  1. I seem to remember, that when this clip first surfaced - the leaker was trying to negotiate or even blackmail Guns management (sound familiar???), the clip was released as a "fuck you, I've got what I claim I have" kinda thing, and the title of "Checkmate" was meant as a reference to having the upper hand in any negotiations, I don't think it was ever meant to refer to the title of the track.

That's how I took it anyway, could be miles out.

  2. It's as magical now, as ever. I never thought I'd see it played live again, the guys have exceeded all expectation and Axl sounds awesome, superb job :-)

Oh and by the way, who says Axl doesn't care about his fans? There was a pretty visible online campaign to get this played at Rio and beyond, seems he doesn't have the contempt some would have you believe.

  3. I saw Chris' band Sextapes in LA a couple of years back - was a very good show :-)

I don't see the problem with a poster saying "Chris Pitman of Guns N Roses", seeing as his name is Chris Pitman and he's in a band called Guns N Roses :shrugs:

  4. I am happy the site is still going, but this whole saga has been a litttle perplexing and has disappointed many potential suitors, including Subsy.

I find it peculiar that Invision did not close down the website when they were due to. They are renowned for their ruthlessness.

I hope this was not an exercise to raise funds.

The manner in which this has all gone down is concerning - stating a moral stand regarding the bands conduct along side financial issues, then doing a 180 when some cash is forthcoming makes you wonder how important the moral issues were all along.

When all is said and done, I'm glad that a way for the site to continue was found, though it may have been preferable for some new blood to offer a new approach.

  5. I've been fortunate to meet other members of MyGNR at a few shows. Made some long term friends and had a real laugh at bars and venues around the world.

It's sad that it has come to this, and that the passion to continue has been lost - not sure the blame can be fairly squared as this needs to come from within, and if there, would not be extinguished from external sources. Though I appreciate we don't know the full facts, so I'll leave it there...

Thanks to everyone that has contributed over the years - hope to keep in touch with the true friends I have made through this place. I would also like to wish Eric and his moderation team all the best for the future.

  6. I always assumed it was the difference in distance between pyro at the rear of the stage - and front of house sound reaching you at different times...

I don't think sound travels that slow!

It does, relative to light anyway - this is why the bloom from the pyro hits way before the sound, and that people near the back of the venue are regularly convinced the singer is miming!!!

You gotta remember, GnR play HUGE stages, and the distances involved between back of stage and the front of house PA (which often hangs way out front of the stage) are large. I'm not saying that this accounts for all of the delay though, which seems pretty intentional - but it's certainly a factor.

  7. I was at Aalborg last night and Axl's voice was immense all night. This I Love was a vocal masterclass.

Using Youtube clips from the little mic on the phone of a person surrounded by lots of other noise is no way to judge a singers performance. When you attend shows from this band you will hear things in the performance you never knew were there.

They are fucking outstanding live, in performance, technicality and soul.

  8. I have no hate for either side, and can't really understand the bystanders that do.

Both sides have given me a lot of enjoyment with their music over the years.

It's a bit like hearing the particulars of someone elses divorce, I'm sure it's agony for them, and I can have empathy for the struggles, but ultimately it isn't me dealing with the pain. I kinda don't feel qualified or entitled to vigorously argue in either direction.

I don't feel manipulated, as I don't put enough stock into it for it to have effected me, doesn't really matter to me as it's someone else's personal business.

I can have a personal opinion on who's side I might find more likely, but unless you were there it's impossible to be 100% certain. Also, although there can be no middle ground when it comes to facts, I'm sure there are subtleties to situations that various parties can have different perspectives on.

  9. I have so say a big well done all around.

Reading the threads at HTGTH, MYGNR and CD.com the last couple of days has been fantastic. I'm extremely impressed not only with the Admins, Moderators and Axl for the hard work involved, but the way the fans have handled themselves in these threads.

It's long been thought that if Axl turned up on these boards, the users would be uncontrollable and cause offense to him, and embarrassment to the rest of us. This turned out to be completely unfounded, there has been healthy respect in both directions and the resulting discussions and communication I think has been a very positive experience for all involved.

Well, I dunno about the controlled part. Today's thread was locked on page 37 within 20 minutes of activity. It was fast anyway, after yelling at them to stop posting, renaming the thread, and that not working... "LOCKED". Only Axl and Fernando, oh and mods, could respond.

I think perhaps the guys at CD.com had the benefit of hindsight, and were able to add a little structure to the proceedings. It lost a little of the spontaneity of the event, but made it a lot easier to see the thread of responses.

Unfortunately, due to the volume of users asking questions, there's no way everyone can get their Q's asked/answered, so perhaps the lock with Axl answering in order was the best way. By the time it was locked there where already hundreds of Q's asked, and Axl seemed to be methodically going through them in order, so there was no point new ones being asked anyway!

  11. When I saw the band Live they NAILED that song, it was fantastic... exept Bumblefoot, he was terrible, terrible

When the solo came, he just shredded like a pig, I swear it was horrible, he sounded like a machine, he was out of key, out of tune, out of rythm, just pure pointless shredd.

This guy is really the biggest desapointment of the year

That's a really good point, why don't you bring it up repeatedly in every fuckin' thread?

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but I'd like to see yours a little better constructed and supported.

  12. I haven't heard any rumours about Bumblefoot leaving, please tell?

There aren't any credible ones. Just some wishful thinking from a certain section of the "fan"base.

It was pointed out earlier in this thread, and it's the most pertinent point, Ron came on board a few days before the first gig. He should not be judged by the Hammerstien and early euro gigs, as he was just feeling his way in. That being said, he still did a stunning job considering how new to the material he was.

Also you cannot judge any of the guys by Youtube links or the RIR/Inland webcasts. If you've seen the band live this year you'll know that it's no comparison to online reproductions.

If any of you have taken the time to check out Ron's solo stuff, you will know he a fantastic songwriter, with a great voice as well as his truly stellar guitar work. His albums are a great combination of catchy pop, driving rock and a side serving of geeky technical guitar work for those that are that way inclined. But the point is you don't have to be. Through his involvement in Guns, i have discovered his solo work, and if he left tomorrow, I'd still be proud to be a Bumblefan.

  13. If you see live videos, sometime the audio and video can be out of sync. Some people misunderstand this and think that it's lip sync

Yep, that's true. Youtube is the worst offender, the audio always ends up way out of sync.

Even when physically at the gig, you can get some slight lag between the screens and the audio, this can have different degrees depending on where you are in the arena too!
