I think you have WAY overthought this. Guns N Roses songs do not generally have any specific meaning, they are songs based on a certain feeling or emotion. This is normally expressed by the music that the song is attached to. Axl has always been very talented at writing lyrics that match the songs general musical composition. In this case, the words fit the music excellently.

I believe the reality is, Axl thinks about Slash a lot less than you think. I certainly don't believe that Axl would be that full of emotion, he would sit down and write a song about Slash. It makes him seem like some kind of possessed freak.

The riff is pure sex and the song is catchy as hell. If it was played on the radio and had a video with lots of hot girls stripping and stuff (something akin to a pussycat dolls video but with slash playing guitar all over the place) then it would be an enormous hit.

I don't know, but I think Slash's done. He's failing too much when he's soloing. He isn't a good guitarist anymore, just an ordinary player...

I'm done with Slash. He was great once, but now he just isn't putting in any real effort. He's just pissing off boring solos, with a few flashy fast notes here and there. He has terrible phrasing these days, he used to know how long to hit a note to hit that money spot, but these days he's just slap dash all over the place, there doesnt seem to be any emotion in his playing anymore, just a sort of 'yeah man, lets record it quick and capture the energyyyyyy yeahhhh' kind of bullshit which is fine in theory, but in practice it just means poorly writtten, poorly exercuted solos with no emotion or anything impressive.

There are so many better guitarists out there, he isnt even very good any more.

And I say this of the new album too from what ive heard. Nothing impressive there.

Frankly, if he didnt look the way he does then people would have stopped caring years ago.

If they are a great band then fine. Prove yourself on you OWN material. Bring out some albums that will fill arenas with people who want to hear THOSE songs. Don't just play other peoples songs an cash in on other peoples success.

Bands like lynyrd skynyrd and thin lizzy tour...they aint the bands they pretend to be either. (Very fitting that 'Thin Lizzy' is opening for 'guns n roses' now)

Replacing one or two members is ok, if they work musically together and still write good music that is true to the spirit of the original focus.

Look at Audioslave for instance.....thats basically the inverse of what we have here with guns...............THEY CHANGED THEIR NAME, BECAUSE IT WASNT RATM OR SOUNDGARDEN. TO SAY IT WAS WOULD BE WRONG.

I think it's a strong possibility that Slash might want to see how his new album with myles sells. It looks like it will be a good album and if it sells well then Slash might be able to be a headline act with a band of his own with a singer who he gets on with and can make music with.

He may not have a need to make as much money as is possible with a reunion, but by touring as 'guns and roses' it ensures ticket sales that pack out big stadiums and this suits his ego. :/ Slash does need to be pushed. Even on the first solo record he was pushed to make something the singers he wanted liked, but this is just his usual aerosmith on steroids stuff. There's clearly a difference between this, and his material with guns or even velvet revolver. I thought VR had a pretty unique sound, and slash was doing some really interesting things on guitar. This stuff reminds me of one of the reviews for Chinese Democracy, where there writer said Axl wasn't necessarily trying to innovate, but perfect a sound he has been chasing in his head. That's what Slash seems bent on doing, but unfortunately the sound he's chasing has been done before, by himself, and done better. The choice of singer helps nothing either.

Slash's best hopes are a Guns reunion, or VR with Scott or Corey Taylor, all of which rather unlikely.
