  1. http://mistersaintlaurent.proboards.com/thread/10998/proof-slash-duff-lied-signing

Have a look at what really happened!

Includes the document of when they signed the rights to the name. Different dates, and they were not on tour, Which proves their version of the whole contract thing "signed under duress" and "Axl wouldn't play" theory complete horseshit.

You can't blame Axl for the break up just because it took so many years for Axl to release the new Guns Record. You don't know what happened behind the scenes, you don't know how much pressure Axl was in. You don't know what kind of strategy the record label was doing to try reunite him with the old guys. Rejecting albums, negotiations etc etc etc

Do you have any idea how much times the album was rejected by the record company (because for them, it didn't sound like a Classic Guns Record?). How much times do you think band members had to re-do their parts because they "needed" to make a more rock n' roll sounding record or because members would be out frustrated with the negotiations with the label, that wouldn't allow a release.

Do you know what kind of living hell Axl went through in all those court cases/lawsuits, while S and M tried to get the name back, tried to force a settlement for a reunion?

It's funny but that's what generally people don't look at. They just wanna go for the simple answer... hey Axl is a perfectionist and he's sick, or hey he proscrinated everything because he got rich and very lazy, or because he's crazy and bi-polar...

And when REAL FACTS come to the table, people just don't wanna believe in them, because they've been so corrupted with whatever story is going on from other versions or sometimes with their own stubborn line of thinkin', that i bet after this post, after Axl's version is proven to be the truth, there will still be people trying to protect Riad and his Bedouins and trying to come up with excuses to blame Axl for everything, just because he's not as active as people would like him to be.

Axl had the legal right to take the GNR name. Slash and Duff had the legal right to sue Axl and raise hell for him. If Axl didn't want legal troubles, he should not have quit the partnership and taken the name. If Slash and Duff were lying in interviews and books, Axl should have sued them for slander and libel.

The record company was correct in rejecting CD so many times. It doesn't sound like GNR. Axl could have avoided all these problems by using a different name.

  2. Dinner with Slash? What?

A year or two ago DJ claimed that he had dinner with Slash. That's the whole story though, nobody knows if it's true or not. Considering that it's DJ, my money is on not.

It's plausible. DJ is friends with Nikki Sixx. Slash is friends with Nikki Sixx. DJ is a fan of Real Guns. DJ has been photographed with Slash.

  3. Haven't read the thread but Marc Canter has posted about Axl's sensitivity, even mentioning phone calls where Axl screams at him in anger due to a misunderstood quote from an interview. I think this is the point, the issue, not so much what Slash has said but how Axl interpreted it, how he deals with it.

So why the hell does everyone have to pussyfoot around Axl because he misunderstands something? I'm sorry, but in the real world this doesn't happen as much as it does to him, and he seems to feel some sort of entitlement to act like a baby when it does.

I think it's fair to say he's troubled.

but I find it fascinating tbh.

    .

He is, but the man is now over 50 years old. He's not a child. It seems that whenever Axl yells at someone, its for a misunderstanding, and then he refuses to let them explain their side of the story. Its like some ridiculous sitcom where the audience has to watch when they know someone isn't hearing the whole story. But thats a sitcom and thats someone writing things to go that way. This is real life, yet for some reason no one can seem to speak to Axl and say "man, you got it all wrong", let alone yell at HIM because he freaked out over something he knew nothing about.

He's over halfway done with his life, yet he acts the way I did at 12 years old. I just don't get why everyone just lets that happen.

Telling Axl that he is wrong results in an lifetime addition to the enemies list. The only people on Axl's side are the people who want a fat paycheck for doing nothing.

  4. I don't think he ever bad mouthed him, not even in his book...

I really think Slash and Axl both believe everything they say, however twisted in their heads and emotional in their hearts it might be.

It's called point of view, a perspective.

But even if an individual says something he really truly believes in, it doesn't make it automatically & universally true.

Truth doesn't exist, everyone has his own (and would stick to it forever to save face).

Yeah except Slash is not the only telling the same "truth" about Axl and what happened in Guns yet Axl is the only one pushing his version of the "truth".

You figure it is a conspiracy between Slash, Duff, Izzy, Steven, Matt, Niven, Zutaut and others telling similar stories to make Axl look bad? Really?

It's a conspiracy, and Axl is the fucking Serpico! :axl92:

  5. The biggest problem with GNR in the late 90s was that Axl didn't want to do anything. No tour, no album, no videos, nothing. WTF is up with that?

GNR could have released an album of Slash and Duff farting for 60 minutes and they would still make $100 million on a tour in 1996. Just look at Metallica and all their crappy albums (especially Lulu). Metallica is still a respected band and they never have to worry about money in this lifetime.

But for some reason Axl had to "take it to the next level" which apparently means sulking in his mansion for the prime years of his life and then sitting by as the most important members of his nu band quit.

