Real cute, there is more than enough information circulating about now,that leaves no doubt that the twitter was fake and the tour is on,all systems go,any reporter worth his pay could peruse enough to get at the truth at this point.

Far be it for me to defend the media, but honestly...what the hell is the media supposed to do here? Axl doesn't do interviews and his Twitter account is the closest he's come to interacting with the media in years. You guys say that the media sucks, this is why Axl hates the media, etc. but what else are they supposed to do? It's not like they can actually get in touch with Axl or GNR to confirm the story the way they can with frontmen from other bands if they posted something like this.

Axl Rose is like a wealthy alcoholic. He's hit rock bottom numerous times, but due to his money and the sycophantic hangers-on who surround him, he's been allowed to get away with his general assholery.
Correct. Even though people shit on Metallica here, I use them as the benchmark as to how a band should act towards their fans. They reliably tour every year, have a great website, do meet and greets for their fanclub and always show a great appreciation for the millions of people who helped made them who they are. And NOBODY here has the right to talk shit about Load and Reload and all the sellout shit given what CD is all about. Load and Reload are GREAT albums.
Metallica as a live band still works, but they forgot how to make a good album years ago. I'll take a problematic band like Gn'R anyday, with some fuckin' inspiration left in it, over a great live act that put out Death Magnetic which was, let's face it, a watered down ..And Justice For All with none of the originality, energy and memorable solos, and on top of that, has the worst mastering I've ever heard in my life. Unforgiven 3? what the fuck?
This is all a subjective debate, I get that - but unforgiven 3 is the completion of a trilogy (sound familiar?) which tells a story. I take it you've not seen them live in some time, you'll take back your energy statement as well as the lack of solos. If the Ecstasy of Gold intro doesn't give you chills, you're not alive...something big is about to happen. Nobody debates the slotting of DM, timeline-wise, as a perfect fit between AJFA and the Black Album, but it has fundamental Metallica sounds that take you back 20 years during a time where rock and metal are manufactured and boring. Remember, these guys are pushing 50 so some of the stuff slows down, but they still do 125 shows a year.

All that notwithstanding, here's the thing that sticks with me most - I know that if I want to see Metallica in the next 12 months, I have a very, very good chance of doing that. In the next 24 months? Guaranteed. With Axl, nobody knows what the fuck is going on and at this particular point in his career, he should really reconsider this approach. Until he comes out and says "I don't give a fuck about touring, fans or anything else", he at least owes us that.
I just think the fans are owed some closure, one way or the other - either I'm committing myself to music, or I'm history...

GNR is alive , well and about to embark on a tour and you are not "owed" nor "entitled" to anything. It has been made more than clear that the tour is happening. Stop blubbering facts about Metallica. Nobody wants to hear that. Slash is not coming back so get over it. The band will not suffer from carcinogen exposure on the UK tour or any other tour.

Axl Rose's Twitter Account Hacked, Tour Still On
If you believed Axl Rose's Twitter account last night, the Guns N' Roses frontman had unilaterally canceled the band's upcoming European tour.
The message posted on Sunday evening (Aug. 15) stated: "All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds."
It always seemed likely to be a hoax: Rose is not active on Twitter and this is the first post in three months. Rose's other messages were posted via iPhone and this latest tweet was via mobile web. It was also curious that it had the British spelling of "cancelled."
Nevertheless, it proved disruptive as GNR's tour partners in the U.K. and Europe had to investigate the announcement. Ticket holders who saw early media reports of the supposed cancellation will doubtless be seeking refunds.
The band is due to headline Reading and Leeds Festivals, organized by Live Nation's Festival Republic operation, on Aug. 27 and Aug. 29 respectively.
"Festival Republic are informed by GN'R management that Guns N' Roses have NOT canceled their performances at Reading & Leeds and that Axl Rose's twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded," said a Festival Republic statement today (Aug. 16).
There are a further 24 European dates including a London O2 Arena show on Oct. 13, for which AEG Live is the promoter.

