I was listening to a "Commentary" album from Soundgarden's King Animal (2012) on Spotify, where the band comments on the process of each track and thought it'd be cool for Axl to comment on the history of all new releases (CD tracks + the new four singles). From his point of view: what were the ideas initially, how was the mixing process, whose band members worked on the final version with him, etc.
I know there's bad blood between him and the forum, but could anyone at least try to make a channel for that? Maybe a document with questions selected from users here to send it to him? I mean a conversation with no mentions of leaks, nothing about drama, only about his released work. The last time we heard detailed comments was on the 2008 chat, it's been too long, and understanding a bit better without getting into unnecessary personal stuff would be cool. We've been hearing things from other people (Brain, Tommy, Beltrami, etc.) sporadically in these last few years but not from the main person involved, maybe he's more comfortable talking with the new wave of releases...

It's a great song but with shitty production and mix. It's unbelievable how low-effort this sounds.
-
I can't believe these are final versions. I know HS and Absurd were algo rough in terms of mixing, but this is terrible. Good songs with a clear lacking in production.

Don't know if this has been posted yet but Robin Finck says that it's someone called Keith Scott on the demo for the General and he had no input on it and he also wasn't on anything on the Locker leaks as Axl would mostly use session Guitarists for the songs
What?

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed, but how does Richard manage to make the "sitar sounds" with his guitar? I remember him being interviewed and mentioning some equipment.

Frank's drumming on this song needs to be improved. I miss Brain so much in the band.

The fan asking before they play it hahaha. Love it.

As a huge Faith No More fan, I can see the influence and agree with the Stripsearch similarity, but some of the vocals' shenanigans I hear remind me of Ween.
Axl was really experimenting with vocal takes throughout all Village material. I love it, but I can understand casual fans not embracing it.

Both incredible, good songs, up with the best ones from Village Sessions. I'm very surprised Axl has this buried somewhere and isn't doing anything with it, such a waste.

YT version is miles ahead the radio version and I can't pinpoint exactly why. Liked it, piano is sweet and an improvement from the demo.
-
An improvement from the demo as a whole, but the sloppy work with the solos transitioning is astonishingly bad

It's not half as bad as people are making it out to be. Great gesture from him.

I can't seem to find any Better video from this gig. What happened?

This topics and articles that pop up saying axl or anyone for that matter have anything more than a 4 octave range are stupid. Nobody can sing anywhere near 5 or 6 octaves it’s physically impossible.
Axl can hit (maybe) a low eb below middle c (think demon “long time” in TWAT And the highest I’ve heard him is an a high e ... so the 3rd e above middle c.
when people start throwing around this or that person have a 7 octave range. That’s like being able to sing the entire piano range. Impossible period

I appreciate the education of facts on Mike Patton. However, Axl is vastly more talented than Mike Patton.
Why?

Mr. Bungle released a re-recording of their 1986 high school thrash metal demo with Scott Ian and Dave Lombardo. Weird stuff, unexceptional Bungle.

BBF was a perfect replacement for Bucket, can't blame Axl for wanting three guitars, that was his vision at the time. Wonder if that's why BBF felt so mistreated when he joined.

The other day I was searching for Finck's one-off with the band in 2012 and it looks like it's gone. Really annoying.

Has anyone else been following Ron's "Jam along" social media thing to this song? Basically anyone's free to record their own version of the solo and share it, it's been really interesting hearing so many different takes on it on instruments ranging from fretless guitars to ukuleles. I think this one has been one of my favourites so far.
Loved this acoustic one:

