  1. What's with all the sudden talking of Slash leaving and hypothesis of a Slashless future....have I missed a titbit from a recent interview or something? I think Slash seems content, he is able to do his SMKC AND solo album work as well as GNR, GNR aren't putting much out but there's something which is better than nothing...why would he leave? GNR if not the most creative of his endeavours,.it's certainly the one that brings home the bacon...

  2. You need to learn to put some effort in....

I wonder if some of the Axl vocals from AFD from '99 (or whatever) was used for the Live Era release.

Well Sweet Child "Big Daddy" is all we've officially gotten from that, right? Wonder where in the world the locker that contains those cd-r's are....

There are legal documents affirming that they're partners. Also, for what it's worth (or not), Fernando has also referred to them as partners. So, what we know for certain, is that they're not employees ("well paid" or not), officially and legally.

The details we don't know are the terms and conditions of the current partnership, e.g. whether it's a continuation/amendment of the 1992 partnership or there are different stipulations regarding touring, merchandise, releases, etc.

Yes...and whatever it is...probably one of the big sticking points was not going back to how it was when they left....so returning more as an equal probably was a huge aspect of getting back together...

You don’t really believe Axl told Slash what to play on those leftovers. Duff and Slash erased all existing bass and guitar tracks and contributed their own parts on songs that most likely wouldn’t have been released by now, if it weren’t for those two. Slash can’t force Axl to go into a studio or write new material but I really think they’re way more involved in every other process and in decision making than a lot of people here might think

Yes....while not perfect, look we got superdeluxes of Appetite and Illusions...would never of happened pre-'16

Absurd, Hard Skool, Perhaps, and The General. Plus Monsters will come. I don't think it is that crazy to assume they did 3-5 more to make a short LP's worth. I can see them slapping them together with a cover and selling them as a 12 inch record through their online store. I'd definitely buy it, Shit, you could even throw on some live tracks which they already did with the Hard Skool singles (Absurd and Shadow of Your Love and even Don't Cry and You're Crazy with the CD, right?)

What you state is something I could get on board with

...and we've discussed a few times over the last year or so....hoping they put some kinda product out to match what we would be satisfied with, one of these days 🤞

  5. Do we think at this point, Slash has done the majority of his job, regarding the "next" GNR album? As in, the rate he works at, I'm sure he's recorded a few albums worth of songs banked for that (if it ever comes) day....now obviously it be nice to make it all together organically but TBH, not too dissimilar to the band members all going away and turning up with their contributions UYI style....so I imagine, Slash is desperate for Axl to give the green light or collaborate but I do get a good vibe and tone of Slash's responses to LP questions and while of course if he knew it wasnt coming, he may still be vague BUT there's a certain tone to the answer he often gives that always sounds knowingly optimistic...yet slightly frustrated...Everything has been fairly accurate, albeit in John Woo slow-mo...so Slash will fully be expecting to record stuff whenever he gets going woth Guns again and if bes not, he'll be wrong and disappointed....as he did say at least twice, specifically this was "the plan"

So I wouldn't be surprised if the band had banked a few dozen demo riffs/song outlines and that Axl has at the very least listened to them and given feedback or put away for a rainy day! Thoughts?

I think that we'll go on to write some very interesting things with Richard and he's already done some rhythm work and some leads on the album, [...] but it's time to stop [adding new songs] now and wrap up the baby.." (Axl, GNROnline, 08/15/02)

"It feels right, the timing, and a lot of things. We've sorted it down to what songs are on the record. What the sequence of the songs is. The album cover art is ready. Blah, blah, blah. If you're waiting...don't. [...] Now that we feel that we have clarity as to the album we're trying to make, we're wrapping it up.'" (Axl, GNROnline, 08/15/02)

This is a collaborative effort with the players, but the players aren't exactly sure what it should be to try to win over the world Guns N' Roses style. So that's kind of my responsibility. It took a long time, but now it's working, and I think we'll have the right record, and when we do drop the record, the plan is to drop the record, have a bunch of extra tracks, about a year or so down the road drop another record and drop a third record. This is a three-stage thing and we'll be touring for a real long time." (Axl, WRIF, 11/21/02)

    W. Axl Rose is concerned that not only will their audience be misled into believing that the planned compilation is an authorized release, but that it will hinder the release of the band's long awaited new studio album Chinese Democracy." (Sanctuary Group, press release, 03/15/04)

