  1. Lucas has been waffling for decades on whether there were 12, 9, or 6 movies.

From Once Upon a Galaxy: A Journal of the Making of The Empire Strikes Back...George Lucas interview Monday, May 29 1979:

Alan Arnold: Tell me more about the overall concept of the Star Wars saga.

George Lucas: There are essentially nine films in a series of three trilogies. The first trilogy is about the young Ben Kenobi and the early life of Luke's father when Luke was a little boy. This trilogy takes place some twenty years before the second trilogy which includes Star Wars and Empire. About a year or two passes between each story of the trilogy and about twenty years pass between the trilogies. The entire saga spans about fifty-five years...After the success of Star Wars I added another trilogy but stopped there, primarily because reality took over. After all, it takes three years to prepare and make a Star Wars picture. How many years are left? So I'm still left with three trilogies of nine films. At two hours each, that's about eighteen hours of film!

AA: What will the next chapter be?

GL: The next chapter is called "Revenge of the Jedi." It's the end of this particular trilogy, the conclusion of the conflict begun in Star Wars between Luke and Darth Vader. It resolves that situation once and for all. I won't say who survives and who doesn't, but if we are ever able to link together all three you'd find the story progresses in a very logical fashion.

BTW, if you haven't read Once Upon a Galaxy: A Journal of the Making of The Empire Strikes Back, grab it immediately. It will become your favorite "making of" book ever, because it's not sanitized by Lucasfilm/Disney. It has all the raw reporting from the set a book like this should have, including Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher fighting, and Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher fighting!

  2. I agree that TFA is a better overall film than ROTS. But ROTS does have more epic moments, in the grand scheme of things anyways. So they are close for me, but I do give the nod to TFA, but it's not WAY better imo, just slightly. If Lucas had executed the prequels differently, than ROTS would be and should be better than TFA, but as it stands TFA doesn't have any real flaws imo, I can't say the same about ROTS.

I still stand by my early assertions, I believe TFA is an 8.2/10 and ROTS is an 8/10. They are very close imo, and yes I prefer all of the light saber battles from ROTS over Rey vs Ren except for Obi wan vs Anakin (that one goes on far too long, and is a little goofy). But the other 3 from Sith are pretty epic imo. The first time I saw Sith and it pretty much opens with Dooku vs Anakin, that was awesome. The dropping the landing on Obi Wan is poorly done, I admit that, but the actual fight between Anakin and Dooku is top notch.

It makes no sense. You assumed that a republic would be established with Return of the Jedi, some sort of governance and tranquility, yet you are just plunged immediately into a rebellion v something called the first order. Has this just popped up or has it been something ongoing since the end of Jedi?

I have a feeling all of this will be addressed in the future films. They dileberarly left a lot of unaswered questions, which is a good thing imo. Why do we have to know EVERYTHING all at once?

It's just like Robot Chicken addressed. Sure Death Star 2 blown up, Emperor and Vader dead. But there's still an Empire out there. Or the remnants of one. It just doesn't pop all over the galaxy like a helium balloon and disappear.

  3. I guess I'm missing the boat on what makes RotS such a good movie. I like it, but it's still dull and has some of the most cringeworthy moments in all of SW. I know TFA has a lot of fan service, but it's still done properly with a few context issues. RotS is a mess that makes light of the Force several times, has some of the worst love/romance scenes in cinematic history, has horrendous special effects, and then there's the dialogue. Some of these things can be overlooked and I can get on board with Anakin's thirst for power. But his character accelerates from a little bitch (and I'm not talking about Episode I) to killing children and being apprentice to a Sith in like an hour.

I don't know. I think I missed something. It's a 5/10 at best. Has some really cool parts, but that's really it. TFA is already way ahead of it.

Anakin killed children before; in AOTC. He was already a monster before ROTS.

  4. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I kinda don't like douchy Ash. I mean, it fits the character, but kind of seems out of place now that he's become blue shirt wearing Ash again.

Will Raimi and co. re-imagine Army Of Darkness since they can't borrow from the original movie? Does Ash still appear in the Necronomicon like he did in ED2?

  5. February 14.

Negan was mentioned, but not seen.

I thought the season finale went slow and too many commercials. Too many loose ends except for one.

Most of the shit that happened wasn't a surprise except what happened with Abraham, Sasha and Daryl. Now I know why they never got there.

The Talking Dead didn't say anything about the new season or when Negan would make his appearance, so who knows?

I guess after last night's episode you can see the writers aren't following the comics much at all, which is fine with me.

The episode I watched ended as they walked into the crowd of walkers. When was Negan mentioned? And when was the fate of Darryl and co shown?

  6. Would you guys be disappointed in the Negan character if he didn't kill Glen or another character as portrayed in the comic? Remember The Governor raped Michonne, then Michonne went medieval on him with her sword. But that didn't occur in the TV show.

He didn't rape Michonne. They fought and she knocked over his collection of heads and killed his daughter and then she escaped.

I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but I don't want him to kill any of the original characters. I know his character kills Glenn in the comic, but I really hope the writers change that for the tv show.

I have a feeling next season is going to be crazy with Rick and company fighting humans more than zombies.

    Read carefully, Val.

  7. Marc, have you ever thought of putting a panel together for a convention about the making of "Recklesss Road", and bring those stored books to be sold there?

I was at this year's Stan Lee Comikaze Expo in L.A. with my paranormal documentary and panel. I wasn't sure if they would accept something in the paranormal genre, but there wwere 5 other panels on the subject. Bruce Kulick (former KISS member) was there, and I believe Zakk Wylde was there as well.

  8. Something else related to the "Revenge" titie from this article.

July 1982: Starlog reports that Star Trek II has been renamed, as to not conflict with "Revenge of the Jedi."

Paramount Pictures has changed the name of "Star Trek: The Vengeance of Khan" to "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan." The change, which came in early April, was made to avoid confusing the audience between the second "Star Trek" feature film and the third chapter of George Lucas' "Star Wars" series, "Revenge of the Jedi." The "Trek" film's original title was "Star Trek: The Genesis Project" which was almost immediately redubbed "Star Trek II."

  9. A radical idea was brought up in the other thread. What if the entire prequel trilogy was "de-canonized", and remade by Disney? Some ideas:

Retain Darth Maul as the bad guy in all 3 movies

We meet Anakin as a teen, already using a bastardized version of the Force.

    No Qui-Gon Jinn. Only Kenobi.

No Jar Jar. No Jango Fett.

Palpatine has a bigger role. No ambiguity about where the clones came from. Perhaps have Palpatine kill his master.

No lightsabers for Yoda or Palpatine.

    Other than that. Free slate.

One more thing regarding a prequel remake: Have Anakin be the stick in the ass uber Jedi, with Padme in love with him instead. That would fit the Vader character better.
