Fair enough - to each their own. When was the last time you listened to UYI II in its entirety?AFD
UYI II
UYI I
Lies
TSI
CD
I make myself listen to CD and there are some songs I like but none that I "feel" like I do AFD. I cannot listen to Paradise City or Night Train on anything less than top volume. WTTJ I love because the bass line is almost a song in itself. I can be in a rotten mood and any song from this album honestly makes me get out of my funk and sing along. I think it is the raw stripped down sound. CD is just too much. It feels like the songs were sort of pieced together by different individuals, at different times. AFD was very much an album that gelled. It feels like they literally sat down and wrote the while thing altogether in one sitting.
Years ago. Because I never listen to My World and Coma bores me after a while. The other songs, regularly.

Was going to say all of that, but you already did. On top of that stuff, Vince sat there on the Behind The Music with that stupid "proud of myself" face and dropped that "I was the OJ of the 80s!" line. Shut up Vince.
Aim high, Vince. *smh*

So, I just got a new copy of the UYI Tokyo DVDs so that my daughter can enjoy the family tradition (she's 11, plays guitar, and loves GNR) of watching like I did with my mom. I have always wondered: is there a reason Slash and Duff never seemed to button and/or zip their pants? Seriously. If Duff had the wherewithal to put on suspenders, why not just button and zip his pants? Was it a "cool" thing? Were they unaware when they left the john? Inquiring minds want to know. LOL

The only thing Duff has done that is tolerable since leaving Axl's band, Beautiful Disease, was never officially released
You are entitled to your opinion. I am a fan. I like his stuff.
On a different note, I have Watch You Bleed and Reckless Road. I enjoyed both. Not particularly enlightening if you have followed the band, but entertaining. I have also read The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx. It wasn't bad but felt very disjointed. Considering it was literally his thoughts during addiction, this fits. I tried to read Vince Neil's book. I couldn't get through it. A few chapters in, I was so sick of the name-dropping, hearing about his expensive cars, hearing how great he feels he is....I just had to put it down. I kind of want the $3.97 back that I paid for it in the bargain bin. I just started "Love, Janis" by Janis Joplin's sister. I got this, as well as "Scars of Sweet Paradise", another Joplin book, for Christmas. I would like to say I would like to read a book by Sebastian Bach but...as much as I love his vocal ability, I'm afraid I would be annoyed by a book he wrote. I think I would like to read the story of Skids, but I think his penchant for name-dropping and his 12-year-old mentality would grate on my nerves.

I am a mother. I would love to have more children. I am fortunate enough to have a great husband, a safe home, and a little money in the bank. I understand that not everyone is as fortunate as I am. I am a firm believer in not judging the decisions of others. I don't know their circumstances, their home life, their background. I believe abortion is a difficult decision for 95% of women who choose to have one. "If you cannot trust me with a choice, how can you trust me with a child?" sums it up pretty well, I think. Quality of life should be far more important than quantity.

Seriously. And Synyster Gates? Just....wow. But I have to say, I didn't expect Matt to be such an Energizer Bunny. Good on him!
Yeah, wow. Matt Sorum. Tracii and his "son." That was all pretty, uh....explicit?There is a print version. There was, anyway. I remember hearing about this book quite a while ago so I don't know if it was ever picked up for re-print or not. I wouldn't spend more than bargain aisle prices for it. It was...interesting. I can sum it up for you if you want the cliff notes version?

What does Duff say about leaving gnr and CD in his book? I need to get it. But I'm just curious what his "feelings" towards the whole thing are now.
He doesn't really mention CD. His feelings about leaving GNR were pretty well conveyed. I think his book is the least "finger-pointing" of those written. There are sections that Duff-bashers like to point out that he "lied" or whatever but I thought the book was very good and managed to tell the story of GNR from his perspective very well and with a very limited amount of playing the blame game. I read a lot. It is a very expensive habit. Duff's book is my favorite autobiography. Ever. I recommend it not only to GNR fans, but recently I recommended it to a friend of mine who has been in and out of rehab and is trying to get his shit together. He feels like nobody knows what he's going through and I thought it might be sort of inspiring for him. I am sure some douchecanoe will come on here and call me names for being such a fan of Duff, but I think he's a cool cat, down to earth and mellow. He freely expresses his insecurities in his book and that takes a lot of balls. Mad respect. I need a TEAM DUFF t-shirt.

