    Money.

    /Thread.

But the first year that this iteration of guns reunited--(2016,) should have given him and everyone enough money to retire (x 10)  for ten lifetimes

Why does he feel the need to milk every last penny out of the memory of this band?

Axl was a recluse for a decade (refusing every single offer of a tour full stop)

He was a rich man. No matter what

What is his motive now? What  is the purpose of The relentless touring now ?

Axl was not a person who craves money or the limelight, so why?

  2. This iteration of GNR and the previous iteration toured non stop, doing multiple European and North America  tours on the same tour sometimes.

They even when ahead with a concert in Mexico when every other band had ceased touring due to covid

It's almost as if the mafia or Satan has some kind of hold over him and making him tour non stop to repay unpaid debts

These are strange times. People around the world are isolated in their homes, cut off from loved ones, unable to attend almost all the social activities they normally would. And in the midst of all that, you see people coming up with tons of incredible and creative ways to still create a sense of togetherness and unity. One of the many ways this is happening is through artists taking to the internet to cheer up and support their fanbases. From personal messages to online live performances to personal video's where they're playing or telling stories to sharing demo material or outtakes. And I think it's amazing because I don't think any of this is particularly profitable to them. It's artists trying to bring some cheer to the people who have supported then for years simply by staying in touch and keeping them slightly sane through all this.

I've seen some things on Twitter from Slash and Duff, but that's pretty much it I think.

But nothing of the sort from "the GnR camp". Nothing supportive or fun or interesting. Because Guns n' Roses doesn't do charity or non-profit. Hey, kids, if you want to stay sane you can always buy a fucking yoyo.

I think your assessment of Gnr is spot on

Making cash is their number one reason d'etre. The fans are pretty much taken for granted

A competition for the fans, US fans only, to win a voucher so you can spend it all in the  "Gnr store "  says it all about this band

The Rolling Stones have a vast album catalog with brilliant albums (sticky fingers, beggars banquet, let it bleed, exile on main street among others), cant compare the two.

You can compare them if they are selling out the same sized stadiums.. Rolling stones have 4 great albums, GNR have 3, who cares? ...a touring band only cares about sales!

  5. I know That GNR are a poor man's stones. I am not disputing that

I am saying that GNR are the new Rolling stones, in terms of touring and resting on past laurels, a proven and profitable concept

A touring band that  does not create new music. And why would they?

Why release new music that is open to criticizing when you simply don't have to

In fact. New music would be a bad template

You make all the money and keep all the love by just touring

Rolling stones last good album early 80s?

  6. Also I feel that Axl is holding back a lot, maybe trying to figure out what should be the next step with Guns N' Roses and what kind of sound he wants to use for the next album... maybe thinking what can I do with all of this songs or trying to writte songs of his own that he needs or likes to do but for some reason doesn't want to realese them, maybe he's not sure about them or maybe he fells they would be to hard to sing them live or something else... Or he just doesn't care that much about putting out there music right now and he only wants to play live shows like he's been doing for the last 4 years, enjoying himself instead of to please everybody in the planet :D

Axl is creatively spent , he has no creative fight left in him. He is the cynical old fart that the 25 year old Axl hoped he would never be.. Where is his passion , balls , heart , where is his appetite for destruction ?

  7. Regardless of whether they are willing to confront Axl or not, I don't think there's any denying that they, at minimum, look like a tough band.

Listen , They are getting the biggest pay checks of their lives. I'm sure they would like to be playing new songs, but when you are dealing with a flakey paranoid ego maniac like Axl., you just got to deal with it until you feel the need to jump the sinking ship.. THe fact that Axl isn't in "the band" photo speaks volumes...!!!!

  9. Do you think any of the current bandmates would feel comfortable enough with Axl to possibly confront him either individually or collectively about the lack of writing/recording new music?

Okay, we all know Axl calls the shots and chances are the Lebeis family have a greater say over the future plans of GNR than any of the actual bandmates bar (or possibly including) Axl. But are the likes of Ron, DJ and Tommy really just content to endlessly tour the old material for a quick and easy paycheck?

Maybe I'm gulliable or naive, but I have a hard time believing these guys are happy with the current groundhog day status of the band. Sure, it's probably the best gig these guys are ever going to get and they're probably paid handsomely, but is that really enough for them? Do they care about Guns N Roses as a band or are they just not that invested?

At least with the likes of Buckethead and Finck you got the impression they saw their roles in GNR as more than merely being a part of a touring nostalgia act. Bucket left the band due to his frustrations at Axl's lack of productivity, which at the very least, shows that he cared.

Does Ron or DJ care that much? Or are they so afraid of Axl and his mafia-esque inner circle that they don't want to rock the boat?

