Audio review of radio personality Cindy Scull from 97.1 KEGL. She is notorious for making fun of GnR and Axl especially. Looks like this show really changed her mindset of the band/Axl.

@Un42nutzly the people I went with enjoyed Sorry also, they said the lyrics matched Their perception of how Axl thinks and the shut up and sing part is nuts.
Axl and Slash thing...Axl was messing with Slash on Coma but it didn't come on the big screen, they were stage left.
Not much interaction between them outside of that. Axl seemed to be in a better mood than everyone else, ironically I think it was Axl that made them late. He was the only one I saw come down from the tunnel and running up the side ramps stage left to enter the backstage 2 min before the show started. I think everyone else was already waiting. So maybe Slash was a bit bothered by that.
I didn't put too much to it though, I figured they both went out there and put on a great show. Axl's the one that everyone is trying to keep happy and he seemed to be in the best mood I've ever seen him.
If someone pissed him off he got revenge by showing up late, playing 4 CD songs and putting on a great show for 3 hours. I'll take it
Yeah, Axl really seems like the happiest guy up there, all smiles and goofing around.

Please no about Axl and Slash not getting along. Not buying it. Haven't seen any vids yet. Anyone hot any insight. Are they still vibeing?
IDK, my theory is maybe their was some tension due to the hour wait time to show start. Pure theory though. Axl was leaning on Slash and messing with his guitar (I think that is when he caused it to go out of tune) and Slash didn't really seem to think it was funny but he could have just been very into his playing at the time.
here's what was said so far. He's a busy guy in between doing EMT and working for the fire department.

The show was incredible! The vibe felt nostalgic as if we were put in a time machine back to the 90's UYI tour. The crowd was immense!!! As for the show starting a bit late, our seats were positioned at the 50 yard line 200 section so we had a perfect vantage point to the back area where they are brought in from the golf carts. As time went on, I watched as crew paced back and forth almost nervously, this got me thinking something was wrong. 1 hour later, the show began which ceased my (and other's) nerves. As soon as they hit the stage, everyone in my section were throwing each other high fives and screaming at the top of their lungs. I heard many "it's happening!!!" and "let's go!!!" phrases among others. The crowd near me were dancing, jumping, and singing so I am guessing the crowd was pretty wild compared to some other shows. During the ballads (Estranged, This I Love, November Rain) and most of the jams, the crowd would sit down and have their eyes glued to the stage, fascinated by what they were hearing. I didn't see any bored fans at all. Those moments were the areas where the instrumental were soft and allowed Axl's vocals to be put front and center. I could tell everyone, included my uncle (who is fan of all of the hits, not familiar with the deep cuts/ChiDem material), were impressed. Speaking of my uncle directly, I was able to gain perspective. I asked him his thoughts after the show:
Favorite performance from the show: Sorry - He said he really liked the heavy vibe to it, and he thought Axl's voice sounded incredible. (he also noted that, of course, the hits were incredible to see.) I told him it was from Chinese Democracy and he was shocked. He figured it was a classic deep cut song that he just wasn't aware of.
Lowest moment - This could cause some hate (even my jaw hit the floor), but he said Coma was the low point and that it just didn't sound good. He said the bridge just sounded muffled and that could've very well been due to the stadium acoustics.
Stadium acoustics were probably the worst I've ever heard. You could only hear Axl's really deep lows and really screeching highs, everything else was inaudible. The echo was way too much and did ruin the experience.
Thoughts on the band overall: He said that Slash looked more overweight than he remembered him being, also made a joke about his shirt showing too much 'man-boobie'. However, he said Slash stole the show and in his opinion is the most talented, stating he sounds EXACTLY like he did in his heyday. He spoke highly of Axl, saying he can't believe the guy can still hit those notes with that much power. He said he has an ability to dominate a crowd, and has some serious dance moves that got him (my uncle) moving. He did ask about face lifts which I told him Axl denied. He asked who 'the guy in the red is' and I said Richard Fortus. He thought his energy brought another dynamic to the band and said he could hear some country-roots in his guitar playing. I remember WTTJ coming on and doing his intro "You know where the **** you are?!?!" and him turning his head towards me with his jaw at the floor, and I just smiled and said "told ya".
He said it is by far the best show he has ever seen.
Something extra:
My brother-in-law worked EMT for ATT Stadium last night and had direct responsibility for the band's safety (he was sidestage the whole show). After the show, I received a message from him stating " I could definitely tell that Axl and Slash still aren't getting along " which I still have not received details on. Not sure if that comment was made from something he saw directly or just a vibe. I'm waiting for a response with more info. Definitely take it with a grain of salt though.
Conclusion: Absolutely incredible. The whole band looks thrilled to be there and out of the 6 GNR shows I've seen through the years, this one tops them all (even with the stadium acoustics being downright awful). Seeing the band play so tight and Axl/Slash sounding at the top of their game was truly a sight to see. Highlight for me was KOHD as it was cool to see Axl interact with the crowd. The crowd was GIGANTIC!!!

I could buy one for you and hold onto it if you are willing to pick it up at my home in Arlington.
The plan is to buy all the merch, bring it home and then head back to the stadium.
I'll have my hands full tonight and do not need swag weighing me down....
Ah that's a smart idea!
I'll probably try my luck when I get there, but I appreciate the reaching out!

I'm going to head to the Pro-Shop to clean the place out around 3:30.
If all goes well, I will grab 2 programs (essential), 3 Arlington shirts for friends and myself, and at least 2 lithographs.
Since I am not going to the Houston gig, this frees up my money for swag!
leave me one!!! lol

I love this podcast, but when the hosts have such an interesting guest, they need to do LESS talking, LESS side tangents, and let the guest talk. Also, the hosts talk over each other a lot.
I agree. there were times where the guest would be telling a story and one of the hosts would almost interrupt with a story of their own.

Opie says the roof will not be open due to heat, so they have to work out the sound issues today.
I think it's bc Axl wants to wear his jackets
Uhhhh, that sound is going to be muffled. Let's hope they figure something out.

As long as the performances are mixed well, they will sound just fine. They need to mix the sound as though you were there seeing it live. I thought they did pretty well with the Appetite for Democracy DVD, and IMO Axl sounds better now.

It was meant as a hyperbole, with sarcasm... chillax.
That said, she needs to be gone. There was barely any place for Dizzy, there is absolutely no place for a cute hipster dufus.
Well, there are many fans who enjoy what she adds to the band, so you may just have to learn to like her

There will be one piece of technology in the vast building that will not be in use Wednesday: AT&T Stadium’s enormous video screen.
Skjerseth said the band did not want the screen turned on, as it would be a potentially dangerous and brightly lit distraction for them.
“Basically you’re watching yourself and it’s not a good thing,” Skjerseth said. “You never know, they could be watching it and fall off the edge of the stage. That’s a reason a lot of bands won’t turn it on.”

Wah Wah Wah I really hope the current set list really affects your life negatively. That would really make me happy. Stop friggin complaining, what we have is incredible. 2 hour and 30-45 minutes of music from Guns N Roses. They could easily do what most bands do... An hour of hits and done. FYI I have been drinking so sorry beforehand ?? but yeah go live and enjoy your life elsewhere if this isn't doing it for ya.
