  1. Yeah it's a pretty comprehensive rig - literally millions on tonal options. What always gets me about "famous" rigs like these is your running a TCE G major 2 rack processor yet you have a bunch of delay and mod stomp boxes and other bits and pieces that theoretically the G major should be able to do a million times better than any of those stomps. I guess that is the question though - what is "better" = no such thing. That's the cool thing about being a pro and having a rig like this I guess - you find a pedal that makes a particular sound you like and even though you probably/may only use it for like one note you have the money and space to fit it into your rig...

The two chorus thing I guess could be explained in a number of ways. I like chorus and I could do with two really as I like like different settings on clean and distorted tones. It's just like what I've been talking about really - it's not really practical/economical for me to be running two units just for this reason!

My dream chorus pedal I guess would just be mod of the one I have - the Retro-Sonic:

    613808554201X.jpg

I don't really like/use the vibrato sound. So if I could exchange that section of this pedal with the same two controls that control the chrous section and effectively have a dual channel chorus pedal I would be in heaven :xmasssanta:

  2. I'm not talking about the old band, we all heard those stories a hundred times... I'm talking about NuGuns. Other than Tommy and Dizzy, no-one from any incarnation of NuGuns has stood the distance. Buckethead left, Finck was fired/left, Brain left, Josh Freese came and went... the list goes on.

Hahaha what a cupcake thread. The list doesn't really go on does it??? That's it!! You have mentioned everyone that left except Huge. And we all know he doesn't really count in such a debate. The lead guitar role is the only real unstable one in the history of post 1996 GNR.

  3. I can't believe I won't be able to post my complete pedalboard here... aw, that sucks.

The way it seems to be going it looks like you will :rofl-lol: If the whole thing does magically vanish anytime soon though yes I agree - been looking forward to seeing yours since that initial post...

  4. Wtf those picks are crazy!! 11mm?! People have looked at me funny because I use 2mm picks!! :rofl-lol:

You can see my amp and pedalboard above. Here's a shot of my guitar (with amp) from band practice:

    GuitarAmp.jpg

Guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Std 2003 with a variety of small mods.

    This is my old board:

    03.jpg

    04.jpg

The current one kind of backwardly evolved (if you get what I mean?!) into what it is now!

I own a few other pedals not pictured (DT Whammy and some others) and a good acoustic (a Taylor 914CE).

I use JD Big Stubby nylon 2mm picks for electric and either JD Big Stubby standard 1mm picks or JD USA nylon 1mm picks for acoustic.

I use Rotosound pure/100% nickel strings (11s) for electric and I'm still experimenting with acoustic - got DR Handmade Sunbeam 12s on just now - going to try 11s next.

For leads I use cleartone yellow tab leads for everything - even patch cables (I do have a big box full off George L connectors, accesories and lead too but don't use any of it). The Cleartone stuff is great and great prices. Put together in UK using Van Damme cable and Neutrik connectors.

I'm GASin now for a small pedalboard for the acoustic. I'm thinking a Pedaltrain nano with a tuner (prob TC polytune), a delay (prob TC flashback) and a looper (the new Boss RC-3) and maybe a chorus if I can fit it on (MXR are just bringing out a new analog chorus pedal - looks pretty cool). I'll use the George L's for this board and the Diago powerstation to power it all.

    Think that's everything hahaha!!!!

Chew - how you liking the Jerry wah?????? I didn't really like mine that much. It's such a cool looking pedal. It's most likely got some great sounds too - just didn't work great in my rig.

  5. Tommy Stinson on his Twitter now:

"Don't know when the next Rock In Rio is or where it will be but it sounds like fun to me. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like the deal is done for Guns N´ Roses playing Rio de Janeiro this year

    :rofl-lol:

  6. Haha I got this today too and was thinking WTF???!!?!!

I'm sure I got it first time round though and once before randomly - long after CD release and long after I initially signed up... Strange.

  7. Just picked up the Red Hand cover at a used record store in LA today...for $5! Totally shocked to see it. The new artwork is both cool and weird. There's an alien rape painting for Shackler's Revenge. Still like the bike cover and the pics of the band in the original release...but it's cool to have the correct lyrics and a few additional liner notes from Axl.

What's interesting is that the back says Copyright 2008-2009

    Holy shit wtf!

I read that just as you posted it and thought you were just bullshitting so never bothered replying.

How can this be? It can't be some elaborate fake. Perhaps a release from another country other than US/UK??? Surely not - still would have seen it on here at some point.

