I read a quote from Axl in 2006 where he mentioned Slash, saying "I love the guy, but we haven't talked in the past 10 years"
I'm wondering why he would say he loves Slash and then, years later, go on to call him a "cancer..." and say things like "one of us will be dead before a reunion", "not in this lifetime", ect.
I had no idea that Axl was feeling any love for Slash in 2006. I really hope that someday... we get the full story on what happened between them, and why it took so long to bury the hatchet. I'm surprised that Slash didn't reach out to Axl in 2006, surely he was aware of the quote.
Because Slash was telling fibs... is that not common knowledge?
"He just feels that Slash has burned him and told all of these lies in the press..."

What happen?
Apparently he was abrasive/abusive, to the point that band members and management were pushing Axl to dump Tommy, though I'm sure a potential reunion played into the management side of things. Bumblefoot has talked about the abuse he received when he joined, though I don't think he called anyone out by name. And then at some point Tommy threw down his bass, yelled fuck you at Axl and walked offstage. Allegedly.

That's not how royalties work the band don't pay royalties to play covers live. Period.
True, but the venue does.

OK, so let's think about a "Fighter Pilot" for a few seconds...
A fighter pilot is a military guy that handles some serious shit and kicks some serious ass. He doesn't necessarily get PAID a whole lot of money for this heavy and honorable work.
Once the "Fighter Pilot" leaves the military, he can get hired into the commercial world and work for a HUGE corporation and make some LARGE money.
A "Fighter Pilot" has integrity and valor and honor.
A "Commercial Pilot" is considered a sell-out.
Do I have to spell it out any more for you all? I repeat:
IZZY IS THE FUCKING MAN.
Fighter pilots are actually really well-paid. Now let's think about this for a few seconds...
Izzy couldn't be bothered to show up to the studio to work on 'his' own UYI songs.
Izzy got a cut of EVERYTHING GnR produced for 6 years after he left the band while contributing nothing.
When he was hired to fill in on tour for Gilby for a few weeks, Izzy didn't bother rehearsing or even learning his owns songs.
Izzy started his own band and then stopped showing up.
Izzy REJECTED the offer to guest on the tour because he wanted MORE money and status
Izzy posts tweets taking passive-aggressive shots at his friends/former bandmates
Conclusion: Izzy is not the man.

The outro is a tribute to Lennon and an indictment of the author for writing what i feel is utter garbage and I agree whole heartedly that it should be discontinued as required reading in schools. That's my take, I could be completely wrong, I do realize that the song and title could have the next poor soul reading the book and feeling inspired to make an unfortunate statement. So there's the catch I guess.

Axl's talking about the book (Catcher in the Rye) as "utter garbage", not slagging his own song

I don't know what is worse, DJ's guitar playing or the fact that he thinks he actually played in GNR.
It is called Axl Band.
Nah, you're confused. It is Axl's band; it's called Guns N' Roses

Definitely not. His whole deal is that he's helping out, not replacing Brian.
Judging by comments from the band and Axl himself, that doesn't necessarily seem to be the case

Maybe just a bit of a power play by Axl. To show the boys that he is still in charge. He will go to 20 rehearsals and play with another band while the guys in GnR will rehearse without him and they will have to sit back and wait for him to get finished with his side project.
To be fair, the situations aren't really comparable... it's a band he's never played with and songs he's never sung

What I meant was that when Slash joined Michael Jackson on stage and on some songs, Axl got pissed off, as it was a betrayal by Slash.
That was a rumor started by Doug Goldstein, and it's BS.

I think he said in the TMZ interview it would take a couple of weeks. Plus it's just impossible that it's healed and he's up in less than 4 weeks.
According to the video with the orthopod (posted 4/8), the plan was to start putting weight on it after 4 weeks so I'm guessing the cast is either going shortly or already gone. They'll probably switch to a removable soft cast or some such

This is correct.. Izzy wasn't running around on stage enough for Axl.
Izzy also didn't show up to the studio, video shoots, rehearsals or to do press and was no longer writing with the band. It wasn't just Axl who was ticked.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this topic! Not sure what subforum it would belong in...
But have you guys ever noticed that during the UYI tour, Axl seemed to never introduce Slash when he introduced the rest of the band? The band introductions from Tokyo, Paris and one other place (I think it was Chicago) are available on youtube and Axl always skips Slash. Do you guys think this was a respect thing like "you're a main man too so you don't need an introduction like me", or was it because they already hated each other to the point where Axl couldn't even utter his name during the intro? Hate to bring this up when things seem to be going so well with GNR now, but I'm curious!Slash was usually introduced separately - before a solo section or a showy intro - but he was alwasys introduced

Eddie talks with Steven, regularly text each other. That's a pretty good source Marc talks with Slash and probably Duff too. Good sources. Game. Set. Match.
Yeah but again, Marc didn't even know Axl & Slash were speaking, much less planning a reunion. Just like with Vicky Hamilton, this may be intentional disinformation...or it may not.

Adler texted canter about it...he showed a member of this forum the text when she visited his deli a day or two before the Vegas shows. I believe he also posted something in Canters corner about it.
one of the girls from the iron maidens said he had surgery the day or the Troubador show.
Trunk wasn't at the Troub show, I swear I saw a tweet saying he has confirmed it in Vegas, but I cannot find it.
Curiouser & curiouser...
Catcher in The Rye is the best song from any GN'R member following UYI 1 and 2
