  1. dont stress about it, if you got pissed off at everyone who slagged off axl, you'd be pissed off a long time.

axl's having a blast, he's doing what he does best and pleasing his loyal fans. let it slide

  2. The single wrost thing if the album diesn´t come out this year is that they know about at this very moment and still haven´t put out a press release saying so. They don´t care if the fans are hoping for a release only to have that bit of hope crushed come the end of the year. If they really want us to buy an excuse they should´ve put out a press release the SECOND they knew something had happened to delay the release of the record. Bur knowing Merck there will be a lame ass excuse at the end of the year or even in 2007 (when we all already know the album didnt come out) and that is just not gonna fly this time. They really need to get their heads out of their asses and understand that we aren´t sheep that will take any kind of treatment and still follow the herd.

thats exactly why i think itl'll be released this year. seriously, how can they be that stupid! they read the boards, they know how people feel; they'd lose a lot of fans and they can't afford that. 06 rock3

  3. i think the album will be out this year. i find it hard to believe they'd have that little respect towards us. and you're right ER, it is about respect.

if they dont release it and give some half arsed excuse soon, its too late - a lot of people have said they dont believe it's out this year, so the "apology" will be too little too late. surely the managment and the band can see they'd lose a lot of fans by not releasing it, and not giving us any communication....they cant be that stupid. that's why im holding out for an 06 release. if im wrong, then im truly stumped.

  4. Tommy by far. He was phenomenal last night.

Who would you have chosen before seeing them last night?

    Tommy. I've said this before.

I'm a fan of the Replacements. Tommy is a fantastic bassist that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy out of Duff's league.

In terms of stage presence, also Tommy. I've said this before last night too, judging just by bootlegs, but Tommy was a ball of energy onstage last night.

And he wasn't wearing a weird outfit yesterday. He looked quite the rockstar in leather, jeans, and a black t shirt.

    rock3

so what if he wears tartan anyway, the man looks good what ever.

    tommy is the best. ever.

  5. Whats his best album to get/start with?

    :)

apostrophe or shiek yerbouti. he has such a massive catalogue, its hard to pick where to start. hot rats has mind blowing guitar solos and instrumentals, apostrophe is a concept album based around eskimos and its just amazing (esp yellow snow and nanouk rubs it), shiek yerbouti has a few of the greatest zappa songs like 'broken hearts are for assholes' and 'bobby brown' which highlight his wit and skill for social commentary

  6. he was a genius.

his intellect, wit, and gift for composition and guitar was god-like.

'apostrophe' is one of the greatest albums ever. 'willie the pimp' from 'hot rats' is one of the best guitar oriented songs i've ever heard, its fucking superb.

he is soorly missed, no one is quite like him....well maybe weird al minus the musical talent.

  7. i dont get why people say" duff was cooler cos he was punk" then slate tommy for wearing tartan suits, when they're just as much as punk as duff's braces! tommy grew up in a punk band, those influences are clear to see on the stage.

  8. I saw both: Duff blows Tommy away. No discussuion possible. Plenty of reasons for that:

    - In the newGNR, there are too many people onstage, so Tommy, the bass player, is in the shadow.

    - Duff's bass sound is recognizable, it's a really specific bass sound whereas Tommy's bass sound is pretty neutral.

    - Duff has a "Rockstar" aura. His stage presence is fucking great.

    - technically I think they are as good, but you definitely hear more Duff in VR than you hear Tommy in the newGNR. Blame the 3 guitar players idea. This idea totally overshadows the Bass. You just can't hear it onstage.

I beg to differ, I have seen 'nuGNR' 3 times total and Tommys bass playing was heard, I heard it pretty clear.

agreed, esp on the new songs, the bass is really distinctive.

  9. i dont like the whole comparison thing.

but personally, tommy. he's a great guy, you guys dont know how kind and wonderful he is

I agree with no0bs here... Although I don't know him personally, he plays better Bass.

who you calling noob?! im old skool you know it

  10. I think for the "If I Could Go Back Inside To The Place In My Soul etc.."

Should be Axl walking through a mirror and appearing as the old Axl on the other end.

It wouldn't be that hard to do, just cut some old Axl video from the past in and green screen it.

But for some reason I always pictured Gn'R first video, showing incomplete body shots of various members (obviously mainly Axl) during the build up and then the final shot before the song really kicks in is Axl looks face on to the camera (In his glasses of course).

And The background is some sort of light blue swirly design - think of KISS' Pyscho Circus video.

Dude! What a fuckin' awesome idea!!!!!!! :shades::shades::shades:

Seriously though - you shouldn't refer to your own ideas as awesome- that's for others to decide.

    OMG LOLS UR GUD!!

actually i had a similar idea. like...black...and...smokey...and dramatic lighting, arty shots, quick flashes of the band members, maybe flickering between a plot and the band :wub:
