  1. I never found confirmation of the plastic surgery. Did he really have one?

It's never been confirmed. I don't think he had surgery. I do think he had Botox and chemical peels before his comeback. He may have had very minor cosmetic work (and he got his teeth fixed back in the early '90s) but I don't think he had a full-on facelift or anything. I think that's why his face looked really odd in 2002 at the VMAs, but seemingly looked far more normal when he reappeared in 2006.

What's important to remember is that redheads can age kind of oddly. Nicole Kidman has been accused of plastic surgery, and maybe she had some, but she also is a redhead and her complexion completely changed as she aged. If you look at Axl during that NBA interview, you can see that his eyebrows are gone, his hair looks really different, etc. Redheads often lose their eyebrows and their hair as they age. I think if you look at recent pics it appears he dyes his beard and perhaps even his eyebrows. Some of what people credit as so-called "plastic surgery" may have just been his natural aging.

I confess that I too have spent way too many minutes of my life thinking about Axl's looks but, don't you think it's fucking weird? Like, why the fuck do we/did we all spend so much time on the subject? Is it just because Axl looked so alien when he returned? Are we all just slightly crazy? I don't even know anymore lol

  2. Just knowing that GNR is basically a Vegas act now is enough to make a grown man cry.

I think before long Axl will be a permanent fixture there doing a never ending run of a show called "Axl Rose sings Guns N' Roses".

I know what I said had a tone of humor to it but I'm being serious here. I was around to actually purchase and watch GNR live in Paris on PPV back in 1992. To think that the same band would end up, all these years later, playing Vegas is just... it's sad.

  3. But let's ask a fair question (even if it's been asked before): is it justifiable to expect UYI rasp, or even 2010 rasp, from a mid-50s singer?

Part of me says yes since he has demonstrated it from time to time, even in 2014. Then again, perhaps it's just not feasible a few years on. There are inherent health risks to singing like that. It can build up nodes on your vocal chords, which arguably can increases one's chances of certain forms of cancer.

Steven Tyler was killing it at Axl's age and that dude has more rasp than just about anyone in music... ever.

  4. Probably not. I have a theory that Beta has him stoned on tranquilizers all the time, and that is why his creativity has left him, and that is why he always looks stoned in fan pictures. He is like a puppet which Team Brazil wheel out every night to make money.

Canter has alluded to this many times. I actually believe that too.

Can you expand this a bit more, please ?

    This.

If you're gonna put those kind of words in someone else's mouth, you might want to include a link at least

I read it in this very forum. Good god, no need to get all accusatory. It was in a thread where someone asked him about a reunion between Slash and Axl and he said he didn't want to name names, but he thinks he knows who's to blame and that Axl is likely being manipulated. Who the fuck else could that be? Madonna?

Calm down. I wasn't accusing you of anything, I was just saying that if you're going to make claims like that you have to assume people are going to want a link to proof.

I wasn't angry but when I log on, see like 4 replies and they're all "link or it didn't happen" it's like, come on. I've been here for years. I wouldn't just make something up. Plus, I said ALLUDED as in, hinted at. He never said Beta was manipulating him... but he certainly alluded to it. He has said many times before that Axl didn't even know Slash showed up at his house, or Vegas because Beta didn't want that to happen. That she hides shit from him etc. So when he said he thinks Axl is being controlled and there are powers that be around him, pulling a vail over his eyes and that he wouldn't name names... I took that as Beta because who else could it be? There is really only one person Axl listens to these days and that's her. When you connect that with all Marc has said about her running his life, it's pretty clear imo.

  6. Does anyone else find the new look slash has gone for to be slightly odd? In recent photos and gigs he seems to have ditched the top hat in favor of a beanie. It just really does not suit him in my mind

Receding hairline. He and Axl both obviously can't deal with it so we get a bunch of silly hats and stocking caps instead.

  7. So we all get to hear the b-sides to an album where the a-side fell off the face of the earth and was never heard of again.

    Awesome.

Not quite. Not if you believe what Axl has said about CD ll, that it's the second half of Chinese. Or what Josh Freese said about the AAA songs he wrote when he was in Guns that remain unreleased, or what Robin has said about how some of his favorite guitar moments in Guns are not even on Chinese.

Or what Tom Zutaut said about Atlas Shrugged, claiming it was "single material" or something like that, or what Bach and Brain said about The General.

Axl also said it's about which songs work together as a cohesive unit. CD ll could be similar in quality to Chinese.

Being a musician and song writer, here is what I believe. I don't believe you spend over a decade putting together an album that had the expectations that CD had, and NOT use the very best material you have. You just don't.

    It doesn't make any sense.

  8. I suppose many people no longer buy hard copies of anything. I far as I know my daughter and friends, all in their twenties, just plug their phones/ipods I pods to everything.

Up until this year I still bought the odd CD for the car but then I got a new car which hooks up to my devices so having a load of CDs rattling around the car seems pointless.

Unless you plan on ripping WAV files off those babies and plugging THAT into something, there is still a very, VERY good point in using real CD's. A CD has a bitrate of over 1,400 kbits. Spotify, even if you pay for it, is only 320. iTunes is even worse at 256.

The fact is, these companies didn't think ahead when they started this streaming bullshit and only tried to make their stuff sound good via earbuds. If you try to play it through the air via speakers, it sounds like cats fucking... it's horrible.

I stream music from spotify to a Bluetooth speaker and it sounds amazing. Hell even listening to albums on YouTube sounds great

You obviously don't have much of a discerning ear. lol. For me, Spotify is the music equivalent of an overweight, 43 year old prostitute where as a real CD is like a 20 year old Victoria's Secret super model.

Sure, they both have vaginas (music) but one is just, so much better.

  10. Is this true, that he used to be pro-Slash before being put on the payroll. This is the tenure of that cartoon, which I cannot seem to locate.

/jarmo and team Brazil reported the YouTube and got it taken down :violin:

Here today gone to tool was so funny

Too bad it didn't work and they're back online. Fucking control freaks.

  11. From a mainstream chronology using myself as an example. I had Hysteria, then AFD kind of added danger and excitement to rock again. Then Nirvana was like the next step. The natural progression towards rawer and louder rock and then having some more political angle. GNR was the grenade that went off in room. Alt rock was the sas team that kicked the door in and secured the area. I'm not sure how much the media kind of guided or let this happen. They seemed to use alt rock to discount GNR.

Well, GNR had a modern classic rock feel and it's look was old too. I don't think the media played them that way it just sort of happened naturally. I mean, think about it. Listen to Pearl Jam's Jeremy and then listen to November Rain. It's so night and day.
