The Apollo version is great example of modern rock song. Melissa is also great on this song, the outer space ambience synth was awesome, it's even has sound of spaceship takeoff right before Slash solo.

Any mention from Axl as to why he had the kinesiology tape on his arm? Must have pulled a muscle or something.
Frank use it too around his arm, they probably just trying new toy from Jordan.

Slash and Duff did not collaborate until VR and Matt was the drummer there because - and this bit is crucial - he instigated the whole thing. The only two members who played regularly together really until 2016 were McKagan and Stradlin, on Stradlin's solo albums. The rest is just a smattering of studio/live guest appearances and Izzy's live stints with Newgnr. Oh yes, the Snakepit thing, Slash, Matt, Gilby - and Dizzy surprisingly - but that was originally intended to be Guns.
When the band ended these people I believe wanted to distance themselves from Guns. Duff wanted to re-establish his punk credentials. Slash wanted to be in control of his bands and do hard rock. Rose wanted to do weird bleep albums with freaks. Etc.
PS
Gilby's solo album is one of the best for guests. Even Rose turns up. There is also the Outpatients song with Rose and Slash which when you think about it is probably the closest thing to a post Illusion (proper) Guns song.
Yeah, Matt is obvious leader of VR, he has that frontman attitude that's why he's clashed with Scott, that's also why he has no place on Guns reunion, being a such bland drummer he need to chill the fuck out. He at same totem pole level as Dizzy.
About Adler why Slash didn't utilize him more on his solo album, i believe he isn't that expensive and playing with long time buddy/guitar god would motivate him more. It will benefit Slash too, since at least Adler certainly bring more credibility.
It's lucky we have Slash and Izzy at Ghost otherwise it can easily be Slash and Fortus because Slash apparently trying to steal him too!
-
Adler had 25 years to prove himself worthy and or just being a better person, yet keep failing that resulting nobody want to works with him, Slash and Duff main choice was Matt the human drum machine, In 25 years span of their solo career how many song that Slash or Duff collabing with Adler together? It's just fucking two song right? One bonus song on Slash solo album about a bitch can't drive and one on Adler album. I believe Adler ain't that expensive. So why they never choose him?
Damn, even on that Slash solo album the main drummer itself was Axl's former mercenary Josh Freese! They missed huge ass chance to have Slash, Izzy, and Adler on song Ghost, imagine it would be better than any Chinese Democracy song with 150% more cowbell!
-
Even Pitoman had more writing credit than Adler.
Adler song where yo at?
-
Why everyone that always claim the big 3 screwing Izzy and Adler always forget that Izzy and Adler screw themselves too?
Well, i agree with Axl tho, keep trusting Adler seems like a big mistake, it's 25 years later and still nobody trusting Adler.

I don't know much about him.. I did buy one of his CD's early on when Axl first came out from under his rock and I was still interested in what he was going to do with NuGuns.. I think the band was called Princess? I remember liking it at the time but haven't listened to it in over 15 years.. I think it even said Josh Freese from Guns N' Roses on the CD.
He's the drummer on Slash first solo album, before Slash going with lame ass SMKC route.

I think he probably lack budget to bring better backup band.

I am sure he is great and I said he would be an upgrade over the current drummer.. I was following NuGnR early on and thought brain did a fine job.
Also in a band like GnR being more technically skilled doesn't necessarily make you a better fit for the band..
Yeah but he was doing very good job at GNR, when clearly Axl still run this band, there's no way he's gonna bring back a ticking bomb unreliable manchild like Adler or douchebags like Sorum (lol Slash and Duff prolly had cut their own wages to pay Sorum because Axl won't pay him).
Besides, in the past Axl already trying to bring Brain back but Brain had to refuse because he didn't want to hurt Frank, he still lingering in the studio handling CD remix album, don't forget Melissa recruitment also seems suggested by him, he even present on Vegas day 1 reunion, so his good relationship with Axl will playing major role if something happened to Frank.

Was never a fan of NuGnR but Brain would be miles above the current one. Any of these would be a huge improvement.
Adler
Sorum
Brent Fitz
Tommy Lee
and even BrainDude just look up random YouTube video about Brain playing drum, it will make all your proposed candidates looks like amateur.
-
If something happened to Frank, I'll bet Axl gonna bring back the best drummer that GNR ever had..
Brain Mantia.

"What the fuck he's doing here?"
That's the answer why he ain't there.

Even after a year+ of touring we are still talking about cash grab? If I could sold out stadium every 2 nights, and as bonus, having fun on stage with my old pals, I would do it
This basically just like Baz answer regarding cash grab.

Look at the Apollo recording, Slash seems like really gives a shit about this song though, it's seems like he spend more time brainstorming the solo for this song more than any other CD song.
The solo were mean as hell, thundering bass line from Duff were marvelous, and outer space ambience from Melissa were great, there was sound of spaceship takeoff right before Slash solo lmao.
The only complaint is the presence of Axl backing tracks, he should let Duff or Dizzy shout it. Other than that, it's very great example of modern rock song.

Shining is subjective. I don't think he shines. I think the songs would be better off without him. Of course that is just my opinion
It's okay if you prefer without him, i'm just feel he doing really great despite he actually just traditional pianist not some prog keyboardist like cortini, rudess, or sherinian. The piano/drum combination after the breakdown of Locomotive is iconic though.

So still.. wtf the meaning of real "GNR sound"? It is just the old line line up play something then it's considered the real "GNR sound"?

How tf it's almost 30 years and people still hate Dizzy, I knew he didn't play on Axl centered tunes like NR or Estranged, but dude ironically shine on Slash and Izzy song like Locomotive, PTU, and Bad Obsession.
Also wtf the meaning of real GNR sound? AFD sound? That so called GNR sound died instantly the moment UYI album comes, NR is the most viewed youtube GNR video up there and Estranged constantly voted as the best GNR song, and both ain't sounding like anything on AFD, RQ and Estranged both are the best song from respective album yet they don't sound like each other, so really wtf the definition of this mythological bullshit called "GNR sound"? I'm fucking glad though they moved to different direction on UYI because if not the album probably gonna be filled with AFD wannabe stupid as shit song like Shotgun Blues.

London join GNR is worst than Paul Tobias case tho, even more so because if anything happen to Frank there's already at least 3 world class drummer ready to replace him, Adler would be pissed as hell if that happen, it would stupid as shit to turn GNR to family based band like VH.
Even London band name already describe that scenario perfectly, it's a goddamn "classless act".
-
This is clearly jump-start marketing for London's band and it's success because everyone got baited.

Why was Izzy's amp unplugged during the '91 UYI tour?

On European leg Axl had to apologize that the bands didn't move a lot because of slippery after rain stage. Axl still had that mindset.
Izzy had follow to Fortus step, he's right now donning bandage boots because of stress fracture on rehearsal but when showtime come he still doing his ballet and whirlwind dance while running around.
You can't simply stand around your mic on stage that huge, audio isn't the only one important aspect of the show, you had to perform with spirit to fill visual aspect of the show.
