when it's ready... according to his standards. We get music we love, and he gets money and the satisfaction of doing what he loves. They are not obligated to make music for us. Both parties benefit. So stop saying he is dissing the fans and doesn't care about the fans. GNR is not ours... it's his. We love it, but ultimately it's his. Another thing, the album WILL be released. They've reorganized, have had a prolonged tour that both reintroduced the world to GNR, as well as promoting the new material and album. And it's been extremely successful with great reviews. So why all the constant bitching. The album will come out... it's just a matter of time. Honestly, i'm so sick of little fags whining about how Axl hates everyone and how he doesn't care and about how they aren't going to buy the album when it comes out right away. Shut up. Just shut the fuck up. You'll buy the album as soon as it's out, just like all other GNR fans, you'll love it, you'll sing it's praises as well as Axl's, and then you'll go back to your normal little lives of complainging about something (like GNR), not-getting laid, watching star wars, making booger sculptures and masterbating constantly. Grow up and fuckin' support the band. Stop being such fags.

  9. we r getting don't cry from bumblefoot :P

    and it rocks rock3

Yea, def sounded real good at the Garden the other week. He rocked it out. Much of the crowd sang the words as he played... it was pretty cool

  10. Axl=GNR

    No Axl=No GNR

Axl + Bach = No GNR ( but cool as a guest)

    But Why?????

    Axl+Seb= Gnr x 2 (at least!!!)

You're a fucking retard. Shut the fuck up already. Worst idea ever. No plausible way Axl would ever share the spotlight or mic with another, nor would any sane GNR fan want him too. And Axl+Seb DOES NOT EQUAL GNR x 2, it equals Guns N' Row! It equals SHIT! Please go run into a sharp object or something... now...

  11. Also, a filled MSG and AXL never ONCE mentioned the album...he never talked about the new songs, he didn't sing any news songs...

What? I was there. I do believe they played The Blues, IRS, Better, and Chinese Democracy (which I thought sounded the best that I've heard it yet and I really haven't liked that song much until last night). That's 4 "new" songs. We know we aren't gettin' any more off CD until the album drops, so stop anticipating we'll hear a new "big gun" or whatever.

  12. Why didn't Axl get a band like The Killers to open for GNR? You know, get some youth to the show. I remember when Guns opened for the Stones, now if GNR are the stones, shouldn't a huge band for the youth open up for them?

Technically, at this point, the Killers would prolly be considered the headliner of that tour by the mainstream. They've had more recent success and have been in the spotlight and countdown lists for the past few years, whereas GNR has been a running joke. I don't see them as an opening act, although that tour would be unreal.

  13. have you ever heard of a song called November Rain dude?

Thank You!... or Patience... or Don't Cry... Madagascar goes along with all that they were doing on the UYI albums. Same type of epic ballad and a good song.

Get it out of yer head Mulletheads...... This record wont be a repeat of AFD!

And it shouldn't be. We should want GNR to progress and grow... granted, AFD is one of the greatest albums of all time... but leave it at that. New times. New band. New songs. With Axl there, the music will be good no matter what, and it will kick ass. Stop comparing new material to old material.

  14. one of the best gnr songs ever, honestly, this songs rocks hard.

!!!! You FUCKING SERIOUS?!?!?!?!?!? One of the best GNR songs EVER!!!! Yea, apparently a lof of people agreed with you, ya know judging by its success. NOT. Jesus, that song is fucking terrible. Lyrics are def good... but the rest is just trash. It's not a GNR song at all. It was an experiment by Axl to see if people would like the direction he wanted to take. OBVIOUSLY, no one did, so he's trying to get back to what made him the best in the world. Which isn't industrial crap.

  15. If there is one thing we have learnt this year from GNR touring, it's that Mr. Rose has his clock set about two hours behind everybody else. What caused the riot at the first 2002 show? Axl didn't show up on time. We nearly seen a repeat of this at KROQ, and last night yet again was late.

Doesn't anybody else think that if Axl keeps up this attitude of arriving on stage an hour late it's only a matter of time before a tough crowd decides they're not taking it anymore? If Axl doesn't want to risk a riot, he should try to show up on time.

Dude, u idiot... when are people going to realize he doesn't show up on time??? who fuckin cares??!?! honestly. it sucks sometimes, but he's been characteristically LATE SINCE 1987!!!!!!! stop fucking bitching about it. If people haven't given up on them yet about being late, why would they now. Riots happen at the shows that are regrettable, but in reality, that only adds to the allure and mystique that surrounds this band and adds to the reputation as the world's most dangerous band. It's part of the attraction, part of the show. He's a rock star and an egomanic... he will never be on time. That's the way it is and we'll all live with it because the final product is worth waiting for. LET IT GO.

  16. Go to the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Democracy#Track_listing

Those stated above are statd as "confirmed for CD"

Unless this site is not accurate, all signs point to it as being so.....THIS IS THE LIST. rock3

You're actually going to trust an online encyclopedia?!?!? That list is basically what we've all been hearing for the last year. See the "sources" following the song names? Exactly the same sources we've heard, discussed, and read about for the last year from various other rumor mills and websites. Wikapedia is NOT a reliable source, or one that we should look to for answers. That is just someone organizing the last year's rumors and "confirmations" onto a page... of which i believe anyone can sign onto and edit as well, so it cannot be seen as THE LIST. We've all heard certain songs WILL be on CD and other WILL NOT, but they are only rumors. And they'll stay that way until we have that fucking CD in our hands. Everyone just needs to chill and relax, enjoy the leaks until we get the album, and then we'll know and prolly find something else to bitch about. cheers

  17. I'm not at all dissapointed that 'Better' will be the single because it's a great song. I personally can't wait to hear the likes of 'Madagascar' and 'The Blues' on a finished album. Plus all the material that Axl has to throw around, didn't Richard say the plan was 3 records over 3 years beginning this year? If you consider that then we have so much to look forward to.

Definately looking forward to hearing studio versions of Madagascar and The Blues... two of my favorites of the new material

  18. What's wrong with a good pop rock album?

Besides, the leaks we've heard are a little bit of everything. There's pop, rock, heavy stuff, slow unusual arrangements that are cool as fuck, er, I mean twat.

Sum41 is more like a modern punk band.

Sum 41 is not fucking punk. The represent conformity and corporate influence, everything that punk was against back in the day. Modern and punk don't go together. The only punk bands left are ones 95% of the people don't know...

  19. Well written and interesting read, although I think you might be over-estimating the abilities of the new guitarist, especially comparing Finck's stage presence to that of Angus Young. WAY OFF the mark. Fundamentally, the new guitarist might be better than the original line-up (huge maybe by the way), but they still don't have the same musical chemistry that the original line up had. They're getting there, and God willing they continue to do so, but they are not to the same level as the original members yet, whether they can be argued to be better muscians or not. We can only hope this GNR continues its growth and evolution and matures into a great band. I, for one, would love to see the orignial line up back together because of the music they created and the chemistry that allowed them to do so, but I'm starting to really like their new music, so as long as there is a new GNR album on the shelves by the end of the year, i'll be a happy man.