With all the bullshit that's been happening in the New GNR world lately, I've come to a startling realization. I simply do not fucking care about this band anymore. Nothing interesting has happened on the tour since early South America. Every setlist is exactly the same, and the performances of the songs that do have the privilege of being ON the setlist are vastly inferior to the Asia/Canada show bootlegs. I'll pay a bit of attention to the Reading/Leeds festivals, but honestly they're both just going to be the same old 16 song setlists with absolutely nothing interesting or different happening all show. After these two festivals, I don't see myself even checking the videos for anything until they play a proshot concert.
Top that off with the overall current state of the band. Everything about it is just a lackluster effort. According to what I've heard about the Sturgis show, Axl sounded terrible, Bumblefoot left the stage for 5 songs in a row and Frank messed up constantly. At this rate, Bumblefoot is definitely going to be gone by the end of 2010. Who can they replace him with? I honestly think they're just going to roll with Ashba and Fortus when this happens, and that will be a truly pathetic sight, completely unworthy of my attention.
The icing on the icing of the cake is this whole Twitter bullshit that happened today. After looking it over it's pretty fucking clear that Axl just had a moment where he just decided he didn't feel like touring anymore, and canceled the entire thing. The other members and the camp couldn't believe what they saw, so they tried to cover it up with their tweets. I'm pretty confident that the rest of the tour will still happen, but they're just going to be mailing it in.
Now with all of this said, no, I still do not want a reunion. It would definitely be better than the bullshit going on now, but it would also cancel out any slight hope we have of ever getting our hands on the unreleased Bucket stuff. I want to hear that, so until I do, I don't want a reunion.

I mean, Azoff did hit below the belt intentionally when he referred to W. Axl Rose as Bill Bailey and that is pretty low knowing how much W. Axl Rose has gone through personally and it's almost like Azoff was really trying to emotionally hurt Axl and that is unclassy. No lawsuit has ever referred to him as Bill Bailey.
If Axl wins this lawsuit, he will be the only person who succeeded taking down this person.
This lawsuit isn't like others that Axl has gone through. I am sure it has to be very draining and with an upcoming tour in place, the last thing Axl needs is Azoff pulling crap like that.
I mean go ahead and sue each other for $$$ or what ever but to intentionally refer to him as Bill Bailey is pretty low.

Have you ever had an account cracked on Twitter? I have and there is absolutely no way to get it resolved until you email the hell out of them which can take a week (in my case it took 4 days).
After someone finally replies to you, you have to send proof such as a driver's license and other info to prove to Twitter that you are who you say you are and that your account has been cracked.
No, never had my twitter account hacked. Your response seems plausible. But that only explains that post. They have other avenues of getting information out. There's the @gunsnroses twitter, and their Facebook (not to mention these forums, or the evil media). If Axl's twitter account was hacked, why wouldn't they say "the shows aren't cancelled"? I can't find the message they sent out that says that.

I was listneing to the 5 CD set that guy put upa few weeks back, great collection of some goodies, but i was shocked i had never heard the Albany rant about Slash & Duff. Is this the most we have axl talking about the breakup of the "old" band and the "zero" chance we have of seeing them share the stage again? Are there any other spoken words by axl on this?

It'd be highly doubtful for us to have more than one of the alumni up with us at any given time. I suppose Duff could play guitar on something somewhere, but there's zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash other than by ambush, and that wouldn't be pretty. He wrote that whole bit about not having his guitar in Vegas, I'd assume, to save face. I was told by both the Hard Rock and different Guns industry people who had come out to be supportive of the new band and were a bit surprised to see him there, especially guitar in hand, but just assumed it was a surprise for the show and we were in on the arrangement.
That whole Vegas thing is whatever to me, but if Slash brought his guitar, wouldn't he need to actually get onstage, plug it in and set it all up himself (if he's using someone in the bands amp at least) if no one knew he was coming? I mean that would look pretty shitty for a surprise appearance during a show.

I prefer Mike Patton...Never gave a bad performance ( or I've never heard one ), always looked cool, and his batshit craziness can rival Axl's.
