  1. Because people like that are just VERY wrapped up in the name guns n roses, not the feeling or the meaning. The original guns is Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, Steven. There was a few guys that jammed for about a month before this original band came together that was also called guns n roses but no one cares. When people say "I want the ORIGINAL smashing pumpkins back" they mean Billy, D'arcy, James, and Jimmy not just Billy and James like the band was at the very early stages. They played a few shows live just like that pre-original line-up of guns.

People only say that kind of stuff as sort of a justification of what Axl is doing. You can tell because Volccano preaches it constantly. Many, many bands go through line-up changes before settling down on a solid line-up. Guns is one and due to the situation that has come over the past 20 years those names like Ole are getting mentioned for the first time just to be used for the purpose of saying Slash and those guys were not "original" members.

EDIT: See the post right below mine? He jumped right on it. It's everything to do with semantics, nothing to do with what the concept of guns n roses originally meant to so many people. It's as I said a justification for not holding a steady line-up.

  2. I don't see how Slash quit and Axl didn't. You're simply going by the name GUNS N ROSES. Axl quit from the other guys just as much as they quit from him the only difference are two and a half words, nothing that goes along with those words either, those simple words are "guns n roses".

If the name had have been split evenly the band would have broken up rather than members quitting. The fact that some of you don't think Slash should get in because he "quit" is amazing and worthy of a mental study by top scientists.

  3. I couldn't give a fuck less about the hall of fame the reason this is a big deal is because the premise forces Slash and Axl into the same room if they both go.

Of course it's silly Deep Purple and Kiss (as much as I think they're lame, Kiss I mean) aren't in but again, it's only due to the situation with guns that most of us care.

I'd guess at least one of the original members will comment within the week. Should be interesting watching what they have to say over the next few months, who confirms they're in, etc.

  4. Oh buddy, it's on.

    GUNS N FUCKIN ROSES

Slash and Axl on stage together, it's gonna happen. I'm sure we'll get some legendary pictures and videos out of this whole shindig and probably lots of funny, spiteful, gleeful quotes from the various originals prior to the event. Do you think guys like DJ and Tommy are worried they might lose their jobs if all goes perfectly? I really like Tommy but having Duff back really would be amazing... same for all the other old guys. If I was Gilby I'd hope to get in but would know really I wouldn't. Slash and Axl embracing eachother after years of hate and distance... it's going to be great. Then, reunion tour, new studio album recorded in a few months without bombastic cheesy production, then touring off that as the biggest classic rock band touring and get all their credibility back before retirement.

You may find yourself laughing at what I think is going to happen. You may find yourself in my fantasy world. You'll enjoy it, we have cookies.

I assume you are joking, and I do find what you're saying hilarious. But if you don't happen to be joking, its people like you thats the reason they haven't gotten back together or publicly done stuff. They have been past old GNR for years now and the problem with getting together is that this is what all the speculation leads to and it interferes with what they are currently doing. It makes it seem that everything they've done since 1993 is worthless, which just isn't true in all of their cases.

I'm super serial about thinking Axl and Slash WILL both be there. The last sentence is my fantasy world. But some dreams do come true, Martin told me that. Yes, I just made an outlandish comparison between myself and a civil rights hero. Someones fantasy always becomes a reality and wilder things have happened. It's people like me that they don't do stuff together? Get real. You must be one of those dudes who think everything said on this forum has big effects to the band and the GNR fanbase overall. There's like less than 50 regulars around here. The reason they don't do things together, first off, is a joke as they all do and have. They play on each others albums and live with each other often. You think they would stop because of people like me might want them to get the band back together! Oh no!

Why is looking into the past negating what they have done? Is Ozzy getting back with Black Sabbath negating all his solo work? No, because that stuff is powerful on it's own. If your scared a reunion might eclipse Slash solo (still working on second album, I'm sure he'd delay it for GNR reunion), VR (on hiatus, at best), or Chi Dem (came out 3 years ago, no talk of a new one or the planned follow-ups from Axl) than that sort of just shows your lack of belief in the strength of that material.

  6. I'm starting to think this is going to happen.

I know not a lot has changed for my opinion to change but I really feel like everyone is down for it and it's possible Axl is too. He wasn't that negative about it and I think this event could spark something. Maybe they will all let their emotions out of the bag and squash their egos? They're all older now, wiser, perhaps looking for that amazing feeling they had when they were together again? You know, like when you're going out with a girl and you have a messy break up so you think in your head "I hate that bitch" and she thinks the same of you, all you got is negative feelings and you don't remember the good shit you did together then one day you look back and all the negative is gone and you just think "that was a good time, while it lasted" haha. I don't think there will ever be a CD2 I think even Axl might be getting bored with this whole thing and maybe thinking about the possible reunion at the rock n roll hall of fame and this new tour doing basically the same thing as previous tours. I don't know, there's got to be a lot going on in his head. Contemplation, and the like.

As for who gets inducted, either the classic lineup or classic + Sorum and Dizzy. It's really 50/50 in my mind.
