  1. It's sad, really, how a lot of diehard Guns N' Roses fans aren't familiar with Axl's work post-classic lineup.

But it was nice that at the show at House of Blues Chicago I heard a lot of people raving about new band members. There were a lot of DJ Ashba fans (girls) even though I personally think he's a caricature of Slash.

One guy who didn't know DJ asked, "Is he better than Slash?" and the chick answered, "Hell yeah! At least I think he is."

And the crowd was on fire for "Better." It got the best reaction from the CD songs.

But all in all, the real electricity came with the classic oldies. And that's the thing, when I'm at a show, I feed off crowd energy and I'm sure the band feeds off crowd energy. So you wanna play the stuff that you know is gonna connect with them. Everyone was pumped through Chinese Democracy but when Axl asked us if we know where we are, I've never had a more glorious concert moment. We were all jumping up and down and bumping and grinding into each other. Man. That show was sick. Sorry ... still buzzing.

Edit: A note on that girl who loved DJ. I had to turn around and chime in and say, "Fuck no he's not better than Slash." I hated to have to be THAT guy and didn't wanna perpetuate the whole old vs new stuff, but I couldn't let some chick tell me DJ is better than Slash. lol

I was at the Chicago show too. It was sick. Loved every minute of it. I like DJ, but I have to agree with you, he's not better than Slash. Better looking than Slash, yes.

The entire thing was beyond great. Where were you seated/standing at the show? I was right-center to the stage, which is usually DJ's spot so it maybe explains why all the DJ fans crowded around there. haha

I want a repeat! Luckily I get to see them again Thursday in Atlanta. :D I was on the left side of the stage, where there weren't a lot of DJ fans (girls). haha

  3. I'm one the big Axl Rose fans that can't wait for the day to hear new music. I eagerly await a time (if it ever happens) when Axl will drop a single or announce a record or whatever. And I've always wanted to hear new music live ... until of course I'm at the show.

Honestly, all the setlist complaints, or the majority of them, seem to come from people who aren't actually in attendance. And I admit I've watched the setlists threads here as well for some shows hoping to see an oldie return or a new song played.

But both Guns shows I attended this and last year, I was ecstatic for every song they played even if all sans a couple were fully expected. I WANT to hear the classics. I'm sorry, but nothing gets the crowd to lose their fucking shit like "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Nightrain" and more. It'd be a crime not to play those songs every goddamn time.

I agree. They have to play for the majority at the shows. Most people don't want to hear songs they've never heard before. I think most people don't even know Chinese Democracy.

    You're right about that.

In 2010 there were people acting like they were the biggest Guns fans, and they glued themselves to the front fence. During every single song from CD they were looking at each other: WTF????

It's probably the same people that show up to the show and are upset that Slash isn't there.

  5. Dear Person, will you be a true-hearted, diehard fan of Guns N' Roses for eternity no matter what would happen? Will you be a fan through good and bad, through wealthy and poor times? Will you support and defend Guns N' Roses in any situation and from all kinds of haters/antifans? Will you stand by them and their music in happiness, in sadness, in health, in sickness, in heaven and in a really deep shit? Will you always have a faith and trust in Guns N' Roses? Till death and even after it if that will be possible?

I like GN'R, but I'm not marrying the slut.

  6. In Chicago, there were 60 Gold VIP's. By the time they split the line at about 6 pm, there was already about 15 or so...

Is the VIP worth it? I'm debating what to do for the Atlanta show.

Could go either way. They JUST announced the show, so you can hope for suppressed sales there. However, there haven't been other Up Close shows that close to ATL, so demand will probably be high. It's a split: you'll get a $250 experience down on the rail, question's just can you get the rail without the VIP which you won't know until that day.

I have a feeling it's going to sell out pretty quickly. Might have to suck it up and spend the $250 just for peace of mind!

  7. Some Gold VIP packages opened up. I decided to upgrade from silver the 15 minutes just look to important after I thought about it. Has anyone received their tickets yet?

Have not received my ticket yet, and doesnt even look like it has been shipped yet?????

I just received an email that the tickets I ordered from Live Nation have shipped. I don't know if the ones from the GN'R website are from them too or not.

  8. Well I missed out on Chicago today! At one point I mistakenly selected 2 tickets and ended up with the chance to buy but 2 was out of my price range and all I needed was one. Will there actually be tickets for the general public sale tomorrow? I guess what Im asking is, they don't sale all the tickets for a show during the presale do they?

I think they only release a limited number for pre-sale. You should be able to get tix tomorrow. I would try to get them as soon as they go on sale though.

  9. But I opened it literally just when it popped up. I just don't get it. I mean, it couldn't sell out in like 5-10 seconds, could it?

If there are a bunch of ticket brokers buying them. You can get tickets on StubHub for $120 each right now. Those are the cheapest anyways.

Check out the Platinum Seating - there are still tix available.

  10. Chicago, Silver Spring and Atlantic City presale is Wednesday, February 1 at 10:00am EST, with public on-sale Friday, February 3. Tickets and VIP packages for all six dates will be available at gunsnroses.com.

I dont get it, but atlantic city and silver spring is 10eastern now, unless chicago is gonna be at 10

The presale code for Chicago is electronic - according to Live Nation. It just makes me nervouse because the New York shows sold out in no time yesterday in pre-sale.

NY sold out? I went onthere and did a mock purchase just to see if my account was working and it put 2 VIP tickets in my cart.

I didn't make it clear - the NY show that went on pre-sale at 5 pm yesterday through Ticketmaster.

Thank you. Sorry for the stupid question, but does that mean that I should be able to just try to hit up livenation.com tomorrow morning with that password? And do I have to be using a Citi card too?

No you don't have to use Citi Card. They are supposed to go on sale tomorroaw at 10 am central time.

Ok cool. I'm gonna stick around til 11est today, if nothing happens, I'll try to use that password for a regular ticket tomorrow. Thanks again for everyone's help. It's cool to see GN'R fans helping other GN'R fans.

Anything to not let all the damn brokers get tickets first and then sell them for twice the price on StubHub!
