I was thinking about opening a thread about the reunion, some weeks later.

Yes, it's unbelievable that in some month Axl and Slash will share the same stage again.

But the thing that most catches my attention right now is the lack of press, and the anticlimatic promotion to motherfucking reunited GNR. Maybe I'm being impatient but they're once again turning a major event into something that looks painful for them, like the release of Axl's solo record Chinese Democracy.

It's like reunion is the "R word" for them. They're all completely silent. Frank, Dizzy and Fortus are on board for a super mysterious adventure, which obviously is working for GNR this year. Why being so secrective? Once again, hopefully things will move on and I'm just being too anxious.

GNR's latest tweet is pathetic. Once again the 'us against the world' mentality. Seriously, fuck off with that attitude!

Duff and Slash are being very respectful and playing by Axl/TB's rules, how long will that last?

Axl, Beta, guys... you're just a rock n' roll band, no need for this Area 51 strategy. I thought that the WTTJ teaser before Star Wars was part of some great marketing campaign but things seem to have returned to regular GNR/Axl approach. Silence, people out ta get him and trying to get attention at his expense. Pathetic.

I'm in shock about it but for kind of a bad reason, as I agree with most of the above.

At this point, I see absolutely nothing that says this isn't 100% about the money which shocks me. I didn't think any of them would do something like this just for the money, so that's what shocks me. I'd love to be wrong and may still be proven to be so. We'll see what happens I guess, but that angle of it takes a LOT of the fun out of it for me.

I would love to get an inkling of how they feel approaching the first show, especially Axl.

I assume it's quite nerve racking and a lot of pressure but then again I've never been in that position so I don't know really. They might be hugely excited but I can't help thinking it might be a bit like booking a charity bungee jump for a couple months down the line then spending the intervening time going FUCK I've got jump off a massive bridge with everyone watching and I can't bottle it....but then you do it, the adrenaline kicks in and it's a great achievement.

I hope he's practicing he's moves in front of the mirror and his vocals in the shower.

    Hell YEAH!!!
  2. Yeah exactly. Maybe some Europeans just don't like it because once again America got it right..?

On a side note, the vip packages look appealing.

No. You don't. At least in Europe everyone gets a shot at front row and doesn't have to pay hundreds of dollars to scalpers because you couldn't get the front row ticket. You stand in line for an hour or two, run a bit and are in front. Also you can move to the left or right to see something and don't risk having to stand behind a 6 ft 5 guy blocking your view. There is nothing good about seated floor unless you're lucky enough to get that front row ticket, which still costs you several times as much as the usual standing, unless it's in Vegas, of course. Looking forward to Europe. Front row for 90 $.

Even cheaper. In 2006 I paid 50 euro fan pit ticket, in 2010 around 40 (I could touch the fence) and in 2012, 30 euro festival ticket.

Well, you are from Serbia (?) and we have cheaper tickets here than anywhere else

Јер тако смо у могућности. :shades:

Countries in our region have similar ticket prices, but we might have cheapest, not sure.

    Tako je!
Vuhuuuu, ima nas dosta znaci! Paracin ovde :D

Ima, nego sta! Pozdrav za Paracin! :D

    I'm sorry.

I'm from Paracin too but I don't live there last 7 years :P

Yeah, I moved to Belgrade due to studying, but Paracin is still my town! :D

We should turn this forum into EX- Yugoslavian, considering there's so many of us :P:D

  4. I wish the press release just called all three of them "classic" members instead of the founder/former thing. Syd Barrett played an important role in the foundation of Pink Floyd, but David Gilmour is the guy that helped them become legends with albums like Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.

Syd Barrett gave the name to the band Pink Floyd, but he founded the group with Waters, Mason and Wright. Gilmour came later and gave them that awesome guitar sound and tone!

Ahh i need to listen to Pink Floyd!!

And Gilmour's voice was amazing. The dude was like a combination of Axl and Slash for GN'R. Iconic as fuck all in one package.

