  1. CHRIS CORNELL: 'Scream' First-Week Sales In 20-25K Range - Mar. 12, 2009

According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, former SOUNDGARDEN/AUDIOSLAVE singer Chris Cornell's third solo album, "Scream", is on track to move between 20,000 and 25,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

looks like it flopped....hopefully this is the end to chris cornells foray into dance-pop music...

not really surprising though.....I doubt most fans of pop music really want to hear a 40+year old alt/grunge singer making justin timberlake throwaways......and most fans of audioslave/soundgarden dont want to hear Cornell making justin timberlake throwaways!

  2. heres the new video "part of me"...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Viku5XzpmMg

pretty abysmal.....this just screams mid life crisis to me...a 40something singer from the 90s making justin timberlake-esque pop music......the thing is, the beats arent even good...it almost sounds like timberland took the beats from the last Justin timberlake album that didnt make the cut and said "eh lets just give them to cornell"

  3. To me, it doesn't look fake. It makes sense, as it is a logical choice, but why release a new single when the video for Better isn't even out yet??

because better already peaked and is falling at lightning speed.....theres no use to release a better video really when the single has played its course..

that being said...if GNR dont promote "street of dreams" or release a single...it will face the same fate as "better" its too bad because a few interviews and a video and I think BETTER couldve been a big rock hit....but it only peaked at #18...

  4. SEBASTIAN BACH Wants To Release Two New Albums This Year - Jan. 26, 2009

Former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach has issued the following update via his official newsletter, dubbed the "Daily DeBachle":

"My plan in 2009 is to release two CDs, if possible. One will be the CD I am working on with Jeffrey Steele and Vicky McGehee, the team that brought you 'Battle with the Bottle' [the song Bach sang on CMT's hit series, 'Gone Country']. The other CD will be a straight-up, hard-ass rocker, the follow-up to 'Angel Down'. I plan on writing this record with my band, Roy Z ['Angel Down' producer who has worked with JUDAS PRIEST, BRUCE DICKINSON, HALFORD and HELLOWEEN] hopefully, and definitely Jamey Jasta of the band HATEBREED. Jamey and I are getting together this month to record some demos. I am not going to make a HATEBREED record, I am going to work on material with Jamey that will be heavy and anthemic but still make sense next to the other CDs I have done. I am also planning on releasing a new DVD in 2009. Can't go into the details quite yet, but there will be more high-quality live DVD material coming your way this year, a la 'Roadrage'. Looks like I will be starting work on the new DVD this month.

"Don't get confused by me doing a 'country' album and a 'rock' album at the same time. I have always hated labels. What I have learned over my lifetime is, I don't make decisions for my voice, my voice makes decisions for me. I have to get out of the way of my own voice so it can be heard loud and clear. My only objective in making CDs is to make them 'good.' Hopefully these two new CDs will fall into this category!"

  5. Didn't think it was that bad. Might actually start to like it after a few more listens. I'm sure the standard consensus will be negative since there's no metal guitars and screaming, but whatever.

its not that, its just that this feels contrived...like hes trying to sound like everything on mainstream top40 radio as to get a hit....

if we want to compare, you could say that Weilands new album certainly is different....but its not mainstream sounding either....and you can tell that it seems hes doing it because it is something he likes....

It kind of reminds me of when Rock artists like Def Leppard/Bon Jovie start doing duets with Country acts...are they really country fans?? or just shilling to the country crowd?

  6. they killed themselves by picking such a silly name......I mean look at the people here laughing at them when they prolly havent heard their music..

Really, they are just a good bluesy hard rock band....