  6. VR without Scott would be terrible. The frontman is so important to the band. Most of the VR songs have lyrics about Scott's personal issues like marriage, drugs, family etc. VR without Scott would always be doomed to be fake VR or nuVR. Major lineup changes almost never work - just look at Black Sabbath.

I like Brent Fitz' drumming better than Sorum's (especially on Appetite songs.) Finding a singer better than Myles is unlikely. Myles didn't want to join VR. Staying solo makes sense for Slash. Duff and Dave are nice but they sure aren't big draws for ticket sales.

  7. Holy shit, can't believe Fortus turned down Bowie. What the fuck for?!

Seriously - turning down Bowie for NewGNR is possibly the worst career move I can think of as a musician.

Guns is the biggest band in the world! Who would not want to tour with the world's last true rockstar? rock4

  8. People don't seem to understand the concept of 'household name'. It does not apply to Josh Freese.

The GNR/APC/connection is plausible, but false.

    Arnold Schwarzenegger leaked it.

Think about it....You Could Be Mine and Terminator 2. Oh My God and End of Days. Chinese Democracy and Terminator Salvation?

Arnold is a tech savvy guy. He posts on reddit and twitter. He's a good liar (covered up his affair and child for years.) He was the governor, he had plenty of power . He probably leaked the album on purpose to help Axl put pressure on the record company.

  9. "For me there hasn't been a way to make any type of reunion work regardless of money (either talk or legimate) without jeopardizing what I feel is the well-being and best interests of nearly everyone I'm involved with in the GNR camp (including myself). People here have big investments of their lives in what we're doing. We've worked so hard for what we have here now and continue to do so."

At least now people can understand why Team Brazil works so hard to keep him in the paranoid state he lives in.

They have worked hard to eradicate anyone from his life that might expose them as being the leeches they are. Sadly Axl doesn't realize this has been to his detriment, and is anything but helpful.

That bolded comment is proof positive they have him brain washed that it is Axl and Team Brazil against the world, and that only they and no one else could possibly have his best interest at heart.

He's like one of those people trapped in a cult that doesn't realize how crazy he has allowed his situation to become, and nothing can be done to alter the psychological hold team Brazil has on him. It is sad.

I wouldn't call Tommy Stinson (with Axl since 98), Fortus (since 2002), Pitman (1998) and Dizzy (1990) leeches. They are all pretty talented and would love to make GNR music. Axl doesn't want to make GNR music.

  10. Just reread the piece again.

The first half of the interview read very well but once the lateness and Slash was brought up it went a bit weird. It's interesting that Axl (to the best of my knowledge) never seems to attempt to understand Slash's motivations in a way that Slash (and Duff) have attempted to understand Axl's. Slash's motivation for doing the UYI tour, quitting the band and forging his own career to me seem to be based in a desire to remain productive, move forward and more recently probably stay sober and provide for his family, the same could be said of Duff.

It's as if Axl takes a very egocentric view of everything and doesn't quite get that people might have personal feelings and desires that are not connected to or derived from wanting to hurt him. As another poster said Slash will have wanted to tour in 91 because they were riding high on a wave of popularity and wanted to make the most of that yet to Axl he was an evil Svengali who wanted to break his mind, no offence to Slash but I don't think he is that clever.

It's great that he obviously has a lot of affection for the current band, I wish he would do them the honour of releasing something with them. Maybe if as he says he has limited interest in social media he doesn't realise how much this is needed to concrete the band in public. Explains though how BBF gets away with his rants, I bet they are never brought to Axl's attention.

I don't think the issue has anything to do with Axl not being willing to understand Slash and/or Duff's motivations for wanting to do things a certain way. However, I do believe that he takes serious issue with the fact that they both decided to *very publically* spread untruths about him. That's the root issue. Maybe if they were willing to right their wrongs Axl would be more open to conversation(s). Since they both refuse to be honest (Slash especially), I imagine that it's really difficult for Axl to think positive about individuals who have publically slandered him, sued him, and cost the man many years of his life and career.

If Slash and Duff lied, Axl should have sued them for slander and libel. He didn't - most likely because Axl knows he would have lost, just like he is losing the Activision lawsuit.

  11. Burgers, chicken and beer mmmmm sounds good! rock3

Lots of nutty stuff in there, like "Slash wanted the touring to get the better of me given my circumstances at the time." Wrong Axl. Slash wanted to tour to promote the UYI albums and capitalize on GNR's popularity at the time. The tour was incredibly successful. Axl didn't want to tour in 91, didn't want to tour in 96, played very little in 2001, failed to tour in 2002. The man has no concept of time and he doesn't realize that fame is fleeting, and he has wasted all the years of his peak fame and physical ability.

  12. I doubt it is Axl's fault. I'm guessing maybe the Devil aka Slash and his pal Michael sued poor innocent Axl over sync rights or some BS like that. Perhaps retribution against Axl for not letting Velvet Revolver sell DVDs with GNR songs? :takethat:
