ANY political statements. One would think "leave politics out of their act" means I prefer they leave politics out of their act.

SO I guess they should stop playing Civil War, Knocking on Heavens Door, Jungle, Chinese Democracy , Out Ta Get Me...  Dozens of GnR songs have politics in them.

GnR fans complaining about GnR bashing trump is as ridiculous as when Paul Ryan said Rage Against the Machine was one of his favorite bands.

Do you even LISTEN to the music you claim to love?

A lot of you seem to be missing the point that Trump is PERCEIVED to be the anti-establishment candidate. They are so sick of being fucked over by BOTH parties.

That's why they're angry when their favorite SEEMINGLY anti-establishment rock band trashes an effigy of him.

And if that was Obama hanging by a rope they would be getting crucified by the media right now.

And N Sync was PERCEIVED to be a great band.

It's not up to intelligent people to cater to the horrible taste of dumbasses.

You tell them they're being dumbasses and explain why.  But trump voters, like N Sync fans, have no interest in hearing your logical explanations.  They have their choice and theyre sticking to it.

Finally, it's fucking laughable when people like Richard Fortus and Del James go on Twitter and attack Donald Trump for being 'sexist' or 'bigoted' or whatever... all the while participating in a band where half of their songs DEGRADE WOMEN.

    It's so rich of them.

I'm sorry... I was hanging on by a thread with this band.  Artists, including musicians and actors, should keep their mouths fucking shut.  They live in a bubble and everytime someone like Del James or now, Axl Rose, opens his mouth, it really goes to show how incredibly stupid and brainwashed they really are.  It's embarrassing.  Not to mention GNR is now alienating half of it's fanbase.  Most of which is too scared to come on here and speak their mind because they know they'll get flamed by left-wing-worshipping ass holes... who don't even know what they're talking about.

I was so excited about this reunion, but GNR won't get a dime of my money ever again.  I've pretty much lost all interest.  Especially in hypocritical comments made by people associated with this band.  Axl Rose is the one who sang about fa**ots and ni**ers, not Donald Trump.   Axl Rose and his band, and the hangers-on (Del James... a nobody without GNR's success), are the ones who degrade women every night they go onstage with their lyrics.

In fairness, I have to hand it to Slash, Dizzy and Duff.  They're at least keeping their mouths (and Twitter feeds) shut about politics.  Duff's article (I think on some place called 'noisey') that came out the other day was very thoughtful.

At the end of the day though, count me out, GNR.   Bunch of hypocrites.

Axl should focus on giving GNR fans 100% like he gave AC/DC fans, and forget about politics.  He sounds like crap on most songs with GNR (Mickey).

Musicians should keep their mouths shut?  We'd be missing a lot of lyrics and melody.  Maybe you like the sound of humming?  Or maybe you just like musicians to say what YOU want them to say.

And BTW when axl sang about "f*ggots and n*ggers" he was doing so from the fictional persona of a bigot.  You know - like how an actor can PORTRAY a nazi in a film without actually BEING a nazi themselves in real life?  And in that song, Axl was commenting and satirizing on the stupid mentality of the type of people  who ended up voting for trump.  But if you're a trump supporter, things like satire probably go way over your head.

  4. I think the NFL is now making artists PAY THEM for the privilege of playing the superbowl.  I can't imagine GnR doing that.

If they offered a ton of money to GnR however, I could see it happening.  But the NFL is all about money, and I don't know why they'd pay money to GnR when they can get paid by gwen stefani or some other shitty act instead.

Guys, it's a really easy solo to play note for note, but that's not the point. Slash is gonna Slash.

We know he's awesome and can write great solos, it just doesn't seem like he's bothered to do that with the CD songs.  He neither learned the album solos or wrote awesome solos of his own for them.  He just kind of shreds aimlessly over them.

Plus those solos on CD were written in a way that fit and complemented the song.  If he's not going to write something better, he's hurting the song by not learning the album versions and replacing them with aimless noodling.

  6. I was at the Friday vegas concert.  I loved seeing slash play the CD songs, but I can't say he made them better than the album versions.

The solos in those songs were very melodic on the album, carefully composed and written to complement the song.

