2 weeks is obviously bullshit.....by that time, the CDs would be produced, a single would be out.....there would be TOO much $$ to lose on best buys part...theres no going back by that point..

the best buy convention happened....the new songs in RB2 and Body of lies happened....the RSS stuff is true(I checked myself asking a best buy employee), mysteron said the plan is to releas it 11/23...so now all we can do is wait and see if these plans come to fruitation...in gnr world things change, but it sounds like stuffs on the right track..theyll announce it when Best Buy/Universal feel fit to announce it...if the deal was Just signed a couple weeks ago, they need to get track ready for single release, promo activities in place etc. before they actually announce it....

True...but the big argument from those who think the 23rd/25th rumor is 100% fact are using is "Billboard is always right about this stuff". Meanwhile, still nothing from the GNR camp about not only this RUMOR (and it IS just a rumor so far) or even a brand spankin' new song on this last weekend's #3 movie. I'm beginning to wonder if Axl even knew that the song was going to be used in the movie.

I find it funny that the, seemingly, most important part of the convention wasn't recorded...

Billboard is the official site for music industry info like the billboard album/singles charts.....if they say its coming out on the 23rd, their sources are reliable, and most likely could even be from Azoff......this isnt some silly bullshit rumor or vague "2005 is the year of GNR"....now stuff could go down and it doesnt happen....but dont discount Billboard as if its some music fans blog....they are a highly reputible site..

anyone saying downloading doesnt affect cd sales needs to get a grip...it DOES!! how else can you explain album sales going down around 10-15% per year??

all you need to sell is 50K to get a top 10, sometimes top 5 album!!

I can explain it by saying that everything Nielsen soundscan tracks is pure shit, and the trend towards commercialized pop crap has killed anyone's desire to get price gouged for a CD.

Maybe you'll call it rose colored glasses, but the state of mainstream music at the conception of compact discs was MUCH better than the Nickelback, Hannah Montana, T.I., Rhianna trash we have now.

its a chicken and the egg scenario.....have people downloaded because of the shitty music on the radio these days, or did the fact that no one was buying cds anymore make the studios create nice safe mainstream acts to sell to radio...

but when you look at a band get TONS of airplay and only sell 200-300K albums....and cd sales declining each year....you cant say downloading doesnt have an affect on it......bands would go diamond in the 80s....now if you go platinum, or even gold its a Huge accomplishment...

take chinese democracy for example.....it would probably sell 2x as much had it come out in 2002 than if it come out this year...

Is anybody else starting to get the feeling that Universal hasn't approved the deal? It's absolutely ridiculous that GNR hasn't confirmed or denied the reports going around. Of course ridiculousness is par for the course when it comes to GNR. I just hope the record company isn't trying to force some draconian shit on Axl.

Now, I didn't say that there won't be different configurations of that release. Including possible bonus materials on bonus discs and so on.

Metallica didnt release their single until August 28th...the cd came out September 12th....so they really dont have to release a single until even November...it will go top 10in a couple days...its new GNR..theres alot of hype around it...

these deals dont require much promo because Best Buy will treat it like a commodity, like the cheap computer items they have on every corner...dont be surprised if there is a CD rack at every aisle, and a big display in the front, CD songs playing over the speakers...they are going to shove this in your face every time you enter a best buy...thats how walmart does it..to great success...

what promo is there really for this ac/dc album? apart from there being a single on the radio...walmart will do the rest...