Was that the book where she talks about Dizzy knocking her up? Not sure.
Yep.

Great read. Will have to get book. Thx.
It' s a pretty good read, but I found Slash's more entertaining. I think Slash is a bit dishonest, sometimes contradictory and usually self-serving but there's a certain romanticism in the excess that I find enjoyable. Duff's book is more linear, but I feel like there's more you can sink your teeth into with Slash's book.
I liked them both but I enjoyed Duff's book immensely. I thought Slash's book was good and it told a lot of great stories but Duff's seemed more emotional to me. I laughed my ass off in the prologue when he was talking about not being cool enough to be seen at his daughter's birthday party.
Adler's book was a whole lot of name-dropping and a lot more about his sexual exploits than I ever wanted to know. TMI doesn't begin to cover it.
I wish books were Izzy's style because I think he would write a GREAT book.
I agree with that. Duff's certainly is more emotional and you kind of get the impression that there's a moral to the story- but I think that's what I enjoyed about Slash's, the fact that he seems unrepentant. I actually just bought Adler's book, but I haven't started reading it yet. I've also read Watch You Bleed and WAR in the past, but they always seemed like an outsider (with an agenda) perspective.
I just read Last Living Slut today. I am seeing Matt Sorum in a whole new light. If I ever run into him, I'm giving him a standing ovation.
What's that one about? GNR related book?
Sorum has always come across as a good dude to me.
It's that book written by Roxanna Shirazi. Admittedly, I got the link on M's board. Read the whole thing this afternoon. It is essentially the story of a groupie who had sex with...well....everybody. It is very adult oriented and has some really heavy topics in it. I wouldn't call it a great book...but more like a porn inspired gossip rag that you just have to see what happens next.

Wow. That was great. I love the candid stuff.

I dig the song. My opinion is perhaps he should focus on being cleaner with the vocals. There are a lot of places that he is kind of swooping up to a note and missing it (flat) or he's falling off of notes, not in a cool way. If he can clean it up and cut the vocal embellishment at the end of most phrases, it would be pretty cool. Just my opinion.

A pair of footie pajamas just like Gene Simmons has.

If Liza Minelli was impregnated by both Nikki Sixx and Criss Angel simultaneously, the result would be DJ Ashba.

Just curious -
If you were to have the opportunity to meet and hang out with any GNR member, past or present, for an entire day - who would you pick and what would you do? Flea market hopping with Axl? Jamming with Slash? Coffee with Bumble? Sparring with Duff? Spending a lovely afternoon with DJ, hot gluing sequins and sparkles on the latest swag? Saving dolphins with Matt?
I am just curious what you think would be a badass day spent in the company of your favorite nuGun/ex-Gunner.

*sigh* Nobody will beat the scene of Linda Hamilton doing pull-ups in her cell in T2. She was the shit.
I love Linda Hamilton.......always found her to be sexy as hell back when Terminator was made but lets face it she is too old for this job now just as Arnold is to play a Terminator now............
Agreed. I think Hollywood has run out of ideas. They are either making endless sequels that no one cares about or they are rehashing classics that don't need to be remade.

Douchecanoe, wtf?? LMAO!!!
Thank you, folks! I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your bartender.

Thanks for the clarification! I was thinking 'hooray for tolerance" was some username for a douchecanoe who was banned. LOL

The Crow
Funboy: "Jesus Christ!"
Eric Draven: "Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ walks into a motel..."
Funboy: *cocks gun and shoots Draven*
Draven: "Ow. He hands the innkeeper three nails and he asks...."
Funboy: *shoots Draven again* "Don't you ever fuckin' die?"
Draven: "Can ya put me up for the night?"
Does anyone else feel Duff's book is way more honest and truthful and less biased than Slash's and Adler's?

Not to jump on either side but Axl is notorious for surrounding himself with "yes" men. This is also a form of enabling.
