  1. You do realize it's only a rock n roll band, right?

So? You could say that about basically anything people choose to tattoo..

There is not a single explanation that could deem getting a large hybrid Jesus-Axl tattoo as a rational move by an adult.

If you can't see the difference between getting a fanatical tattoo like that versus a regular tattoo showing your interest in a band then I guess there's no reason to even discuss this with you.

Awwwww, and I got it done just for you :-(

Let me guess, you're American right?

  2. So many people have tattoos these days you actually are "different" if you don't have them now.

Tattoos have been around for a long time but over the past 15 years or so there has been an explosion of people, particularly women, getting them solely because some celebrity got one. It has become fashionable to do this and as we all know, fashion dies but style lasts forever. Unfortunately so do tattoos.

20 years from now there's going to be a fuckload of middle aged fat people waddling around covered in disgusting faded tattoos.

I flat out refuse to date any chick with a tattoo.

    Pretty much this.

It's become more about fashion than actual meaning.

Like I said, a tattoo needs to be no more meaningful than its what the person wanted. Trouble, is, people watch Miami Ink and think every tattoo needs a heartfelt monologue to be valid...

Ok, so what does the Axl tat mean to you? Seriously.

When your kids or grandkids ask you about it, what's your explanation going to be?

In all seriousness, I just got a kick out of the image, and have been a GNR fan for so long, knew it wasn't a whim or any kind of risk... - I have a fair few other tattoos, some have much deeper meanings, some don't.

I don't see the "what will they look like"/"what will people think" thing as any kind of issue, as when I'm old, I'll probably look like crap anyway regardless of whether I have tattoos, and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks - I have to live with them, no-one else.

  3. That's the risk you take when getting any tattoo. By that logic, all tattoos are for fourteen year old girls.

Military tattoos and portraits of deceased loved ones truly mean something. Every one and their grandmother has a tattoo these days so yeah, tattoos are pretty much becoming a teeny fad.

You're clearly right, a centuries old practise is clearly a teeny fad...

There are many great reasons for getting tattoos, each as individual as the person getting them. I also see nothing wrong with getting a particular for no other reason than you think it looks cool - the only person who should care, is the person getting it.

I got the Axl/Jesus tattoo as I just got a kick out of it, have been a Guns fan for over 20 years, and knew my artist would nail it.

    Each to their own :-)

  4. Do any of you know for a fact or have proof that BBF wasn't talking about Fernando? Sounds to me like he was talking smack.

I'm curious to see how Axl is going to handle the situation. BBF's probably gone ...

Burden of proof is on the accuser. Which is you. And you know nothing.

  5. Axl uses a Shure SM58 vocal microphone (with red foam).

Is there really any singer who uses a different mic for live shows?

Pretty sure it's a Beta 87A. At least I know it used to be. Yes. Singers who can afford higher end mics but like SM58s use Beta 87As. They're just the upgraded, pro version, whereas the SM58 is more like a backline mic

An SM58 isn't a backline mic, that's the SM57 (I assume by backline, you mean cabs).

I was pretty sure he was using a 58Beta wireless too, not the 87...

  6. The few times I've met him he was warm and engaging, came across as a genuinely nice guy. The trouble is, all these guy in and around the band are meeting loads of people who are getting a narrow snapshot of their personality.

  7. i'm surprised nobody on facebook asked bumblefoot about blood in the water or when the next record is coming out. or if new guns n roses songs "unheard" like blood will be played on the tour

What's the point? BBF has made it clear in the past that it's not his place to discuss new music.

the point is there hasn't been clarification from BBF or GNR on Blood in the Water. or if a new guns n roses record is coming during the tour. after the tour. or if new songs will be played on the tour. i'd like if fans had a discussion about it with BBF or someone in the GNR camp

It's always been the case that when there's something to announce/discuss, then it will be. Until then, external pressures such as leaks (real or fake) don't necessarily force them to give a "state of the nation". Whether you agree with it or not, it's how it is.

  8. We talked about it last night, Richard said it was just an original composition the guys thought was cool so they decided to change things up a little bit. He said it was his tribute to the band Cactus... the conversation spiralled a bit there and ended up being about the Bumblefoot song Cactus.

lol is he familiar with the BBF discography ?

I doubt many people know about this song...I mean, it's a hidden track on a BBF album.

If the company of tumbleweed is unexpected fun...you're a cactus. :D

If you're green and have no spleen....

    :D :D

  9. I have no idea why he decided not to go, just pointing out misgivings shown before Axl's decision. People are quick to make their own negative conclusions based on their own predjudice, when just like me, they have no clue.

For what it's worth, my OPINION, is that he probably was open to going, but as it got closer, and it became clearer how the whole thing was likely to go down, he decided descrecition was the better part of valour. I don't blame him - would probably have done the same.

I don't disagree with you I'm just saying that the people who say it had nothing to do with Axl are naive.

Fom what I read in Slash's book, the rest of Gn'R (minus Axl) were pretty shabby to Dizzy when he joined, and him attending alone may have been somewhat awkward.

Whether this would have had any influence on his decision, I don't know. What I am pretty sure of, is the suggestion that in someway Axl would have leant on him not to go is ridiculous, everything we have heard from current and recent members is that they are left to conduct themselves as they please. There is a fantasy on these boards about gagging orders and bizarre contracts stopping members doing as they wish - for which I have seen no evidence. I think sometimes people see respect and taking sensible responsibility for your words of actions, out of context. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what the truth is, as rumour, conjecture and sensationalism is far more interesting.
