  1. If I were Axl I'd try to please both kinds of fans: the causal (vast majority) that don't give a shit about new music & the hardcore ones like us (tiny minority) that'd love to hear new music and more CD stuff being played at the shows.

The formula could be a two way tour: on the big shows he'd stick to basically a Greatest Hits setlist including just 1 or 2 CD songs like Chinese Democracy & This I Love, then he'd also play smaller venues & clubs - just like the previous UCAP tour where the setlist would be basically focused on CD & new music, just adding a couple of 'classics' to it.

    Just my 2 cents...

I really think this is a good solution. Nice concept.

  2. I remember in the chats Axl made mention that Izzy took home a healthy paycheck for his guest appearance with the band last time.

I didn't know about it. Can you show you us this part where Axl mentions the paycheck?

    ''Jungle, baby!'' :fuckyou:

I don't know where to find it, but I remember him saying that, also. I think he kind of had a little irritated vibe in the quote, if I remember correctly. Like he didn't know that management had negotiated the fee. It was either in the chats or in the Del-terview.

  3. Cool thread as I don't remember seeing anyone actually ask the question before.

Interesting to read. I'd always thought he was a trust-fund type whose website wound up getting him contact with the band. I never knew until the last few tours that he was in the support group/crew. He's pretty hardcore on his site, but I really like the fact that if you see something there, it's kinda like a confirmation for shows and whatnot.

Like so many have already said, tons of people on these forums would like to be in his spot.

  4. In my opinion, the band members have been more focused with their social networks lately. Like the video that Bumblefoot takes of the crowd at the end of every encore and the gig-focused tweets/posts/statuses from GN'R, Dj, etc.

I agree with you. I wonder if that has anything to do with the new "management". Don't really have a clue why it would, but it kinda seems like the same time frame.

Hope everybody there has an awesome time tonight!

  5. Never heard of him. Recommended?

    Absolutely!

I became a fan after I saw "It Might Get Loud", which is cool documentary about him, Jimmy Page, and the Edge. I never knew how good Jack White was until I saw that.

  6. I will always listen to leaks if they come out. I truly believe that anybody posting on this board would. Aren't you here because you love the music?? That's also the reason that all of us on here will also BUY anything that is released, as well.

I'm against them in general due to the fact of the record sales it prevents from the casual fans. I totally get that. If leaks stayed here among the crazy fans like us who buy everything also then it wouldn't be a big deal.

  7. Call me a conspiracy theorist, call me what you will, but more and more it is clear to me his Dexter account wasn't hacked when the post was made about the new album in 2012. His PR team just made up that bullshit about it being hacked because they didn't want the cat to be let out of the bag yet (or he was drunk, or both).

I'm with you 100% on this. I don't ever believe that "I got hacked" bullshit unless it's when celeb chicks get their nudie pics leaked. Even then I think some of those are just calculated PR moves.

What's promising to me is that Fortus usually says so little. I sure think there's got to be SOMETHING going on like that.

  8. Great interview. Thanks for posting it! Lots of interesting stuff.

    1. CD was pretty much done in 2001 and Axl wanted Slash to play on it, pending apologies. Wow.

    2. CD was totally done in 2006 but didn't get released until 2008. (I know about the mastering not being done and whatnot, I'm just going off of what Canter says in the interview)

    3. Canter says that he was one of two people who could call both Axl and Slash. I wonder who the other one was???

I can't believe I haven't gotten this book yet. What the hell is my problem??

Does anybody remember if Canter has ever spoken about the "Slash at the mansion gate" incident? It would be interesting to hear (or read) him discuss it.

Yes he has but you have got to move over to another forum to read it, he is/was actively posting about the interview on there.

are you allowed to directly post a link to it

    if not thats fine

can someone fill me in on this incident? never heard of it before

Slash showed up at Axl's gate at like 5 A.M. to see Axl and was supposedly telling Beta (I think it was) that Velvet Revolver sucked and Scott was a fraud and Duff was spineless. He didn't get in. I'm pretty sure this was around the tail end of Velvet Revolver.

I'm sure there was more stuff I'm not remembering but that's the basics of it.

  10. Axl is probably sat at home thinking 'Dont defend me you CUNT'

Piers said the '91 show he attended was (paraphrasing) the most dangerous, amazing show he'd ever seen.

    Fuckin right! B)

    Ill bet.

Shame. Coz some of the nut-huggers round here weren't even born in '91

    LA

Same with some of the dingleberry chewers around here.

Who would've thought that a band as iconic as GN'R could have younger fans?

People are so ignorant. Once they realize sumbodys younger, they automatically devalue their opinions, which is completely redic.

Im 25 now, but signed up on.chinesedemocracy.com in 8th grade(crazy huh) and a majority of "superior" (older) forum members always treated you like shit because you're 14 and weren't old enough to even see original band. So.how can u possibly have an opinion on gnr? So fucking dumb.

I'm an older fan myself but I don't value my opinion over any of the younger posters here. It's the younger posters that restore my faith in humanity because it shows that not everyone has lost all taste in music.

    That's a really good point!

I liked the piece. It sure beats the poo out him going on TV and slamming Axl.

  11. Today's TVs are still not ready for the Better video.

When I was tv shopping last year the owner of the place said that the hologram thing was the "next big thing" in television technology. Samsung's peeps told him that tv's would be coming in a few years that laid flat on the floor and projected holographic images up into your living room. Looks like the same kind of deal.

They'll be in stores pre-loaded with the Better video in about a week. :D

  12. I think it's a great idea. And do something that's self-deprecating as well. Show the world you can have some fun and not take everything so seriously.

I always thought it was hilarious when the Jackass guys kidnapped Brad Pitt from the line at some restaurant. Something like that would be funny IMO.

