Sorry I don't know what I meant by that...I don't think I meant anything other than It just seemed like something you'd post
I wish they'd get rid of every cover including LALD and KOHD, but you're off to a good start!
lulz......since there has been hardly any Mickey as it is, why would you think that? Oh wait...I forgot you think anything that isn't rasp is Mickey, that explains it
There has been Mickey voice all the way with GNR, just listen to SCOM, Estranged, Coma, YCBM, Paradise City, Jungle etc they all have some moments where his old voice comes through but mostly weak falsetto.
A good way to know when he is singing like he should is when the vocals overpower all instruments, thats the real Axl voice we are all want to hear.
25 minutes ago, Bono said:I swear the reason he's able to sing like this full out with AC/DC is because there are no extended melodies in AC/DC's music. In a way their songs require more of a shouting/singing style rather than a flat out singing style. Look at a song like Back in Black for example and compare it to YCBM. Back in Black requires short quick bursts of vocals where YCBM requires melodies to be held. Same with a song like Rock or Bust compared to SCOM or Thunderstruck compared to Rocket Queen. GnR's music requires Axl to hold notes longer and that's when the Mickey starts creeping in. I swear the AC/DC material is much easier for him to sing cause he's able to shout it out rather than sing it out.
make sense?Makes totally sense! I agree on that, havent thought of it that way before.

The old Axl is fucking back! This second show was better, he doesn't scream as much, his old voice with full body is back. Love the way he sings those middle/low parts with partial "rasp", kind of like what you hear in Don't Damn Me.
I have always heard and felt that he is capable of pulling that off, but he chooses not to with GnR.
GRYM JÄVLA SPELNING och ännu fetare insats av Axl.

So sad.

Wow, how many great drummers here...
Adler is addict - so he can't be GNR drummer
Sorum is robot - so he can't be the one
Brian is the one who started changing AFD and UYI songs so he must not be the one
Spot on!

I would love to hear Axl himself explain the "Mickey" voice, a lot of speculations on this forum. ?

OK, so what did you think of the RRHOF performance?
Pretty good, great to see him with the guys but I'm sitting on needles watching him play, just waiting for him to f-up, it's that kind of feeling I get from watching him play. He play the songs good but that's it.
I just feel like the old Steven is gone, I have looked at a lot of Adlers Appetite vids and he is real good, but not arena/world tour-good. He's having fun I can tell, but seeing him pull off songs like Coma or DTJ is not real, you know what I mean?

The only GN'R song I can think of right now that has hi-hat doodles is Locomotive.
Yeah, that's the only one I can think of also.

So you either changed your mind or typed random words.
You said that Steven played Rocket Queen badly in the drum shop video. Your next post, you agree that he played it 100%. That is our conversation, not wether or not he could play Illusion songs.
(This is the reason why I don't do forums.)
He is tight and hits all strokes right, but the feeling and groove that once was is gone. There is no power left in Stevens drumming and it feels more like guitar hero then real drums.
Just hope that I'm totally wrong, but my taste in drumming is not going to change.

OK, opinions are opinions and there's not much I agree with here, but I am boggled as to why you would say Steven played Rocket Queen bad in the drum store video. If it were on the Guitar Hero game, he would have got 100%. Honestly, it is the Appetite recording perfect. I'm not claiming to be some sort of star drummer, but I have played since I was 13 which is 27 years and when I was 13 I was playing along to the Appetite album night after night.
I know the entire album, which isn't difficult as most Drummer's would know. It's not how difficult it is, it's how you gel with your band mates and come up with beats and fills that suit.
You have no idea what you're saying.
Oh, and the hi-hat and cowbell simultaneously thing is a Steven thing. He does that throughout the Appetite album, including the count in of Nightrain etc. However, not on Think About You.
I agree, he would have had 100% but the he does not have the power anymore. I don't see him playing any UYI songs. I am no hater, just a long time fan an realist. My dream would be to see Steven pull it off, the whole setlist.
Im also a drummer and I know what it's like to play the appetite songs, not as easy as some might think.
The hi hat thing I'm talking about is not the same as you. Listen to the live clip of jungle with frank when he plays the "kn-n-n-n-n-ees part", the hi hat thing with the left hand.
-
I think Frank does a good job, he is defiantly a skilled drummer. His playing on Come was great. He stays true to most of the signature fills and such, that's what matters.
Things I don't like is the way he played don't cry, just to much.
The way he skips the 8th and only plays 4 on the jungle hi hat is just crappy. His hi hat playing while he does cowbell on jungle is pretty cool, it just sound a bit weird when the first stroke doesn't sound as loud as the hi hat. Read that someone complain about that earlier and wrote that he was off beat, but he's not.
Brain was an awful drummer in guns, not at all a rock n roll drummer, CD drummer for sure.
Of course I want to see Steven up there, but can he really play nowadays?
I cant really see him pull off a +2h show, but perhaps a couple of songs here and there. Just look at that clip where he plays rocket queen in that drumstore, it's pretty bad.

Axl sounds pretty good, heard him break mickey-charachter a couple of times at the end of Coma but thats it....

Thanks Fede, it's been great to watch.

Axl is not sounding good... too bad!

Wierd list...
I agree that Bonham deserves the first place, but Jon Theodore should be second, he takes Bonhams style and makes his own signature style. Listen to the first 3 The Mars Volta albums and get blown away!
