axl has been silent for many years...in that time how much negativity have we heard from slash etc? quite a lot. axl is addressing a "fan" board directly, with his version of the story. what more could you ask for? difference is axl has had A LOT of questions to answer over time, more so than slash or anyone has done. so he's answering what we've always asked, want him to polish the truth? why would he do that? it is what it is, thats your problem if you can't handle the truth. if things weren't nicey nicey, why would you expect axl to say they were? other band members certainly haven't. he has just as much of a right to speak up...isn't that what we wanted? if the truth hurts you, don't read.
-
wow! good read.
pretty funny that people give axl shit for not speaking up/telling his side of the story, and when he does, that aint good enough! fair play to you if you wanna question the validity of axl's words, but people will always pick a fight with axl and argue for the sake of arguing (probably for the reasons axl explains). there are some hard to please bastards out there...i guess the same can be said for some peoples attitude towards CD.
maybe i'm gettin kinda old and lazy, but I don't feel the need to dispute everything i read. to be honest, i've always been inclined to believe axl over slash or any other person involved (or got themself involved for their own shameless publicity...seriously, remember scott weilands malicious little rant? i lost any future hopes for respect for that douche right there and then). maybe its because i've always felt axl has more integrity, and does things for the art of it. don't get me wrong, i love pretty much all of slash's material on guns and like it on some VR songs. but my belief is that axl is an artist, and does things purely for the music. challenge that if you must...
we always knew "there's a lot goin' on" behind the scenes, so it's interesting to hear more than one side of the story (and from a pretty reputable source hey...). and i appreciate and respect axl's level of dignity regarding the shit thats been said about to him.
so just a thank you to axl. i love CD, not once did i sit there whilst listening to it and think "this would sound better with...(whoever)". a part of me thought i might think that, you know listen to it and think "this needs slash" or what ever. but i love it for what it is. it completely sounds like a natural progression of guns, and i'm definately loving this chapter.
its so hard to think of one question. one wouldn't suffice, and i don't wanna be greedy. so here's one, im just curious about and steering off the more legal and heavy path....(sorry if its been asked before....internet is bollocks)
axl - are there any "new" bands/artists out there that you're into, and any you feel Guns can relate to?
au revoir!
-
its a fucking great album, maybe one of the best commercially successful rock of recent times, but theres A LOT of lesser known amazing rock music. get into it.
-
excellent band. but they gotta stop letting actresses sing with them.
-
hands down they put on the best show ive ever seen.
this tour is gonna blow the balls off everything. the concept and visual effects is going to be mind blowing.
did i read right that trent wants to play all the albums in their full entirety? now THAT, is a good idea!!
-
i liked some of the music from that a lot.
but...what trent says goes. pretty much.
-
its excellent.
time to pretend is an instant classic.

GNR - hammersmith, london, 2006. for the sheer amazement of seeing axl before me.
NIN - wolverhampton, sept 2007. for the sheer perfection of chaos, musical brilliance, and perfect visual and audio quailty.
and a lot of other gnr shows, for very different reasons.
-
he is the best. ive seen him 3 times with NIN and once with the vandals back in the 90s.
he's phenominal with NIN, he adds another dimension to the year zero stuff live, when they open to HYPERPOWER! josh kills it, flawless.
plus he is an awesome person, he made me a sandwich not long ago. also, he's been making insane videos whilst on tour with NIN - watch them, they're hilarious http://www.youtube.com/user/joshfreese !!!
-
Sept 18 will be the last show played by this touring incarnation of NIN. And it sounds like Trent's going to go more electronic. Sad, although Aaron North needs to go anyways.
Anyways..
I'm honestly scared, and excited for what he is planning..
Fuck..
I could kick myself for not seeing them last tour..
don't be scared...the YZ stuff is excellent live.
aaron wont be going anyway. a lot of the songs on YZ use guitar or can use them live. NIN have 6 YZ songs they play now in a standard set, and aaron plays on all of them. so the theory that he'll be out is bull shit
ive seen them 3 times now. the last show i saw in Wolverhampton was without doubt the best show i have ever seen. it was flawless, and breath taking. trent had SO much energy, the band just work so well together, the sound was insanely good. plus the visual aspect to the show really enhances the experience.
i feel like all i do is sing the praises of NIN, but it will never do them justice. they're the best band around, and trent is unique in his talent.