  7. I know, man, and I wasn't condemning shredding, and certainly not saying it was easy. I agree that it can be as impressive, if not more so, than most other styles of guitar playing. I merely meant that a whole generation of guitarists see screamo bands like Lamb Of God and Bullet For My Valentine and assume that speed=good, without even considering artistic technique. That's what sets Metallica apart from other thrash metal for me, their ability to create fast, frantic shredding that has a timeless flowing melody to it. Just look at Orion or For Whom The Bell Tolls

I agree, these guitarists are wasted alone, I've been trying to track down some of the stuff Buckethead did with Viggo Mortensen just to see how it works with a singer like him. Though there's a lot to be said still for instrumental work. Something like Satriani's "Surfing With The Alien" or Buckethead's "Final Wars", for example, would be ruined for me with a singer.

Oh, and though I always preferred David Lee Roth as a Van Halen singer over Hagar, I'm pretty excited about Chickenfoot too.

I was actually agreeing with ya dude. no doubt...

and ya, I agree I really prefer David Lee Roth as a singer for Van Halen....actually cant stand much of any of the van hagar stuff(although I like sammys solo stuff)....too "soccor mom music" to me...vs. the "party rock heavy guitars" of Roth...

  8. Hells yeah to that, Stacks!

A true virtuoso guitarist; Zappa, Buckethead etc, can play a colossal range of stuff. Whether it be shredding, slow bluesy stuff or 70's style hard-edged riffing.

I know guys that can shred like Kerry King or Dave Mustaine, but but that's about all they can do. And they certainly aren't virtuoso's

the thing is, theres a difference between just "Shredding" and being able to create a great shred solo well.....you listen to guys like Buckethead, randy rhoads, eddie van halen, Joe satriani....and they arent just shredding....they are playing with alot of technique and accuracy, but also have alot of feel to their playing...

Kerry King can play fast....but I dont think anyone would call the guy a virtuoso...

the only problem I may have is that I feel alot of times virtuosos are wasted...just making instrumental albums for other guitarists to hear.....take Buckethead for example....look at what he could do in a band setting with GNR?? its also why im excited to hear Chickenfoot which is an album Joe Satriani is going to do with sammy hagar/michael anthony....

  9. it seems to me that some Slash fans just want to put their hands on their ears and discredit anything negative about slash....

I really dont get why people feel the need to take sides anyway...NONE of us were there and all we can go on is accounts from others...and take what we believe to be true..

I just find it hilarious that people will argue on for pages on issues they didnt live through.....just let it go...and take it for what it is...2 sides of the same story....

  10. He claimed that alcohol and smoking both would fuck up his voice. That doesn't mean he's going to give two shits about it. He is a rock star after all. And given all of the shit that has happened over the years, I will never truly believe Axl or any of them unless they can provide actual proof. Remember the "letter to the fans" claiming the album would be released in March 2007? Only took a year and a half longer for it to finally be released. :rofl-lol: But what I find insanely unfortunate in this is that instead of skepticism for all parties involved, the media fed one side of the story to the public. Their job is to report all sides of the story. They failed miserably in this regard and showed just how much of an agenda they have against Axl. If you think Axl has received a fair shake from the media and the public regarding the breakup of the band, then I've got oceanfront property in Arizona to sell to you.

What exactly do you expect the media to do when one side is willing to give his version and the other side isn't? Not allow Slash to tell his side until if/when Axl was ready to tell his? That's not how it works. The fact is, there was one person who wanted to share his experiences and one who didn't. It's ridiculous to fault the media or the public for that.

They oh-so-quickly believed every word Slash said, as if a drug addict is a 100% accurate source on ANYTHING, even the shit happening in his own life. Reading his book, it's a miracle he didn't get himself killed with how he was going through life every day on drugs. Fact is, Axl was always viewed as a huge prick thanks in part to his own actions and the actions of the media. And when Slash/Duff decided to tell their side of the story, there was zero scrutiny of it from the media.

Well, Slash was in the band, why wouldn't his story be believable? I understand your point about his addiction, but the fact is the man was still able to function, quite well actually, showed up to every gig, took the stage every night and played the shit out of his guitar. Even how, when and where he did his drugs is pretty precise and clear. His memory isn't as clouded as you're making it out to be, the guy wasn't passed out 24/7 drooling in the fetal position for all the years he was in Guns. He gave his version, never waivered on the details, and they were collaborated by another former member.