I'd Say Tommy and Bumblefoot would have directly confronted Axl ,THey are not the type of personality to bottle things up but they may as well be "beating a dead horse" . Djashba is trying to massage Axls ego by telling him how great his unreleased songs are, in the hope that his attitude will change. W'ont work. Axl is an ego eccentric ultra paranoid personality who thinks the whole world is against him. His grip on reality isn't very strong .He probably thinks the traffic lights are out ta get him ! and that Slash could give a fuck what he does or does not do!

THe guy has has been touring the songs off "Chinese Democracy" for 11 years now.. He doesn't have the balls or the guts or the heart anymore to try something new / change/ or be a daring and creative force again !!

  10. Guns n roses have a history of guitarists leaving recently. How long do you think it will be before one of the current members leaves?. There may come a time where they will be fed up playing a never ending "Chinese Democracy tour" and songs that someone else wrote 20- 25 years ago

These guys are flamboyant and amazing guitarists in their own right, whom are being paid well for their services I know... but I also know that they are very creative and talented people itching to write their own material...Something has to give

  11. To quote what I said elsewhere; I wouldn't say successfully developing a new chapter of one of the greatest rock bands of all time is a 'failure', especially with the furore around lawsuits, revolving members, whatever personal shit he has and record label negotiations. To release an album as bizarre and schizophrenically brilliant as CD and it being even semi-coherent, all that against the checkered and weighty history of the band is remarkable in itself. Not to mention Axl's unique and antisocial ways of marketing seemingly utterly shunning conventional commercialism and letting the music talk.

The failure imo is not building on the 08 - 11 foundation he fought so hard for - Rock in Rio 2011 in particular, perfect opportunity. Though there is still time and momentum enough for a year or two to continue his evolution but if nothing changes then we'll be stuck in GNR + Chinese Democracy World Tours With Axl's Cover Band on the tombstone (which is totally inaccurate inside the complexities but as an epitaph, would be unfortunately true.)

Axl ( Guns n Roses) have been touring 'Chinese Democracy ' for over 10 years now .... I know that the die hard fans will say that he is putting on a great show, even though he is playing more or less the same songs (give or take a few songs and cover songs for over a decade !)

  12. I hope and believe we will get new music released sooner rather than later. Just for the sake of argument, let's say that doesn't happen. Axl can continue to tour as long as the public has a desire to hear the classics. People pay good money to hear Roger Waters do the Pink Floyd material after all these years. Neil Diamond is still touring off his old music. Granted, I've heard he plays a lot of his current stuff, which the fans yawn through. It's not exactly the same genre, but these are just a couple of examples that popped into my head that show there is an audience for classic hits.

Granted, GNR doesn't seem like a red hot ticket in the United States (though it seems like attendance is up in several cities compared to the last tour), but the band continues to play to some huge crowds in South America. I'm sure they could take the trip over to the UK and do great business as well. As much as I hope we hear new music, I have no doubt that Axl can continue to make great money touring without new music as long as he picks and chooses the right times to tour and doesn't do it so frequently that it no longer feels special.

Well after another North American tour and now a new European tour , no new music.. This is another cash grab "Chinese Democracy" tour

  13. Axl ain't in it for the money (at least not to the level of other artists at his level). If he was he'd reunite with Slash and make many times what he does now from touring. I think the guy just enjoy's touring and doesn't enjoy releasing music until it's perfect in his mind. That's just about it.

Touring makes alot more money than new music. Will you pay to see a "greatest hits" or "chinesese democracy" tour in in 2012 or 2013?

  14. I'm not trying to bitch

This band has made 10's of millions touring off "Chinese democracy" since 2001

They will keep touring the same tour as long as people keep paying to see them, if there is demand in Japan or Europe next year. Another" Chinese" tour with a couple of song changes. Axl gets to fund his lavish lifestlye, including band wages, and fight his legal costs etc.

Band Members will say how great Axl is and how his music is out of this world, promote his music ( That they know isn't going to be released on their watch), his band members that are getting paid obscene amounts of retainer fees!

  15. How long can you keep touring one album? How many of these "cash grabbing" tours before people start saying , enough!?

They have officially being touring this album, "Chinese Democracy" every year since its crazily delayed release date of 2008, unofficially every concert since 2001

Will you continue to support this band if they are touring this album in 2012,2013, 2014.... onwards?

I know that this is a controversial question in a hard core gun n roses fans forum, but it is a question that needs to be raised!, Does anyone find it a bit tedious and uninventive of a musical group to.. , in Axls words, to keep "beating a dead horse"?

I find it embarassing when I hear Dj Ashba croon every time he is interviewed, that Axl has so many amazing unrealeased songs , and that Axl is a musical genious , misunderstood etc. This coming from a guy that is being obnoxious money to go on these tours. I bet he would love to be touring "Chinese Democracy" in 2014 on the fees he is being paid

Does this bother any Guns n roses fans?
