  1. I watched the pro shot performance on youtube (If anyone else hasn't seen it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruk9wl11Upc&feature=endscreen&NR=1)

It sounds a little uninspired, but I don't know if it's because of the Pro Shot mix, because the crowd isn't very responsible, most of the members onstage don't seem really into it, or a combination of all of the above.

I'm not biased towards new GNR or the original lineup so I'm just calling it how I see/hear

I was at the event and can agree with your thoughts about the proshot sound. Live at the event it was much more impressive. The guitar work was incredibly loud and it echoed really well throughout the venue. It was really loud and it was a total step up from everything else that night. They rocked it legit. It was actually hard to hear Myles Kennedy a little. In person it was much more impressive of a performance than watching it on HBO. At the venue people were freaking out during and shortly after the GNR performance. On HBO with the pro shot sound board its much less forgiving if you will. It did seem more toned down on tv for sure until the guys seemed to loosen up in Paradise City. It still was great on tv nontheless and Slash was pretty spot on.

  2. I just watched the beginning of the HBO airing and its obvious they edited out all the footage of Axl Rose that was shown at the live induction. Maybe because Axl wanted it that way or because the Rock Hall wanted to avoid giving him any due. In the beginning of the event when they showed the montage of the prior inductions they left out the brief clips of Axl inducting Elton and only showed Springsteen singing "Come Together" and edited out Axl. I specifically remember at the live event the crowd reacted strongly to those couple clips of Axl during the montage. I guess this explains why they didn't show any of old GNR footage during their actual induction. Not a big deal I guess but from someone who was there the HBO broadcast definitely stripped all Axl images out.

  3. Yea I just watched the HBO airing. They definitely cut out a good bit but I expected it since they cut down the 5.5 hr show into 2.5 hrs. They edited out a good bit of BJ Armstrong's speech (he spoke a good bit about the specific songs on Appetite, Lies, and the Illusions which wasn't shown on the edited HBO airing.), parts of a couple members' speeches (Matt and Duff mainly who both spoke the longest), and the Mr. Brownstone performance. They did the same with RHCPs and edited even more out with some of the other inductees. The one thing I was surprised the most about the GNR editing is that they didn't show any of the old footage and highlights of the band when BJ Armstrong was giving his induction speech. They left those old clips in the HBO airing for every other band and I thought that was some of the most powerfull images of the live GNR induction because it showed how great they were (at the live induction after BJ said "We are here to induct Guns n Roses" they showed some awesome clips of Jungle from the Ritz in 88, and other live clips of live PC and Sweet Child which gave me goosebumps). Not sure if it was intentional for some reason or not but GNR was the only inductee they edited all those career highlights out. Overall I thought the HBO airing was cool and GNR/RHCPs definitely had the most face time. Pretty sure also they moved the RHCPs to last because up until a couple days before the event GNR weren't planning on playing. Everyone there was surprised they didn't save GNR for last and a good portion of the crowd left after GNR performed and before RHCPs got on stage (no offense to the Peppers but it was obvious a lot of the air left the building after Guns played. Not that it matters at an event like this but GNR were definitely the highlight (my bias aside).

  4. I posted this in another thread, but my thoughts: I have to say everyone from Guns last night was the perfect example of class. They really did it right. Even "excitable" Steven was great. I still love Axl and the current Guns but last night was a class act by all those there. At an event like that its not about being the "best," but the guys that played last night stole the show. As much as I like the Chili Peps the Guns segment was truely great. Impossible to follow and although the Chili Peps rocked, the excitement in the venue clearly slowed after Guns performed. My bias aside, it is undeniable that Guns showed everyone how its done last night. Love him or hate him, Slash's guitar work on those 3 live songs they played last night was iconic. Kuddos to BJ Armstrong for a great speech as well. He even stuck up for Axl when the crowd got negative. I hope HBO shows all of GNR's induction. If their badass rocking performance sounds half as good on HBO as in person you all will be impressed. I told Duff when I saw him in the airport today that I was never more proud to be a fucking Guns N' Roses fan than I am after last night.

  6. Jam

    Paradise

Playing over 3 hrs at age 50. I don't care how may guitar solo breaks there were, Axl still sang for about 2.5 hrs tonight. Another monumental effort. No matter what you say about Axl, when he gets on stage he absolutely gives it his all. More than any other lead singer I've ever seen or heard of.

  7. I'll go with fake. However, the idea of releasing one single is not that out of the question. A whole new album seems highly unlikely right now but they could have easily mixed/completed one new song even while they were on tour recently. Since Axl seemed to say in the TMS interview that they were still planning on releasing music videos for Chinese Democracy, I could honestly see an anouncment about a Chinese Democracy re-release with a new single or two on it. That would be kinda cool. It could just be an announcement about tour dates though. Honestly I'll be happy with any kind of announcement this soon after a tour. Any activity bodes well I think rather than silence.

  8. I had a computer and my phone going at 10am EST on the nose and there were no more seats available online and all I got was busy signals via phone. I got 2 tix for $400 each shortly after that in section 47 on Stubhub. Looks like those seats are going for around a grand now but could change as the event nears. Pretty sure its gonna be shown on HBO a few weeks after the actual event.

  9. Well I got a couple tix via stub hub in the Lower balcony. Here's to hoping somehow Axl shows up with the rest of them.

You mind me asking what you paid? I have better seats than the two sets on ebay going for $1,100 and $900.

I got a couple for a 4 spot each. Would have been nice to be one of the few who got them via the site and phone number but oh well. Who knows the prices may go down as the next couple months pass but I decided to just get them and not worry about it. Sec 47.

  10. hmmmmm so yeah, cool! Anyways, on to more important shit. How about the current tour? Great performances, long and strong sets, great reviews. I hope the train keeps on rolling. The inertia can only grow. They're winning the world over one gig at a time. Three hour sets..........are you kidding me? That's all that matters. They're the best live band in the world right now. Word.

  11. sounds like the opening act just started in the background while the DJ was talking. Don't Cry on now. I doubt they'll stream the whole show, probably just listen in between songs they play on the radio. Who knows though.....its Mexico. It'll be cool though cause you know the stations gonna let us listen in to at least when Guns hits the stage.