Not sure if any of this is welcomed in the main discussion, apologies in advance. Feeling a bit depressed in my lonely quarentine and it's a good exercise to share something about a band you follow.
I've been in and out of this place since 2007, rarely posting anything, but following closely every little thing there was to know about NuGn'R. Only went to two shows, one in 2010 (Sao Paulo) and the other in 2011 (Rock In Rio) and the lack of new music pretty much killed the desire to see this band on a live setting ever again. Since my passion relied on the novelties this band could bring - never cared for a reunion at all - things were pretty stale for me...until these recent CD Leaks. A friend of mine who also follows this band found a way to hear some of these songs and I fell in love, at first, with 'D Tune', later with 'Perhaps', 'State of Grace', 'Atlas' and a whole other bunch. Some of these songs cheered up my trips to Curitiba, where my girlfriend is currently studying to attain a medical degree (last year I was finishing my engineering graduation in one city and working in another, both cities in Sao Paulo state, search in Maps for how far we were apart).
During one particular trip, I talked to my grandmother over the phone - also my mom, given that she raised me - with 'D Tune' in the background. It was a really strange conversation, because I couldn't tell her I was making these trips. Given the distance, it would only raise concerns about my safety and she wouldn't rest easy, so it was best to lie and make calls with songs in the background cancelling unusual noises of my girl's place. So, long story short: at this particular time, I ran into trouble with my car a few hours before returning to Sao Paulo. A flat tire, followed by three broken wheel nuts (not really my fault, later found it was poor material and a lazy insertion with pneumatic wrench), in a sunday, where not a single mechanic I called was willing to fix it. My only option was to tow the car back all the way through my insurance company and find a bus or take a ride through carpooling apps. Ended it up taking a ride and the car was indeed towed. Anyway, the whole unpleasantness was also dealt in better spirits with help of some of these songs. Subsequent trips were made with me getting the willies everytime some of these songs showed while I was still in the middle of the road
In december, due to a series of strokes - followed by sepsis - my mom passed away. And there I was, three days before she passed, going alone in the road, past midnight, after getting that one call you wouldn't want to get, not knowing if I could get into her city in time (not Curitiba, but same state), again accompanied by some of these songs. It is a whole period of my life that now, specially when I'm driving, come back as vivid as it can when any of these songs show up. The outro of 'D Tune' is beautifully constructed in a way that those piano notes rebuild, in my head, every significant event of my life who took place in Q3/Q4 2019, and it will always bring back memories of my mom, my trips and that particular call. A song which most people don't even know, who came to our knowledge by unfortunate means, obviously not intended as a final product by the creator, having this much impact on someone's life. It's...eerie. Not sure if someone's been affected in a similar way, would like to hear if yes.

It's sort of funny that Mr. Bungle is my favorite band and I couldn't recognize most of these songs. Basically a metal show with Ian and Lombardo with Bungle's brand.
SETLIST:
Won't You Be My Neighbor (Fred Rogers cover) (with thrash metal stabs at end)
Anarchy Up Your Anus
Spreading the Thighs of Death
Glutton
Malfunction
Raping Your Mind
Sit There
Bungle Grind
(Unknown) (“Meth” on setlist)
Evil Satan (w/ Slayer’s Hell Awaits intro)
Summer Breeze (Seals & Crofts cover)
Eracist
Cold War (Siege cover)
Hypocrites (with “La Cucaracha” tease)
Speak English or Die (Stormtroopers of Death cover) (Lyrics changed to “speak Spanish or die”)
World Up My Ass (Circle Jerks cover)
Sudden Death (w/ Faith No More’s The Real Thing intro)
Encore:
Fuck the USA (The Exploited cover)

All of these instrumentals sound very...2000's (Korn, Limp Bizkit, etc.). They are not timeless in my opinion. I know a lot of you like these, and that's fine, but I think they're very copy catish. Sounds like they were just copying the trends of the time: industrial meets rap-rock.
I'll listen to just about anything with Axl's vocals on it, but this stuff isn't really my cup of tea. It actually is making me appreciate ChiDem so much more, and I already was a big fan of that album.
I know what you mean. It makes me think how NuGn'R would be perceived if these were indeed released at the time.

It's like Gn'R playing Soundgarden or Melvins. Vocals aside, I really like it.

Not sure if it's been discussed somewhere around here but take a look at this:
He seems...in total control of his voice. It's so good. Wonder what happened because 2006 or 2009 were not in this level.
