  1. It is so amusing how much faith people put into Merck's comments....

You know....there once was this manager named Merck who called Eddie Trunk a liar when he claimed to have played IRS on the air. As soon as IRS leaked on the internet, was there an "ooops" or a "I must have been mistaken"? No, just a "please don't share this file because the band doesn't want you to".

In other words, he tells you what he wants you to think, not what is the complete truth.

What about all the shitty rumours he clears up for us, The supposed shows, bandmembers leaving, he is nice enough to clear up any speculation. In my opinion when he said 2005 was the year of guns n roses he was sincere in what he said, only it took a bit longer to get everything moving.

As for the IRS leak i dont much about it so cant really comment, but hey maybe he said it wasnt played to stop over eager fans going out of there way to get a 3 minute poor quality copy of a kick ass song? Which means he done so in the interest of the fans!

If I recall correctly, it was Dizzy who said BucketHead had not been a part of the band since the December prior to his "departure". And when Merck was asked once about BucketHead's "out of the band" rumor....he denied it. He only confirmed it later. So who is to say his word is gold? It's only gold when AXL confirms it(RIR excuse).

And it isn't logical to think that Merck does things in the interest of the fans. He is an employee to GNR, NOT the fans. He denied the radio leak why? Confirming the song played on the radio doesn't have anything to do with the MP3. He will do what AXL wants first(denying the radio leak and then trying to limit the mp3's spread.), what he wants to do second, and the fans come third. It is fanclubs that serve the fans, NOT management.

All I am saying is that asking Merck won't get you a 100% believeable answer. The only true confirmation will come from AXL himself.

What about the rumour of CD being mastered, The club in Atlanta reporting GNR were playing, When Brain supposedly left. These are all things Ive seen on the boards, Bucket leaving I only remember the statement, however maybe Dizzy knew bucket was unhappy and wanted to leave but nothing had been set yet.

Without Merck to clear up the rumours we'd still be wondering who was in the band, whats being mastered, if IRS was real and talking about how a good few of us turned up at a hoax gig in Atlanta.

As for the IRS leak I was putting a good spin on it as Ive said the two examples you gave I cant really comment on except to give my views.

  4. He's looking good for his age, maybe he celebrated his birthday in New York and stayed around for a bit?

On the other hand his shirt is horrible, i thought he was carrying some sort of purse to begin with but its actually part of the shirt! :scared:

Why whats on his shirt...I acnt really make out what it is

see the bottom right corner of the pic a few posts above /\? its a patch of that pattern on the front of his shirt.

  6. Word on the street is the original lineup is playing a few select cities(very small clubs, under 200 people) across the US at the end of Feb. I don't believe it, but that is the word on the street.

Do you have informants that you meet on park benches wearing a trenchcoat hat and sunglasses?

    Also, what street?

  7. Ive been here a while but my post count is still rather low, I visit the site a lot but only post now and then. I believe some people post with the belief that post count = respect in some sense. It makes no difference to me if it were to stay or go.

Look at the criteria to be a mod, something about posting regular quality posts, you have to find a happy medium. There is a point to be made there but im not sure what it is.

    uh oh

Go buy Wolfmothers album to tied you over..... I donno if it's released overseas... But it fuckn rules!

    Over

I think they are rumoured to play the leeds festival this year so Ill try get to see them, Any songs I should check out?

  8. yeah...the point is taht is the same intro.Who stole what i dont care, but it is the same...maybe slash is a stealer...wouldnt suprise me at all....the songs arent exactly like,....the original hasnt that intro...i was just listning to it..maybe you have another one guys..

Did you read my post? I tried to help.

I think you should download all both the police and puff daddy versions then post again when youve listened to them.

  9. ...to get Axl and Slah in the same room together?

    what would happen?

    or not happen?

    Your thoughts...

    A Pardox would happen,

A paradox is an apparently true statement or group of statements that seems to lead to a contradiction or to a situation that defies intuition. Typically, either the statements in question do not really imply the contradiction, the puzzling result is not really a contradiction, or the premises themselves are not all really true (or, cannot all be true together). The recognition of ambiguities, equivocations, and unstated assumptions underlying known paradoxes has led to significant advances in science, philosophy and mathematics.

  10. Diffrent drinks, diffrents opinions...buts i think Puff daddys thaught that SCOM was so fuckin awesome taht he found out that he could use it. And he has in a sort of way,,..

    Your all muddled matey,

Puff Daddy done a cover and put his own spin on The Police Song - Everybreath You Take,

In his version he used the same concept but modified the lyrics in order to pay tribute to Notorious B.I.G.

The Police released the origional in 1983

My opinion is that Slash heard the song or it was in his head at somepoint and was just messing about with the tune in his head, or its a coincidence.

I dont know alot about rap but i think thats right?

  11. Why hasn't anyone posted the quote from Axl in the latest interview?
"Every time there's a big festival announced, we get rumored to be on there" - "But we'll see what happens."

That applies to this thread so intensley. Right now it is a rumour so just leave it.

    MY POSTS, THERE INVISIBLE!!!!!

  12. Its only talking about the fastest selling british rock debut album, a pretty small genre. It's just a way of creating media hype, get all the radio stations to mention this fact and boom they are the hottest thing around.

They released a catchy tune with terrible lyrics, trendy kids buy this shit up. It seems to happen every year, 2004 franz ferdinand, 2005 the killers, some indie band is rammed down our throats in the first quater of the month.

There first song, look at some of the lyrics, yeah the tune is catchy but it just proves people dont pay attention to the expression of music.

Stop making the eyes at me, I'll stop making the eyes at you

And what it is that surprises me is that I don't really want you to

And your shoulders are frozen (cold as the night)

Oh, but you're an explosion (you're dynamite)

Your name isn't Rio, but I don't care for sand

And lighting the fuse might result in a bang, b-b-bang, go!

I bet that you look good on the dancefloor

I don't know if you're looking for romance or

    I don't know what you're looking for

Well, I bet that you look good on the dancefloor

Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984

    From 1984!

I wish you'd stop ignoring me, because it's sending me to despair

Without a sound, yeah, you're calling me, and I don't think it's very fair

That your shoulders are frozen (cold as the night)

Oh, but you're an explosion (you're dynamite)

Your name isn't Rio, but I don't care for sand

    From 1984!

Oh, there ain't no love, no Montagues or Capulets

Are just banging tunes and DJ sets and...

Dirty dancefloors, and dreams of naughtiness!

Well, I bet that you look good on the dancefloor

I don't know if you're looking for romance or

    I don't know what you're looking for

I said, I bet that you look good on the dancefloor

Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984

    From 1984!

Infact its just a catchy chorus, this is meant to be british rock? Bollocks

  13. Hasn't this been said in the main topic about it?

Not much need to start a new thread.

He said we'd hear some music, which is alot more than we've heard in the past 3 years (unless you count the IRS leak).

The man himself gave us information (maybe brief, but still information) on how the album is coming along.

He hinted at a possible festival appearance.

Now although, he never said anything about an actual release, he certainly implied the wheels are in motion, and may be picking up speed over the coming year.

Weve went 3 years without any news at all, within the first month of the 4th year, weve been given hope.

Im not expecting an album, but I am expecting something by time 2006 is out.
