  1. What are the chances of in the entire world that Duff and Axl would end up not just in London at the same time but on the same night, same Hotel and in rooms next to eachother? I mean it's poss but I find it hard to believe. It turned out really positive for the band esp Axl. It certainly got him headlines and the good press he thoroughly deserved after Reading and Leeds drama as he's been performing out of his skin for the last month!

Those ladies don't seem to mind it

any1 famous as axl can pull off some chicks...He wouldent have a chance in real life with that mustache. The man looks like a serial killer! rock3

I don't agree. While it may be off-putting to look at he's such an interesting personality and has charisma! B)

  3. How is this thread still open, much less have 6 pages.

It's his mustache, his face, his life. I can care less about ii, his voice is great, the band is great, and I hope we get good things out of this band.

Can somebody please lock this thread.

Close the thread? LOL, its pure fact...image is important for a band. If u gonna introduce gnr to ppl u do not wanna show them a that ugly mustache! :fuckyou:

Dude, it's a mustache! Does it dictate how the whole band looks? No. It's goes with the redneck-type lifestyle he has. Image is important for a band, but I doubt Axl cares about image, see 2002. He wants to put on a great rock show and the best music possible.

I don't see how a mustache on Axl is gonna make a person hate the whole band, or their music.

I also highly doubt he cares what some poeple say on a forum about his looks. It's his life, let him does what want's.

Really? What are the characteristics of a redneck lifestyle? How does that fit with Axl's life?

  4. Its excellent that Duff and Axl have sorted their differences. We've learnt in recent years that Axl has reconciled with Duff, Matt, Steven and Izzy. The only exception is Slash, and the only way that they will reconcile is if Slash makes the approach to Axl, which is highly unlikely to see.

Unfortunately for Slash, he has an ego. Like Steven Adler, Slash's mouth can get him into trouble a lot. He even admitted this in his book, after he made some remarks about the Kiss guitar player while he was working with Guns N Roses right before Appetite for Destruction.

Slash did meet with Axl in 2005 at his home. Slash can deny it as much as he likes, but Slash did go to Axl's home and apologised for everything and asked to move on. Axl said he was happy with this and took his work, only to hear Slash come out afterwards and continue to remark poorly about Axl.

Slash dug his own hole. He's the only one who can make the approach to Axl. Would he lower his pride and ego to do that? Highly doubtful.

How do you know they met in 2005? Why couldn't they reconcile?

  5. I feel like that Dana article was about to get to some real insights on Axl but then doesn't and abruptly ends. Axl's such a mystery in alot of ways and he never does interviews so it's hard to know where is head is really nowadays. I really wanna know more about him. I haven't read any biographiess on Axl as I've heard they're not very accurate or that the person writing it has a chip on their shoulder etc... Anyone recommend any good biogs on Axl? Thanks.

  6. A lot of TV and film writers grew up on GNR. In "Californication"? Slayer, Springsteen, and Zevon references. I'm sure some of that's the creator as well as Duchovny's own taste in music they've gone off of.

Even writers for the president will throw pop culture references into the speeches they're working on. Obama threw a Hendrix one in his.

Brilliant! What did Obama say about Hendrix in his speech?

  7. Quality gig, way better than when i saw them in 2006. Was funny when someone threw some pants on the stage. Axl picked them up and hung them on a mic stand, later on DJ had them on his hat for a while and Axl told him to stop messing with his granny panties lol.

Got a 1080p vid of that moment later :)Here's the first of my videos..

    Chinese Democracy - 1080p

Please post the clip of that Granny panties joke! Thank you!

  8. First review.

    Guns N’ Roses

    LG Arena, Birmingham

words and pictures by James Watkins

Axl Rose is rock's true demigod

You have to admire the chutzpah of Axl Rose. The frontman of Guns N’ Roses belongs to a wilder, more decadent time. Not for him the rigours of arriving on time or playing by the rules. During his heyday, the willfully anarchic outlaw epitomised the excesses of sexs ‘n’ drugs ‘n’ rock ‘n’ roll.

On Sunday, following months of speculation and mass media coverage, Guns N’ Roses finally arrived at Birmingham’s LG Arena to delight a sold out and extremely patient crowd.

Hearing the news that the band being would be nearly an hour late for their stage time came as no surprise to GNR fans and Axl Rose, rock’s true demigod, waltzed onstage at 10.10pm to kick off proceedings with Chines Democracy.

The light-hearted boos turned into thunderous ovation and hysteria as Rose screamed down the mic and lifted the roof in a way only he could.

It was almost like going back in time as the effervescent frontman danced around the stage in torn jeans, silver jacket and trademark hat and sunglasses as the re-shaped band played through a set of classics, including the incendiary Welcome To The Jungle.

Other classic GNR tracks on the set list included It’s So Easy, Heaven’s Door, and the epic November Rain, which saw Rose pull up at his piano for a three-song solo that could have made you believed you were back in the 1980′s.

The two-hour set failed to disappoint, even featuring the classic Live & Let Die cover, set amidst a massive blast of pyrotechnics and flames that lit the arena up like a firecracker. The biggest cheer of the night graced the power chords of Sweet Child Of Mine.

Ending the night with yet more pyrotechnics and an awesome version of Night Train, the band really played a remarkable gig that brought memories flooding back and Paradise City closed the curtain just after midnight.

They may be the most arrogant and tardy band to ever grace the stage, but if for those prepared to wait in line, they gave a performance to cherish.

    Shropshire Star

This guy "gets it"! Bloody hell is this the best review Axl's gitten since old gnr days? Finally a reviewer without an agenda!

  9. Axl looked so vulnerable onstage it was so heartwarming. I really think he's mellowed alot in the last month. And having old bandmembers on shows that it's all a very relaxed kind of vibe! It's only a matter of time before he get round to Slash altho he doesn't need him. I never liked Slash's drugged out personality in the GNR days. He wrote great riffs etc.. but he lacked stage presence for me.

  10. Don't cry is just the highlight for me and he looks so much better without that awful hat! I love his mid range tone these days.

Excaclly that's my words. He looks so fine in this vid. without all this stage stuff (huts, shades, silver jackets etc. :) )

Give me 80s Axl any day but he looks sooo goood in Don't cry! Yes I agree that silver jacket, sunglasses and hat combo makes me cringe! That's where he's needs a wife to tell him "No honey"!

  11. That reviewer does seem to be rooting for Axl and the band. He praises them alot but focuses too much on the late start but I can see his point. There's too much talk of will he won't make it on time and that's distracting from just appreciating the concert. Can someone post a clip where Axl says" Now now.. don't throw thinhs...you might miss me and hit some of those nice people down the front, and we don't want that to happen". Pleeeeese! Thanks:)

Thank you so much!! Axl's so funny

  13. The I.R.S from Paris might even surpass the insane one from Rio in 06. The same song a few months ago he couldn't even sing half of the verses. He's been pretty awesome on this tour. Every tour he's ever been a part of he's been hit and miss, but the 09/10 version of the Chinese Democracy might be the most consistent he's ever been. That doesn't mean his voice is better than ever, but it is more consistently great than the majority of his touring career.

I'm new to the forum and was wondering do you or any others know why his vocals are hit and miss? I'm no vocal expert! I think he's singing very well on this European leg of the tour.
