Tony The Cat Martin rules!!!

Wut?!
Dio is one of the most respected metal vocalists and lyricists in music, certainly more so than Ozzy.
not outside of metal he's not---his costumes, his ridiculous devil horns, his EVIL stares, the whole kit and kaboodle is what non-metal fans think is laughable about metal and why they don't take it seriously
respected lyricist? where? when? by who? 4 year olds?
he's one of the worst lyricists ever, just terrible
Wut?!
Dio is one of the most respected metal vocalists and lyricists in music, certainly more so than Ozzy.
ozzy's not a lyricist either...geezer's sabbath lyrics were perfect
-
I don't agree Dio should've been inducted with Sabbath. If Heaven & Hell were the debut album of a brand new band, there is no way they would've been inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame based on the debut, Mob Rules and Dehumanizer. Talk about losing perspective. If you think for one second those three albums even hold a candle to classics like Paranoid, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Master of Reality then you are smoking some seriously fucked up shit.
Dio era Sabbath is overrated IMO. Black Sabbath with Ozzy is the only version of the band I will ever accept. And Never Say Die and Technical Ecstasy are both better than any Dio-era album.
lol you have it backwards.
i am one who totally despises dio's lyrics...i think they are some of the worst i've ever heard in any genre...
plus as a someone who grew up a metal fan from almost day one, i am of the opposite opinion on dio as most...i think he's part of the reason metal isn't seen in a positive light by others outside the metal circle
i see him as cheesy as hell, with all the ridiculous spinal tap mannerisms to boot, although he wasn't going for laughs...
yes, yes, i know, he has a great voice....but just in sabbath-ozzy was the preeminent metal vocalist of the time and still ranks as one of the best ... he sucks now but he didn't then, he fit the songs to a tee, whereas sabbath-era dio was more dio with a backing band, a killer backing band but still a backing band to his nonsensical gibberish that passed for lyrics
dio is too showy for me, kinda like a metal christina aguilera...both of them have great voices but go too far too often
i see a wolf in the rainbow
and he falls into the fiiiiiiire
lest the angels and the witches
and the fool and the liiiiiiiiar....
ooohhhh see what they have done....
now of course i made those lyrics up in about 3 seconds and it shows...but give someone a set of dio's lyrics and those and they'd be hard pressed to pick out which is which
yes i'm a metal fan of over 35 years that hates dio!

Except for the Usher album. Fuck that

-
aren't they celebrating their 45th anniversary this year?
i'm not the biggest allman bros fan but i do like trucks's albums
-
a lot of them i feel are moments in time when things become a phenomenon...like the dirty dancing soundtrack, the spice girls..or titanic......and those songs, movies and soundtracks may very well hold up and i'm sure hold a special place in millions of people's lives but sales alone aren't what should make something a classic...
take something like the stooges fun house...it sold next to nothing but is a classic...has influenced generations...
but again, the other side of the coin is, is a classic subjective? is it just an opinion? there's so many factors and depending on what side you're on, you'll find criteria to back your claim...
btw, the second spice girls album is a goddamn pop masterpiece
-
What do you consider talentless crap?
If you think Britney is, then what about Shania Twain? Dido? Spice Girls? Mariah Carey? Usher? Well, they all did it...
Oh, The Eagles, the worst fucking band ever on the face of the Earth ever, sold over 20 mil copies of their greatest shits. Fucking terrible bland band. Just utter shit. The worst that music had to offer at that time or any other time, for that matter. Joe Walsh should be ashamed of himself for joining such a by the numbers sell out shit fuck of a cunt bland.
lots of bands I'd suspect you, or other fans of "only rock music with guitars is real and takes talent" would be surprised by have sold over 10 million albums...you may shift your opinion on the "if it sells 10 mil or more, it's a classic"...
some bands/artists/singers that have sold over 20-40 mil of 1 album: shania twain, abba, linkin park, meatloaf, fleetwood mac, ace of base, backstreet boys, whitney houston, alanis morrisette, mariah carey, yes britney spears, celine dion, madonna, adele, spice girls, carole king, norah jones, dido, barbra streisand, supertramp, usher, tina turner
some of them did it multiple times ....

Never Say Die for sure, The Mob Rules not so much

can't wait to watch the eventual video pantless

The Hagar era VH gets way too much stick!
Also, regarding 1984: "Drop Dead Legs" nuff said.
5150 and Balance are right up there with the best of the Roth albums

in respect to some Aussie bands -
Full Moon, Dirty Hearts - INXS. Actually my favourite INXS album but it didn't get a lot of recognition. Features duet vocals with Ray Charles and Crissie Hynde.
Temple Of Low Men and Together Alone, by Crowded House. Late career classics. Just good solid songwriting and clear, often heartbreaking, poignant modern day livin' sentiments by good, clean-livin', well-meaning honest young aussie lads. There's a kind of wholesomeness and idealism about them that i love.
In Blue Cave - Hoodoo Gurus. If you've not afforded yourself the pleasure, do so at your leisure, for they are men of measure, the hoodoo gurus.... a fucking awesome aussie band. They are a kind of retro psychedelic 60s kind of 80's pop band, with plenty of humour and wit and anyway you just have to check them out to know what i'm rambling about.
absolutely love Full Moon, Dirty Hearts

Sales don't mean anything to me. The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, New York Dolls, Ramones, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Iggy Pop have all made multiple classic albums and have collectively sold the sum total of shit.
Selling 15 mil make it a success, not a classic...although in some cases of course they are classics.

