i dont think she sang this song but the movie the rose was about her anyway this is a nice song.and done by Bette Midler
Bette Midler plays "Rose", an artist strikingly similar to Janis Joplin. The film follows Rose's career during her last tour. Her rock and roll lifestyle of Drugs, Sex, and Rock and Roll and constant touring lead her to an inevitable breakdown.
Originally intended as a flat-out biography of Janis Joplin's last days titled "Pearl" ( Janis' nickname and alter-ego ) the filmakers allegedly ran into privacy issues with the Joplin family which caused them to take a more "loosely based" approach of a "composite" character! Even Bette Midler herself had some ideas of her own that promised to provide a fictious portrayal! Since I had always found Janis Joplin's life both fascinating and tragic I had to write off seeing this movie in the theatres when it first came out in 1979.It wasn't until sitting through it on HBO that I could truly appreciate how utterly great Bette Midler's performance was!It certainly stayed close enough to the "truth" while adding some dynamic elements that a Janis biography portrayed by anyone else would have sorely lacked! Bette Midler is truely at her best! She pours out her heart and soul into this role and leaves nothing behind! Her rock concert scenes alone show her broad talent as a stage performer! Her scenes drunk & stoned give a rare glimpse into a lonely and crazy world of rock stars(like Janis Joplin was!) Her scene with her childhood country-music idol reminded me of a similar situation between Janis and Johnny Cash! Her former lesbian lover is reminiscent of Janis' one-time "biographer/lover" Peggy Caserta! The "homecoming" concert at the film's end reminded me of Janis' 10-year-highschool reunion which she attended only shortly before her death! All in All I regret not having seen (in the theatre) this "loosely based" and yet "thinly disguised" story of Janis! With Bette Midler at center stage it stands as both a glowing tribute to Janis AND Bette!

here is something i never knew about don dokken lending a helping hand/voice
Klaus Meine began experiencing throat problems. He required surgery on his vocal cords and there were doubts as to whether he would ever sing again. While Meine made a full recovery, the band began working on their next album, Blackout. Don Dokken was brought in to provide guide and backing vocals so that Meine could let his vocal chords completely heal. Meine eventually healed completely and was able to finish the album.

I think it is the most unappealing thing I could fathom right now.
Oh boy! Let's read a fake diary from a fake rock star from a fake glam metal band (err, sorry, grunge band; I mean, hard rock band; I mean, nu metal band; I mean, retro glam band). He does coke and heroin and stuff he's so cool. Oh man I wish I could be a rock star and live life with sex drugs and booze and have lots of tattoos and spike my hair all wild and shit because that's A ROCK STAR THING TO DO!!!110ONE
Motley Crue is the most image-driven band ever. They think they are true rock n' roll, and that's what they market themselves as. They're a complete product - more so than any other rock band I can think of; every little aspect of their band is completely cliched and stereotypical of a hard rock/sleaze band. They may have helped cater that into the mainstream, but look at how they jump on every new image that comes out. Nikki started out as a KISS rip-off and now he looks like he's trying to copy these retro-sleaze rockers like Hinder and Nickelback. Does he spend enough time on his hair or brag enough about how many drugs he's taken? What a rock star. He looks like a retired porn star. It's sickening.
Oh, and by the way? "A year in the life of a shattered rock star"? Sorry, Nikki; you aren't a rock star. You may have been one for a fleeting second in 1988, but you aren't relevant anymore, and no one knows who you are except for metal heads and Crue fans. Crue may still be able to attract crowds as sort of a nostalgia act (and a pretty sad one at that), but these people don't know who you are; they rely on name brand. A "rock star" has to be a star - the rock part is an adjective, not just part of one word - and you aren't a star. You aren't even really rock. A more appropriate title:
OUT OF MONEY, BUY MY BOOK AND/OR SOUNDTRACK; A FAKE YEAR IN THE LIFE OF A SAD, EXPIRED, DESPERATE WANNABE ROCKER WHO IS PAST HIS PRIME AND WILL SUCK CORPORATE COCK FOR THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR. BY NIKKI SIX.