Of Course people wated to hear Axl's version! You don't think the media didn't try to contact him everytime Slash spoke? No one was willing to give him the opportunity to tell his side? Hmmmm....doubtful. It seems obvious that Axl was going to speak when he was good and ready. Again, I don't see how that is anyone else's fault.

That's the one thing that sticks out at me; if Slash were completely lying, why hasn't Duff ever refuted what Slash said? I think there's truth from both ends, and this doesn't change my opinion of any of them.

EDIT: Why do people have to choose sides? Is this middle school? For me, together or not, Slash is always going to be my favorite guitarist, and Axl my favorite frontman. Their lawsuits and arguments will never change the fact that they were fucking magical.

But, isnt Duff still friends with slas, still in a band with slash? and not with axl? it would seem that Duff wouldnt want to come out and say 'hey slash lied!" when hes in a band with the guy....and not with axl...

To be honest, I think theres Truth in Axls version.....I think theres truth in Slash's version....its just they are told from different ends of the spectrum of why this all went down...

personally id rather just enjoy the music!

  11. Singer Scott Weiland, who has just released his second solo album, "Happy In Galoshes", recently spoke to Edna Gundersen of USA Today about the possibility of a new studio album from Stone Temple Pilots, the band with which he completed an extensive and highly touted U.S. reunion tour.

"When you commit to a band that big that sold so many records and touched that many people, you can't easily get out of it," he said. "I'm finally on my own, at a place I've wanted to be for so long."

On being gun-shy about band duty, he said, "There's a beauty in being part of a band, when there's equality and trust. But at this phase of my life, I want to write and not have to think about whether a song is going to be a hit. I want to explore the music that inspires me, and I don't want to ape myself.

"I've been saying for a long time that I couldn't see myself shaking my (butt) in leather pants when I'm 40. My goal in STP was to leave an imprint. That was done. I want to move forward and be in control of what I do musically. I have kids, and I don't want to spend my life on the road."

"Happy In Galoshes" sold 10,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 96 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Scott Weiland celebrated the release of "Happy In Galoshes" by making an appearance at the Virgin Megastore in Hollywood, California on November 24. Scott performed live in the Hollywood & Highland courtyard, and followed it up by taking part in a CD-signing at the Virgin Megastore.

  12. We get it a bit later here in Canada. It's the episode where he sits down with his mother and cusses her out. Are there any episodes where he talks about Gn'R? Cuz quite frankly, I don't give a shit to see him wallow in his own self-pity. I just wanna hear if he talks at all about the band. Well people?

ummm, do you know why he cursed out his mom?

his mother sided with his step-father when he was younger. when he came home from school one day his step-father put all of steven's belongings outside and kicked him out for no reason...his mother didnt do anything. he lived with his grandmother afetr that.

when he was in GN'R he was basically supporting his whole family, then when he had his stroke and went into a coma his mother took over power of attorney and took all his money without trying to help him out

as for talking about the band, he sorta did...in the first episode when the Dr. went to pick him up (he was high already) Steven started talking about Slash' new solo album, and how he called him up and told Slash he would drum on it for free, then Steven said something along the lines of "But guess who he's getting to play drums on it? that piece of shit matt sorum!"...he then said the reason why he wants to get sober is "so that he (Steven) can have his best friend Slash back" it was quite sad when he said that. since then nothing else has really been said about GN"R...'cept for Rod Stewart's son saying he liked steven already without even knowing him just because he was in GN'R

Yeah. I saw the first episode and the part where he talked about Slash was pretty sad. They showed some pictures of the two of them from the old days. Honestly though, I don't think that Steven could handle touring or playing on an album anymore. He's gotta realize that he was part of one of the last great rock bands. And it's over.

I think adler could easily play on an album, heck isnt he playing live in a month or so?

I hope slash lets him play on a couple tracks for his solo album....id love to hear popcorns drums with slash's guitar again..