I love that demo version of He's Back on the Life and Crimes box set...kinda like a disco version
-
he went to work for Obama...and that's true, as odd as it may sound
-
Think I madeit to season three. Then I stopped watching, and all of a sudden Kumar was on it.
And just as sudden, he was gone. I hate how his character went out.
they had to write his character off really quickly as he abruptly left the show...i liked the way they wrote him off...it certainly was unexpected and answers were never really given, which is always a plus
then it added to house's hauntings, which was a bonus

nice, a Coney Hatch shout

Really? I like Antisocial, Be All End All. In fact, I just noticed I could put more than 3 albums here, so in the end I would put Spreading The Disease in here as well.
Yeah...that's about all SOE has going for it.
Queen: Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, News of the World
If you count Adam and the Ants and Adam Ant together, Kings of the Wild Frontier, Prince Charming, Friend or Foe, Strip
David Bowie: Station to Station, Low, "Heroes", Lodger, Scary Monsters, Let's Dance
The Replacements: Let It Be, Tim, Pleased to Meet Me
you can easily add Sorry Ma Forgot To Take Out The Trash, Stink(if you consider it an album), Hootenanny
Among The Living - State Of Euphoria - Persistence Of Time - Sound Of White Noise (Anthrax)
Nah, SOE sucks. Easily the worst non-Bush album. My Anthrax sequence would be Fistful Of Metal / Spreading The Disease / Among The Living. Worship Music is my favorite Anthrax album though.
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Devil's Night Out / More Noise & Other Disturbances / Don't Know How To Party or A Jackknife To A Swan / Pin Points And Gin Joints / The Magic Of Youth. Another band where my favorite album (Let's Face It) is bookended by my 2 least favorites (Question The Answers and Pay Attention).
Alice Cooper - Love It To Death / Killer / School's Out / Billion Dollar Babies and Constrictor / Raise Your Fist And Yell / Trash / Hey Stoopid
Black Sabbath - Heaven And Hell / The Mob Rules / Born Again
Dio - Holy Diver / The Last In Line / Sacred Heart / Dream Evil
you could also throw in Welcome To My Nightmare/Alice Cooper Goes To Hell/Lace and Whiskey
I'm not a huge fan of Goes To Hell or Lace And Whiskey. They both have their moments for sure, but I don't consider them brilliant albums by any stretch.
But if you want to hypothetically use that run of early solo albums, you gotta add on From The Inside. That absolutely trounces almost every other solo album from Alice IMO.
Another one I forgot:
Bruce Dickinson - Accident Of Birth / The Chemical Wedding / Tyranny Of Souls
if you add From The Inside, keep going and add Flush The Fashion...one of his most underappreciated albums
and while you're at it, Hey Stoopid and Trash are among his worst albums so add DaDa before Constrictor
I like Trash and Hey Stoopid. The hair metal sound was good...for a couple albums at least
I do love the Kip Winger background vox and influence on Raise Your Fist And Yell
that's a pretty solid album
RYFAY is one of my favorites, I think it's his most under appreciated album by far. Too bad he practically pretends it doesn't exist
some really good songs on that album...Freedom, Gail, Roses on White Lace, Give the Radio Back(cheesy yes, but still good), Prince of Darkness
he doesn't even play Freedom live? that would lend itself to some good visuals

Mob Rules was really popular when it came out. We're not just talking about some replacement singer, it's fucking Ronnie James Dio!
yeah exactly.
sabbath was a dying band when ronnie came into the picture. the band lost its sound, had no real direction to go in. ronnie brought the band back and brought a new spin on the old school sabbath formula. gone was the jazzy experimental crap of technical ecstasy and never say die, in came in the heavy crunching riffs of iommi with a little more uptempo flash to it all.
damn, I love technical ecstasy and never say die

the devil you know crushes 13 and it isnt even close. man it sucks that ronnie passed away. dio/iommi/geezer were firing on all cylinders and were passed the issues that plagued them in the past, instead we got the most generic boring paint by the numbers album in 13.
if you think it's bad, listen to the 4 bonus tracks...talk about a shitty bonus
-
well, if you like them, I'd definitely recommend those 3 albums too.
Tim and Let It Be are my favs, btw
Cool as fuck album titles.