  8. I play in a covers band so flexibility is important. I play through a JCM900 which people often whinge about, but I think it sounds great and get a lot of compliments on my sound. Looking to get a JVM410H soon though. Tried one out and fell in love!

That's the amp I've got. It's great. Very flexible what with channels/modes and what I think is really great - 2 separate master volumes. In fact you can set it to have 3 separate volumes I believe using the effects loop.

To the dude with the JVM - can you give me the dimensions for the foot switch? Sorry man, I've looked everywhere online and can not find a single fucking site with the size of the footswitch. I just want to know if it will fit on my Pedaltrain Jr.

As soon as I get the chance I'll measure it and post it here.

  9. the shackler's solo is nice, but i'd be willing to wager that if there were a bucket solo for the song it would not only compliment the song more, it'd be more pleasant to listen to.

There is and you couldn't be more wrong... Someone will upload it for you - I don't have it anymore.

I love Buckets contributions to CD. From all his work it is very clear he can do both the crazy/pyro shredder type playing and the soulful/feel-driven playing insanely well. What he put on Shacklers was definitely the former and even considering the type of song it is it's fucking awful. Bleep, bleep bleep...

  10. How can anyone in this day and age think that that Stones video features good guitar playing?! Come on! It sounds shyte! I just don't get why people like this stuff. The Richards part sounds like a beginner child playing at their worst. There is nothing smooth about the tone or phrasing. Terrible vibrato, no technique - nothing. Sounds like a supermarket guitar being played through a battery powered amp. I personally don't enjoy listening to "old" bands in general (I'm talking Beatles, Stones, Early Floyd, Who, even Hendrix, Led Zep, Sabbath and early Aerosmith etc) but I've always understood and respected the influence these guys had on the bands and guitarists that I love and understood that without them I wouldn't have what I do. But I never have and never will understand what Richards is about. I bet if when the Stones came out he was a fat, bald, speccy T-totaler he would have got nowhere.

Anyway on topic - have you seen GNR live recently?! It didn't sound bad so who gives a shit! This thread just sounds like another round-a-bout way of moaning that the lineup isn't Slash and Izzy or Slash and Gilby...

I don't think GNR has ever had an overall bad live sound - just different from era to era/lineup to lineup. As far as guitars go - it's generally all good from whatever period.

What about the Mick Taylor part of the solo?

Again not particularly my cup of tea but it is infinitely better than the first part - more solid playing, much better tone and overall control of sound and technique. Kinda reminds me of Clapton. Like I say I don't really know much/enjoy the Stones - I just know I don't rate Richards in any way from what I've heard and don't even get me started on Ron Wood. I think he is the worst pro/famous player I've ever seen. Fuck knows how he got to where he is today. Sounds like they should have hung on to Mick Taylor!

  11. If I hear the words "best guitar solo" - two always come straight to mind - both from the same player ----

This is the best guitar solo I've ever heard:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5t_b9xOY-I

Well thats the live version - the studio version is breathtaking. Everything about it is just astonishingly good. I'm not even a massive fan of DT but Petrucci is unbelievable. Many people write him off as "just a speed shredder with no feeling". Silly bastards.

    And:

Fucking mind blowing tone, ability, construction, phrasing, time, feeling - has it all.

    Others that come to mind:

Various Slash (+ other GNR too)

    Various David Gilmour

Gun - Alex Dickson - Watching The World Go By

AiC - Jerry Cantrell - Love, Hate, Love

Bon Jovi - Dry County (I am not a Bon Jovi fan whatsoever but the guitar solos in this are amazing)

Alter Bridge - Blackbird (both Myles Kennedy and Tremonti) and Brand New Start (Mark Tremonti)

    Various Zakk Wylde

    Various Gary Moore

There's hundreds really but these come into my head first.

  13. Looks nice. I've managed to get pedals 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 (Just ordered this one, I'm waiting for its arrival) from my list. I'll post some photos from the current setup later.

I still need a power supply for them... a MXR MC 402 and a T-Rex Fuel Tank Chamelleon should do the trick.

Well, thanks for sharing! Best of luck, to you and your band!

You mean the 403? The 402 is a boost pedal I'm sure??.... Unless you can power others off it like some Boss pedals?

The 403 looks like a beastly power supply! I would have got it but it was too big/overkill for this board. I considered the T-Rex Jr but went with the PP2+ because of isolated outputs. I think the chameleon has isolated outputs too so good choice there.