Yeah, like a voice from heaven...

Though, I disagree about Axl-Slash combinaton. The brains behind the operation was clearly Waters

There is a pretty decent argument that Izzy was more of the brains behind GN'R than the other guys. He has proven to be the most prolific songwriter of the bunch over the last 30 years. Axl and Slash are iconic for their singing and guitar playing more than anything else. Gilmour is the total package in that regard.

I understand what you're saying. It just feels a little weird correlating Pink Floyd and GnR :D They are totally different tipes of bands, the whole dynamics, the relationship between the members, music, everything! And I love both bands of course :D

  6. What I would really love right now is an outer show of friendliness. Some warmth between the members. Some excitement. Only if it's genuine, of course. But it would be reassuring.

It wouldn't have to be much. A jokey tweet between Axl and Slash, or Axl and Duff. An "I'm really looking forward to this". Something that indicates that they're feeling joy at their reunion, or regrouping, or whatever they want to call it.

Right now, it all feels a bit cold, and purely business like. Though that may just be me... Maybe I am expecting too much. Still, I've always found that the more fun the band seems to be having, the better their performances.

No, thats not just you. Its ALL we ask for (I mean, besides Izzy, Steven and Matt lol). Seriously, all you gotta do is send a tweet that you're excited and add their names. Hell, I'd even settle for a Hey @Slash from Axl with Slash answering Hey @AxlRose back. I mean, could you imagine how much a small fucking gesture that would look like to us?!

Once again, its odd Axl hasn't mentioned Slash's name, and Slash hasn't done the same towards Axl. I don't think thats reading too much into things.

Thanks. I am glad that I am not the only one feeling that way.

You are right. I would be happy with even as little as a "hey". Such a small, simple word, such a small, simple gesture, but it would have an enormous impact.

It's still early days, I suppose. Hopefully we will have some great moments to come. If the first time we see them together is at Coachella, though, without something like that tiny gesture, then yes, it will be great, and I am sure that many people will be happy, but I'd be worried. I can't quite say why, or define my feelings. The best I can describe it is that I hope that this is more than just a business decision, because what made Guns N' Roses great in the first place was a spark between its members. A certain chemistry that had nothing to do with money. If that chemistry could be reignited, the future of the band looks promising. If not, I could see this regrouping fizzle out quickly.

I guess I want them to truly want this...

The rift between the two was on personal grounds, the reconcilliation was a very personal thing. The guys are long past the time when they would share with the media and the general public how they honestly felt about things. They've learned their lesson with the media and they're sharing nothing these days, just some obvious cliches. They guard their privacy really well. So I don't thing you'll ever get any public tweets regarding each other or anything like this from them, no. Which doesn't mean they're not having the time of their lives between closed doors. We'll just never know. Nor will we know how they reconciled. Actually, I'm pretty sure that questions about that is what makes them refuse all interviews. They just don't want to answer that.

I guess the only way we'll know how things are btween them is when we see them together and draw our own conclusions. And since they're keeping very low it might be no sooner than when the tour starts...

That said, I'm really missing the times when they would do interviews and share their thoughts and emotions as openly as they did in the old days... Now their interviews are boring as hell. But unfortunately, that is not coming back I'm afraid.

    100% agree

The way you present yourself on social media usually has nothing to do with the way you really are. I know people who act on social media as if they are best friends and everything which is nowhere near what they are in real life. That said I would rather see an interview of of them together, than a tweet or something similar.

  7. Good to see lurkers signing up! I hadn't posted for ages until today - my times of reading and contributing to GNR forums since 1996 seemed to be behind me... but here we are!! Exciting times once again!

So, being in the UK, this will air at 4.30 am - Do you think this'll be available to watch on youtube or some other download/stream by the time I get up (6.30ish)? Or are most of you maniacs getting up at 4.30am to watch live???

It'll be aired at 5:30am where I live, and I'm definitely getting up that early. No way I'm gonna miss it!!! NO SLEEP :D
