  1. A&W Tried and failed miserably over here, combined stores with KFC, just didn't work, don't go much on root beer myself, did give it all a go though!

But back on topic! surely someone knows more, which suburb/store is it likely to have been in?, Taco Time or A&W? did anyone tape anything of it?, or does anyone know an employee, who could grab hold of the instore security footage! What was sung?, Who else got involved etc...

  2. In the review from the Rockstar Weekly, of the Regina show, found here: http://www.rockstarweekly.com/content/view/1385/204/ a earlier, impromptu show is mention in this paragraph

"The between song banter was minimal at best, with Mr. Rose telling the crowd “good to be here tonight – I feel pretty good considering how much tequila I drank last night” Hey wait a minute, TEQUILA, MEXICO… I swear that was him! Axl later informed the crowd that this was his second show of the day, as earlier he did an impromptu performance at a local A&W. Although my sources say it was actually a Taco Time."

I think there might more to be known about this peformance, but can't find out anything else, yet! but surely someone knows more?....

  3. I'd like to hear the old Illusion tracks live again too, but there's a time and a place for everything, and this isn't it. As much as i hate to admit it!, I agree with jj here, and this is essentially the Chi Dem tour, and thats how it should be. If you want to hear the old tracks again, watch the old shows, simple.

The other question this review raises for me, what did this impromptu performance concists of?, and is there a/v from it?, at the very least, store security footage! come on anyone over there, tell me more....

  5. for some reason I wanna hear Axl sing janis joplin

You've always been gay. So no surprise there.

 did you just call me gay?

didn't realize we were still in middle school here

    That was gay too.

I wasn't going to bite, and give this fool the attention they want for some pathetic reason, but now, well, can someone just suspend or ban him, continual pointless contributions, however, I do find it amusing that i've been called gay by someone who started a MJ thread that no-one replied to!

but also, sweetness, you could have realised he was in middle school, not many of us put both our age, and our i.q at the end of our username like matt does....

edit: Back on topic, I think the irony of a old Courtney or Hole song would be quite interesting! Doll Parts, Malibu etc, not a whole song, but just a sample...

  6. Axl's jeans look very blue.

hah yeh i noticed that too, kool photo though ay

Great review, good to read stuff like this again, but speaking of the photo, I also had a quick look around, and spotted the photog has a site, and has pics of VR from a concert at the Brandt Centre in 07 here: http://www.waycoolstudios.com/IpscoPlace/VelvetRevolver/index.html and a pretty cool gallery here: http://www.waycoolstudios.com/gallery.html for anyone who's interested... (lots of modelling, bellydancers and music, the man has good great taste!)

  7. Don't post pm's, man. it's against the rules.

Fair enough too, thanks for the reminder!

However, surely I can mention that jj has bought it to my attention that "In the Asia 09 tour, at the end of If the World, Axl sang a bit of "Love Hangover" by Diana Ross"

This, at least answers the question of has, unless it's not the only one?...

  8. Just been thinking lately, and reading about the intro song of Leonard Cohen - Everybody Knows. I first heard this song years ago as a Concrete Blonde tune, and always assumed it was until I learnt more about Cohen. Now it's got me wondering... Has Axl ever sung any song originally performed by a women?.. I don't think so, well, not that I can think of atm anyway! So the second part of this question is: Should he/they? and what would you suggest? Janis Joplin?, Tina Turner?, Aretha?....

  9. and what will define when we can post these?.. Just admin changing his mind?, is there a timespan we are waiting to pass? An official statement from the band!?, We know other sites are/were considering allowing these now it's 2010. and as for checkmate, well, depends on it's origin I guess...

Just wanting to clear up any potential for confusion, and get something organised, let's not delay the "release" of the demo's for as long as the album was!...

  10. Gak was the improvised name for a band which featured James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich from Metallica; Axl Rose, Duff McKagan and Slash from Guns N' Roses; and Sebastian Bach from Skid Row. They played at a party held at Hollywood Palladium in 1990 for RIP Magazine, prior to Metallica and Guns N' Roses touring together in 1992 on the "Live N' Loud" Tour.

The band played the GN'R song "You're Crazy", Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls", Skid Row's "Piece of Me", Nazareth's 'Hair of the Dog' and two versions of Metallica's "Whiplash", with Bach singing the first and Hetfield singing the second. An impromptu Gak Reunion was held at Oracle Arena as Bach, Ulrich and Rose performed together on the same stage.

It was called "gak" because that was the nickname that Axl Rose used to put to Sebastian Bach, this means, gak instead of back. There is another version which says that Gak was the first name that came up to Axl after a long discussion.

Just spotted this one, not my sale, but just incase anyone wants it, that hasn't seen it, here it is! (I'm not buying, obviously!) JUST OVER AN HOUR TO GO! seems a bit pricey to me though..

If it's been mentioned before, or isn't authentic, well, my apologies in advance!...

  12. Here's some Hanson for you, the only sort you need!

    06040.jpg

    Harden the fuck up!

But, to be fair, it is your world, and well, each to their own I suppose, but Hanson!, wow! good luck...

    haha

You put that better than I could have.

Thanks! I would have suggested a smaller amount, but I think this case called for a truckload!

  14. The snake on the bottom one reminds me of my old Dr Feelgood T-shirt!, would look better without that, or the purple, imho. Top one is a cool pic, and would make for a great poster, but as t-shirts, in this era, they just don't do much for me...

  15. I know that there is a LP Bootlegs where the Sao Paolo 92's show is recordered..

Do you know something about that?

only brazil recording i know is the "Guns N Roses In Rio" vinyl bootleg. There was no GNR show in Brazil in 1992, 1991 they were on january 20th and 23rd here, Maracana Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The lp boot of this show has a large part of the 20th, but is sadly not perfect. There are songs cut and rants left out......

I have pix of front, fold out and back if wanted?

December 10th, 1992 - First show of two at Anhembi in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Played despite torrential downpour.

December 11th, 1992 - Second show in Sao Paulo was postponed 24 hours. The site and access to the venue were flooded. In a press statement Axl apologized: "We hope that everyone who was planning to come to the show tonight can make it tomorrow. As we proved, both here and in Bogota recently... none of us are afraid to get wet!" In this instance, the promoters and local authorities insisted that the conditions would be too risky for the fans.

December 13th, 1992 - Show at the Autodromo in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After it the band takes a month's break before the next leg of the tour.

I've lost my list of available audo/video or not, but it seems I may have nothing from these shows myself either...

  16. and just had the thought, we've got one great band missing the original lineup other than vocals, and, another great band missing the original vocalist! What sort of a combination do you think it would make, Axl singing all the classic SR tracks! do you think it would work well?...

And, who here has seen Skid Row with Johnny Solinger out front?, I've been rapidly catching up on his music in the last few weeks, and by my guess, should be a great show, but, surely other's have opinions on his work, and i'm curious!..
