i don't know if that's normal for all album recordings, but it makes me understand why it took 10+ years to be released

It's very common at mixing stage. The tweaks you see in that listing are very subtle. In one hour you can made all that adjustments.

What takes more time is the recording. 4 or 5 takes (or more) are usually recorded and then the best one is chosen or one is made with the best parts of each. A general mixing stage is made  with that "final take" and then a stage of small adjustments that are those seen in that list.

how can you loose your ability to write hit singles? its like Axl didnt know that a song needs a chorus here.

Their environment has changed. He is not longer that white boy in the jungle. He is no longer hungry to conquer the world (maybe yes, but not with the passion that you have when you are an adolescent). When you write songs, you write about your life, your experiences, your situation. He is in the confort zone now, like many other artist who lost that spark. Did Izzywrite any song catchy like the ones he wrote for gnr? Slash? Did Roger Waters write any great song like the ones he wrote for Pink Floyd?
Also remember, AFD was written by a band, not by Axl all alone. Maybe you can write the greatest lyrics, but you need a melody, a riff, and the most important, that chemistry with the other band members.

It is a rough demo of a work in progress song, I think that expectations for this in the case of some people are a bit high.

People get this idea of the phrase "big gun" in their head and think that their listening experience will be 10x that of November Rain while drinking the best single malt scotch on Christmas Day,  when in reality it is just a song - and in this case a song that is not properly mixed, not finished recording, and might be way more fully fleshed out by the time Bumble got to working on it in 2007

A big song doesn't need a big production.

Proof: November Rain acoustic demo, or the piano version. Bad quality sound, very high quality song

Translation may not be great but this article advises the followup to chinese democracy was to be a album called PRL so I highly doubt its a instrumental.

If someone could translate it better than google translate please go ahead.

...and gave some details of about the new album: He has 36 songs practically finished (one dedicated to John Lennon, another about child abuse), and there is a possibility that the album be double  (like UYI). One would be called Chinese Democracy and the other PRL

I seem to remember reading that at the Hong Kong show in 2002 they put the album artwork up on the screens during Chinese Democracy, and that it was a picture of a bicycle. So I'm not sure if it's the same as the final artwork, but it sounds like it was more or less the same concept.

Resultado de imagen para chinese democracy bicycle

I remember this artwork showing up before the release. It's seems fan made, but it's very accurate with the concept