"Rather than dwelling on the negative, Guns will be moving forward and surprisingly (without giving away any details) this unfortunate set of circumstances may have given us the opportunity to take our recording that one extra step further. [...] We greatly appreciate Bucket's contributions and remain open to "discussions" as there are obviously several issues to resolve." (Axl, press release, 03/30/04)

    Well....that bit was accurate

won't know until you hear the full version of cd ll from 2008 technically speaking

I suppose one day we'll know

....just about outliving Axl potentially....Team Brazil will bleed us dry when all the tour money dries up in Axl's afterlife. If Axl doesn't get to it...I think we can revist these points and questions 10 years from now and see if we have some A's to the Q's. 🤞

    Interview with Slash, released today:

You brought out two Guns N’ Roses singles last year, The General and Perhaps. Do you think there is a chance of a new Guns N’ Roses album?

Slash: I don’t know exactly when. I definitely think there will be. I find Guns N’ Roses very hard to pin down to a date, but there will be one coming in the foreseeable future.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/music/2024/03/25/slash-i-always-enjoy-coming-to-dublin-it-is-exciting-when-it-is-the-first-gig-on-the-run/

(I know people are going react to this in the same way they did to what Duff said in the recent interview, but it had to be shared, for informational purposes at least.)

Our problem since Nov 2008! Slash finally confirms Axl IS GNR after all then 😸

  8. Hypothetical here...Axl dies tonight (sorry Ax!)....huge Interest for the next year or so in GNR's history and what was in the vault....(a la any major dead artist)...Would Duff and Slash put out a bunch of songs they've worked on and release the album we want, Frankensteined but an album all the same...there would be an interest and somewhat demand for it...as in death, most often you have sales like your prime again for a minute....look at the charts the 12 weeks post Mj's death, he held almost every position in the top 10....

So Duff and Slash being doers, would want to mark his passing and the band...

Who would be in charge though? Surely they'd (should) have more say than Fernando and co if that happened? 🤷‍♀️

Thoughts? It could happen one day...

    Completely agree.

Allow me to strongly doubt it. But let's hope GN'R release an album or EP of covers, so we can find out

Of course i'd rather an original kickass album...but my realistic mind says, a covers LP is much more doable and viable for Axl...I also think doing one could be a stepping stone to getting back in the habit, so to speak....also when they're in that environment, maybe a few original ideas could and would blossom, i'm not one of those that think Axl has lost it, or isn't capable....it's just an apathy thing...he could and can still find it again if the right circumstances arrive. The single releases is something, we gotta hope they get the last few out in the next year or so and then hit those "crossroads" ...i will still have lingering hope until the end of this decade that something better will arrive....🤞

Apologies if this is old news (in which case - mods feel free to move / delete this) but it was new news to me and a quick search couldn't find anything on this topic.

Steven Wilson said on Insta today that he remixed AFD in Atmos but it will never be released as the band decided they don't like Atmos.

I new about his UYI work but not AFD.

Damn shame. I'd love to hear that. SW is a legend musically and his mixes are normally outstanding.

So weird....if they got him to do Appetite for probably the big box in 2018, then didn't like it and shelf'd it, why the fuck did they get him to do UYI years later too, to repeat the hoarding... also not to release....classic Guns memory lapse....*Oh Shit! We just wasted $$$....*Axl, remember we don't like that ATMOS shir*

Well, I do believe CD2 was in "final form" as in ready to be released around the time the 2008 album was. It's more of a matter of did NITL touch it or not? I don't think they worked on Hard Skool, Absurd, Perhaps, The General, and Monsters because they needed to be finished, rather, they just wanted their playing on it since they are currently in the band.

Who knows....wish we had more insider and less speculation sometimes....

The Steven question was answered with that video interview Blackstar posted, Steven was only in the studio randomly and not invited as a guest singer, he just wanted in on the song once he heard it, he was never planned to be on anything.

It's funny and strange after seeing Axl and Angus, we get the opposite crossover universe of Brian with Slash

Wasn't Brian a bit down on Axl and reductive on his merits when Ax replaced him....was that just the heightened emotions of the moment or does he have beef with Axl?

Axl on the other hand, makes it well known it's the Bon DC he's a fan of....

He has been working on Aero remasters, so perhaps that's what he was doing, or ST solo 2?

I guess you're right it would be cool if he was the full time harmonica player for the album, from the press release we know the Iggy Pop song also has some on it. Still kind of a bummer, maybe this was recorded when his voice was still injured since last fall so he couldn't do it

Wasn't this album announced before then? I suspect it was mostly done before the GNR June '23 tour...