When slash plays them he doesn't seem to try very hard to re-create the album version.  He does much more generic slash-style shredding and noodling that didn't seem to have much memorable melody to them.   I wish he had tried harder to play them like they are on the album, and maybe do a slight twist to make them his own, instead of just aimless guitar wanking all over them.  I wonder if it bugs axl, because you know he was such a perfectionist about CD that he got those solos recorded as they were on purpose.  I can't imagine he'd accept random shredding on the album versions.

All that aside, I'm still thrilled slash and duff are back and i hope to hear new recorded material soon.

  7. SO I was at the show last night.  I'll give my brief feedback.

The arena sold seats to rows that didn't exist.  We ended up in a row of folding chairs on an upper deck but I was just glad to be in the building.

So great seeing axl and slash together again.  Bummer about axl's foot.  Really hurt the show, but considering the circumstances, it was still awesome.

Amazing energy through the set.  The classic songs were amazing.  Coma and estranged were highlights.  Loved civil war.  Slash can still jump around the stage when he needs to.  Axl looked younger and thinner than he has lately somehow, which was awesome.

Only complaints would be Duff playing NEW ROSE was a little messy and boring.  Lot so people headed for the bathroom. I wish the big video screen had shown more shots of the band instead of the screensaver artwork they were displaying.

The ChiDem songs were cool, but Slash didn't always try to recreate the solos on the album.  He kind of did his own slash-style guitar noodling, and it often wasn't very melodic and didn't compliment the songs very well.  I didn't get the impression he was trying to make those songs as good as possible, more that he was doing them out of obligation.  The solos on ChiDem sound all very carefully composed and written to compliment the songs and I was hoping slash would learn them as they are on the album and maybe do a slight twist to make them his own.  Instead he seemed to just do a lot of fancy shredding and guitar wanking on them and the songs suffered a little because of it.  I hope they improve over time.

I was also hoping to hear Dont Cry, Madagascar, and some new songs.  I think they could retire Patience and KOHD and I wouldn't miss them much.

Overall, so glad I went.  Totally worth the money. I'll try to see them again on this tour.

  8. Staying in the NY NY casino next to the arena.  As I took a dump in my hotel room's bathroom, I could hear ESTRANGED playing through the vents from somewhere else.

This hotel is like GnR comicon today.

After I checked in last night I came down to the lobby to get a drinks and discovered the MYGNR meetup happening there just by coincidence!

Bummer about axl's foot.  But at least they're still playing.

The thing about Axl's voice, is whether it's down to his weight or not. He clearly isn't going to change.

I really thought that he would. But once that pic of him with Slash's daughter came out, the writing was on the wall. He either can't or won't improve things. Even if Steven and Izzy were back, he would still sing like that and be the same size.

From what we've seen, the vocal performance wasn't full on Mickey, he was mostly good. So maybe efforts have been made, but the Mickey voice is now part of how he sings. Unless they put out new material that better suits his current voice, this is it.

Well he bloated up prior to 2001, and then trimmed down somewhat, so I've been hoping he would trim down again.  But he's apparently a man who likes his indulgences - sushi, steak, beer, etc.  I guess we all have our vices.  Slash had opioids, axl has carbs and sugars and fats.

But the "it's because hes old" excuse doesn't cut it.  Steven Tyler, Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop, and many others have shown you don't HAVE to let yourself go as you get older.

Some people just decide they get more pleasure out of gluttony than they get out of being healthy and in shape.

  10. My thoughts and feelings?

    A bit muted.

I'm 39.  For a few decades of my life, this news would have melted my brain and sent me over the moon.  Even up to about 2009.

But then when axl didn't do any press or videos or support for ChiDem, I kind of finally let my GnR balloon deflate.  If he didnt care enough to support his work, why should I?

I'm seeing their first show in vegas, because I feel like I owe it to my 17 year old self who never got to see them together live.  But I wish I still had the same enthusiasm for GnR as I did even 8 years ago.  I hope axl can still sing.  I hope he's lost some weight.  But I no longer hope that they're going to be an influential band again.  I think that ship has sailed.  The best they can hope for is being the world's biggest nostalgia act, and maybe cranking out a few new tunes that won't break into the mainstream because guitar rock is pretty dead today.

I'm glad they're getting along today.  BUT WHY THE FUCK COULDN'T THEY HAVE DONE THIS IN 1999?

    So much wasted time.