Of course I also think that going on either late night Jimmy show would be good, too. Silly me.

  13. The funny thing is, The 'Slashites' boo because they love Axl too. Essentially, Slashites, are original GNR fans to the core.

Axlites, are hardcore Axl fans and only appreciate what he is currently doing, while trying to ignore any importance of Slash (and other original members sometimes) - basically they agree with only Axl's point of view... they like what Axl likes, when he likes it.

I love Axl, and I'm really turned off by him not showing up to this. This would have been the one time he clarified and said "I'm currently touring with the new band, I love these guys, but we couldn't work together anymore..."

He could have promoted his GNR, as well as showed the world there are no more hard feelings, and make it clear that he is continuing to move forward with his current lineup. I feel like his parasitic peons are still keeping the door shut for all this. The shit that started this from the very beginning was Axl and Slash not talking face to face. They needed to stop talking through people. Whether it's Beta, Eddie Trunk, or whoever... the only way they will clear things up, is if they call each other.

I think BJA did a great job on the speech.

We might literally be sharing a brain with this post. Couldn't agree more with every word ya said! I was really impressed with everything I've seen speech wise. I'll be curious to see BJA's induction. Those are the kind of quotes that can change completely depending on his delivery.

  14. My final thoughts on the RNR HOF induction and how it was handled:

Just a disclaimer, I love how it was handled! The constant drama of GN'R is one of the things that fascinates me and keeps me interested. But from a professional perspective, from an adult perspective, from a business sense perspective, there are the mistakes that were done:

Everyone inducted: As soon as it was official, the guys that were inducted should have started to communicate and at the very least released a joint statement thanking for the nomination, thanking each other, and thanking the fans. They should also inform the committee and the fans whether the intended to play and who should take part in that.

Steven: Attacking the current lineup was an incredibly unwise move. The "new guys" are professional musicians who have nothing to do with past accomplishments or the induction. They have nothing to do with things and should be left out of it. Steven antagonized Axl and must have made him less eager to participate.

Axl: It's okay to not want to attend, but let people know early. And what the hell is the nonsense about not being inducted in absentia? Are you so afraid to be associated with the old members and your old friends that you don't even want to share your name together with theirs on a plaque? Come on!

Duff and Slash: Going public a few days prior to the event when no one knew anything to say that you would like to play, and hence put all the blame for the 5 guys not playing together again when you haven't communicated with Axl, on him alone, is not nice. If you really wanted to play with Axl you should have communicated with him. It might not have worked, but at least then your eagerness to play would sound more sincere and less backstabbing.

Duff and Slash: Not thanking Axl and Izzy for their contributions is just rude.

All in all a fitting celebration of early Guns N' Roses. Now lets concentrate on current Guns N' Roses :)

    Great points, SM.

It IS a little fitting that not even an honor like this (say what you want about the RRHOF, but about 98.4% of the country see it is an honor) can be done without all the drama and chaos that is/was that classic line up.

I'm glad all this shit is over so now everybody can just go back to complaining about the lack of new songs or a reunion or the set lists or endless CD tours or HTGTH or DJ's hat or......

  15. Axl needs to get over himself.

The VAST majority of Guns n Roses fans dont care about band politics... they dont even care about going to see the band live. To millions of people GnR were the soundtrack to their childhood. They listen to AFD in their car or stick Paradise City on the jukebox when they are in a bar.

The world has moved on from the old days, Gnr are no longer a big, influencial band. The HOF however was an opportunity for Gnr to say thanks to all the old fans but Axl couldnt handle that. If he cares so little for the old band then why didnt he reject the idea months ago. He loves the drama. He needs the drama because GnR are on the decline.

    Agree with this.

He originally described it as a victory for the fans. Unfortunately it's now the fans who have lost out on that so called victory of seeing one of their favorite bands on stage, one more time, graciously accepting this honor.

I was going to type up some thoughts on it, but this along with everything lukepowell has said pretty much sums up how I feel about.

New music better come soon or he will wind up looking foolish. And it better be really good after this debacle. And I also agree that if he is declining induction and turning his back on the past then it wouldn't be a bad idea to stop playing the AFD and UYI songs on his tours.

  16. Does nobody else think it's just a little odd that the dude goes however many years NEVER being shot by the paps and now the week before the HOF thing he's seen at a very public place with a very public person? Just kinda like when he just happened to hit that pap photog in the airport right before the Asian tour? By the way, no arrests were made and no charges were ever filed on that, were they? He's playing the modern day PR game and it builds a little buzz before something happens. No slamming here, I think it's a good thing and means he's going to Cleveland. Probably not to play, but at least he'd be there.

And for him to get that svelte this fast since the end of the UCAP tour, he'd need to have been doing cardio for 6 hours a day and living on cocaine. He looks GREAT but I'd bet he had a little surgical assistance. His right, I don't blame him at all after the Rio shit storm. I'd do the same thing if I was in his shoes.

  17. I don't think he has any leaks but I think this shows that there was at the VERY least SOME truth to the memory card thing. Personally I think it was about 75% true with some embellishment added in.

It's nice to see a little breakdown of the "I can't talk about GnR" policy. Ron seems like such a solid dude who really cares about the fans. Betcha he'd be a ton of fun to have a few drinks with. Really hope that his back gets better for him.

  18. I've thought for the most part that the best we would get is all the guys getting up on stage to accept and say a few words. Slash on one end, Axl on the other. The closer it gets, the more I think there will be a pleasant surprise for all of us. Getting up and singing a song or two would have literally NO negative impact except to a minute percentage of people (some of us here on the boards) who truly love the new band. I guess some people MIGHT get their panties in a twist if they buy a ticket to a show and it's not the original lineup, but a band photo on the posters (shocking concept) would take care of that! Oh well, here's hoping!!
