  1. The Needle & the Damage Done - Neil Young

Down in the tube Station at Midnight - the Jam (it's really, really, sad)

    When You're Gone - Cranberries

    Rose - Mott the Hoople

    Redemption Song - Bob Marley

Actually i want to include Bodies - Sex Pistols - if you listen it really is sad

Don't Do It, The Band, covered live by the Black Crowes

  2. People don't realize how badly Elvis scared the hell out of alot of folks back in the 50's...a greasy, ignorant hillbilly, with a voice like that, who dressed outrageously and dripped with overt sexuality. Groundbeaking. And it was 30 years ago last I checked B)

By many accounts that was his worst offence back then...a white guy singing like a "nigra".

i know i shouldn't say this but i find those yokels equal parts scary and hilairious. "this is obviously a way by which the good white youth of america can be dragged down to the level of the N*****" and "animalistic N***** music" animalistic?!?!?!?!?

And the kids weren't listening to them, they knew a good thing when they heard it!

Black, white or purple...didn't matter...Elvis lifted them out of their parents' Doris Day hell!

Yes and thank God for him, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis...the first pill poppin', groupie bangin', liquor swillin' Rock N Roll crazies.

  3. I know this is like the 3rd Elvis thread.

I'm a huge Elvis fan, but it been sometime since I listened to him. But now I've started again and I mean, OH MY GOD, he don't bad song. It's all amazing.

Hes voice, the way he sings, the feeling in hes ballads......

    He as just incredible.

    Can't belie he died only 25 years old! :( It's a tragedy

The King Of Rock N' Roll.

So what are you guys/girls fav songs from the King?

Mine are.... "Always On My Mind", "If I Can Dream", "In The Ghetto", "Don't Cry Daddy".

For the rockers... "Viva Las Vegas", "Trouble", Moody Blue".

I know it's many but...it's all so amazing!

  4. Let's see, it's been thin 'cause we've been working on our stuff and gigging alot, but so far...

Southern Culture On The Skids, 'cause we opened the show

Dex Romweber Duo on a day off in Austin during SXSW

Pat Travers, 'cause we opened for him

Shooter Jennings...fuckin' great btw, go see him.

    Chris Duarte Group

    Sonny Landreth

    John Mooney and Bluesiana...

and a couple Florida based acts, notably Soulphonics and Nervous Turkey, both are worth looking into.

    Good shit!

Yeah, after I looked at the list I kinda felt like an ungrateful fuck, I actually saw some really good shows this year. B)

  6. Johnnys Gonna Die - The Replacements

Unsatisfied by The Replacements, too. And Answering Machine. God, what a great album Let It Be is. Better than the Beatles' Let It Be, IMO.

:rofl-lol::rofl-lol::rofl-lol: Man I love the Replacements, but damn...

  7. I like that Page solo. Among my other favorites of his, are Fool In The Rain (take away the mega-cheesy octave effect and there's a great solo there), Achilles Last Stand, and Tea For One. Oh and the live solos he put on Your Time Is Gonna Come on the album with the Black Crowes, and Thank You on the No Quarter album with Robert Plant

Yep...I like Fool In The Rain quite alot as well, I don't even mind the octave effect.

  8. Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the end of the decade. 88 and 89 gave us Dogs D'Amour, Broken Homes, Badlands and a few other good bands after a decade almost entirely devoid of anything worth listening to.

 Sorry - but the 80s was devoid but you're listing Dogs D'Amour as a good band?

Listened to their 2 late 80's records? I have no idea what they sound like now, but there were some really good songs on those records, and I loved that sound. Oh and I forgot Hanoi Rocks, big influence on GNR, another anomaly of the 80's

  9. Yep, since the mid 70's...I love to find new stuff that moves me. Check out Papa Mali, The Black Angels, Rhoades D'Ablo and the Devil's Right Hand, Mojo Gurus, Nervous Turkey and Soulphonics...

  10. Behind Blue Eyes

this is a bad song by LB,but compared to the original its a masterpiece

May I suggest some advice, courtesy of Mark Twain? "It is better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

Thank you SO much...I was literally at a loss for words, you said it wonderfully.

  11. Most of his music sounds the same. Sorry have to be honest.

Most artists have a pretty recognizable style, have you heard MOST of his 50 year recording career to make that harsh a statement?

  12. I love it...Nobody's Fault But Mine, Royal Orleans, Achilles' Last Stand...and it was written and recorded in like three weeks...yes I said weeks

  13. My first Stones concert was in '78....Keith fresh out of rehab.

It was phenominal...the best concert I've ever seen.....ever.

    Mine too, New Orleans Superdome...awesome.

Mine was Orchard Park New York (Buffalo area basically)...Rich Stadium

April Wine,Journey and Atlanta Rhythm Section were also on the bill.

It was the 4th of July.

I got Van Halen and the Doobie Brothers...and Van Halen was very poorly received by most of the crowd, kinda funny looking back on it. The Stones were fucking BADASS though...saw again in Tampa in 89, and Philly in 94...they always deliver the goods live.

wow...I would have taken Van Halen and Doobies over Journey and Atlanta Rhythm Section any day!

Did the Stones do an encore at your '78 show? They didn't at Rich Stadium and it started to get ugly.

People started tearing apart the front of the stage.

To be honest with you I don't remember (see sig lol)...but I think they must've because I don't recall any sort of incident.

  15. Lol yeah man its cool, all I want now is Three Snakes and One Charm.

I agree with Doc, it's a little different than what came before, there's a lot more experimenting on this one than the ones before. But there's some real gems on it still. Check out Good Friday, Nebakanezer, Halfway To Everywhere and Girl From A Pawnshop.

Oh and the Dylan song is actually called Rainy Day Women #12 & 35

One Mirror Too Many is cool as fuck too. Great band.
