  1. I don't quite understand what both player's degree of fret-wanking mastery really has to do with Guns's music...

The stuff that's on CD can be pretty much replicated live. I don't know about some of you guys but I am not the kind of guy that takes notes during a gig...

  2. Chinese Democracy is the most unreviewable album ever. I mean, what are you going to say about an album that took 17 years to make? It's not a masterpiece nor is it shit. It's something of its own, any too strong of a bias on is inherently cheap.

Ironically the best bits of the album is simple songwriting not the overblown megalomaniac 100-guitar-tracks-plus-synthies production. But on a whole it is very souless because it has been fiddled about with and manipulated to death.

Rock n' Roll is about impulsiveness, so yeah, the next album could leave more of an impression ( to avoid the word 'impact') - if it manages to capture the band in a certain moment.

  3. Ok, I watched like 4 minutes of the video to the point that my eyes strained. Not trying to be a obsessive fan or anything, but it there any point when you can actually notice Axl.

Me too, I can't see Axl in the video at all.

This is obviously some sort of joke by the poster. The video is early Oasis, not the 2002 incarnation. But thanks for posting the video anyway. Just reminded how fucking great Oasis were back in the day.

  4. I can't quite get my head around Azoff trying to scheme Axl into a reunion. Given the reputation Axl has, this would have been quite an audacious endeavour to start with. Azoff boycotting CD in order to force Axl into a reunion? Maybe I'm naive but that sounds a bit too simple/vague as far as I'm concerned.

  5. That's funny, because anything Cypress Hill has released since 2001, I would not consider to be on par with their earlier stuff. Cypress Hill's new shit is so lame now, and I was a big fan of them about 12 years ago. They used to be a cool stoner rap group, but now they try to be mainstream. They have no integrity, and I'm sure they are just going after Axl to get some much needed attention and try to remain in the spotlight. What a gimmick.

You know what else isn't Guns N Roses? That version of Paradise City that Sen Dogg did with Slash and Fergie :rofl-lol:

What else is funny is anything GUNS N ROSES or whatever you call this band has released since 1994, is def. not on par with their earlier stuff. ALso in 2010 you do not go after AXL ROSE to get attention and be in the spot light. He is pretty irrelevant these days. Cyprus Hill is actually more popular with the general public than Axl rose is. Hate to break it to you

I wouldn't want to embark on this whole 'relevant' discussion, cause it's fucking useless. But I agree that some people here dramatically overestimate the media's or most people's interest in Axl & Co. "much needed attention and try to remain in the spotlight". . What spotlight anyway?

  6. The Internet is an ugly place. This forum is proof. All these cowards that crawl out of the woodwork to insult a former mod... You're excellent Nazi lynchmob material. Axl: Take your secret gigs and shove'em up your arse. I'm outta here.

  7. Great performance! I actually watched it again a few days ago.

Can anyone recommend other songs (or youtube videos) where Prince showcases his guitar skills? I'd like to hear more.

Yeah, look for his Super Bowl prformance a couple of years back. Prince covered the Foo Fighters 'Best of You' and made it sound like a Hendrix song. A LOT better than the original. Even Dave Grohl had to admit that...

  8. FYI, by him saying "that's not Axl" that doesn't mean the account is fake. We all know it's in some way related to GNR because of the press release. He probably just means it's the record company or management running Axl's "official" Twitter, which most of us suspected anyway.

Yup... On second thouhgt, why would Bach comment on this fact? He's kind of Axl-dependent, isn't he?

  9. I don't think a reunion would be as big as some people like to think.

It would get publicity but I can't see them selling out stadiums like they used to all around the world.

You're probably right but it would still be BIG for the fans (at least the majority), if the real deal was back... Now... no further comment.

  10. New decade, how bout some new bands?

What was wrong with the last one? There were plenty great bands.

Never said there weren't. Just hoping we get some fresh faces. Most of the bands mentioned in this thread are old i.e. STP, Rolling Stones, Slash, Guns N' Roses, etc.

I'd be jazzed if some brand new acts came along that kicked ass.

I loved Radiohead in the 00s, but not too excited to hear new stuff from them, would rather move forward.

See what you mean now, I'm looking forward to some new talent as well. Hopefully some sort of movement or something, like britpop in the 90s, madchester in the late 80s, punk... I think music needs something like that right now.

I'm craving for that. I'm sick of all these conformist Indie bands (eventhough some made a good record at some point). I really want something a little bit more offensive this time around... RnR needs to yell FUCK YOU again without being cheap...

  11. The current band is a COVER BAND covering the chinese demoracy songs and the AFD era songs.

That is NOT a band, four people that are on 80% of the album are GONE.

The problem with you and your cronies is you would much rather take less talented musicans just because they look normal, over a band that looks interesting and has way more talent.

That is called a poser because you care more about the image of gnr than you do the talent.

That's a bit of a broken record with GnR isn't it? And the cock-rock argument doesn't really count: GnR have always been 'accused' of this. And sorry to offend your musical sensibilty but yes, I really don't care how hoe good a shredder Buckethead or how much of an industrial genius Robin Finck was...what you call 'interesting' is a euphemism for me. And never underestimate the image of a rockband...it's a thousand times more important than being a pure genious at your instrument (cf. The Beatles ca. 1962).

  12. Fucking hell, I hate that sports-guitarist mentality. They (all 3 'new' guitarists) may not play, or 'fuck up' as you put it, all of the solos Slash, Buckethead or any of the other 100 guitarists that were in GnR played, but honestly, who gives a fuck anymore? As an advocate of the AFD/ UYI line-up (which is untouchable imo) I still have to say that the current line-up is doing pretty well. At least they kind of feel like a real band and not like a bunch of fucking oddballs (cf: VMA 2002).

This bitchy "oh, he fucks up that bit"-attitude by self-proclaimed guitar-experts is getting really old...