You made me chuckle at the pun. Enough to view the thread and say: yes, they do - but there are morons who follow that sort of thing.
and you dont think rock fans are morons?!
i love hip hop. good hip hop. idiots nowdays think that hip hop means 50 cent and all that shit.
grandmaster flash baby.

anything by motley crue.
that recent song by fergie...what the fuck is that about. one of the worst songs ive ever heard.
-
Justice - Dance http://youtube.com/watch?v=fo_QVq2lGMs That'll make you wanna dance, cuh.
LOVE that song. video is awesome too. the whole french electro scene is pretty cool
-
anything by the duke spirit, awesome band.
something a little more dance/electro -
the knife - heartbeats (AMAZING COVER!! strongly recommend this)
ladytron - international dateline / true mathmatics
the chemical brothers - private psychadelic reel / setting sun / leave home
daft punk - da funk / around the world
lcd soundsystem - disco infilatrator

man i cant wait to see them, 30 days to go!!
when they actually tour the larger venues and play a year zero set, the stage design is going to be INCREDIBLE. im excited. the visual aspect to their shows have always been spectacular, the year zero one should be the tits.
has anyone else been checking nin.com regularly? they updated frequently via mobile with pictures. there was one of a stage with dozens of tvs on stage....fucking awesome. im thinking its gonna be some kind of survivalism cctv thing playing behind them.
-
im addicted to him at the moment, just check these treats out -
just awesome.

the trent guy hails from around here so theyre slightly big where i live, but i cant seem to get into them. some of their stuff is catchy, but some of it makes me believe that my cell phone is going off on vibrate. can anyone recommend some songs?
depends what you're into. some of their stuff is more "rock" type songs rather than phone vibration noises...
my favourite NIN song ever has to be 'somewhat damaged'. its just fucking insane!! its one of their heavier songs i guess. but definately download it. i love the lyrics to it, painfully clear just how screwed up trent was when he made it -
Made the choice to go away
Drink the fountain of decay
Tear a hole exquisite red
Fuck the rest and stab it dead
anywho, download these bad boys too -
eraser - (its not instrumental, vocals kick in about 2minutes in) excellent drumming, quite hypnotic.
closer - the "fuck you like an animal" song, most people seem to like it.
march of the pigs
wish
we're in this together now
the big come down
with teeth
reptile
burn
ringfinger
terrible lie - try get the KROQ'05 live version, it's incredible. this song is just so much better live
sin - ^ same as above.
something i can never have - more easy listening
la mer
dead souls - joy division cover. amazing
in this twilight
survivalism
just a few. all winners.
-
she's always sucked, lets face it.

one of, if not my favourite band ever. trent is in a league of his own. i have the upmost respect for him - besides making incredible music, he's done it with integrity, stayed clear of the spotlight and media. what he does, he does for the sake of his art. the music subsequently is brutally honest and sincere.
i love the how he can make songs so ferocious like 'mr self destruct' and 'the line begins to blur', but can also construct such beautiful melodies like 'a warm place' and 'hurt'.
plus they are AMAZING live. i mean, blows every other band out of the water. i saw them in march, and i was in awe. the line up at the moment is awesome. theyve always had incredible musicians on board (fragility tour line up - oh my gaaaaaawd, so good). but trent is a whirlwind of energy, anger, fragility and sex on stage.
aside from that, they have an incredible catalogue of music. theres not one NIN song i dislike. they go from one extreme to the other, that to me is so smart.
anyways..i could talk about them all day. i dont trust people who dont like them.

Also something else I'm glad I gave another once over is the Stone Roses' Self titled Debut. I don't know how I've been living without tracks like She Bangs the Drums, Bye Bye Badman, Made of Stone and I am the Resurrection.
stone roses are awesome. maybe you'd like primal scream and happy mondays too.

I think Era Vulgaris was one of the most boring albums I've ever heard. Homme has become incredibly uninspirative judging on the latest album.
I think the best album so far is Year Zero.
EDIT: Chris, SO FAR you idiot.
what the hell do you want baby face??
youre fucking mental!!
-
year zero, definately. for its incredible promotion and concept, the really brave step that trent took, and for the brilliant music on it. trent is just in a league of his own.
closely follwed by icky thump. i love the crazyness of it, like the bagpipes...
era vulgaris is ok, but mostly it bored me.i love 'sick sick sick' though.
libertad...one of those throw away rock albums that initially grabs you and you think its awesome, but then it wears off and becomes a little tedious. some catchy tunes on there, but nothing memorable.
-
Anyone catch AFI butchering Ziggy Stardust?
fuck, they did that? that sounds horrific.
anyway - my favourite performance -
That was awesome, when I was watching it I had wound through about 5 hours of artists, then I was like "FUCK YEAH! Beastie Boys!" Deffinately one of the best performances
theyre amazing live, i saw them a few years ago and was blown away. their energy is unreal, and theyre still so cool and diverse. i love the sabotage performance where they all take to the instruments. just something about seeing middle aged white men in suits running around the stage rapping is awesome!

petty? i don't think so. and if axl considers his version of the truth, actually being the truth, why does he not have a right to express himself like everyone else has? axl's got a lot of defending to do, and has taken a battering over time from a lot of parties. freedom of speech dude.
why would you want a reunion when they wont work as a team anymore? you've said yourself axl is "childish" to discredit members, so you'd gain some respect for him would you if he got the band back together just to please fans who can't move on? wow, can't think of anything LESS id wanna see then one of my favourite bands, back on stage, hating each other! as you said, time to let dead dogs lie.
