People shouldn't be surprised about this. Axl has to please the majority of fans, and the majority of fans are just happy to see the three together again, and want to listen to the old, well known songs. We are talking 95 %+ thinking this way.

That's no longer the case for the younger generations. The novelty of the reunion has worn off almost entirely and the same old, same old won't do it for them anymore. The majority of young fans (GP) have already seen the performances on youtube so they're less and less likely to keep buying tickets for the exact same show for 3 years. I mean come on, they could at least play SOYL or something we haven't heard from UYI, they're digging their own graves.

Fleetwood Mac still have two originals, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, which is only one less than Guns N' Roses's current original ratio (leaving arguments about Tracii Guns aside for another day).

    Fleetwood Mac fits,

    - Have ''(most of) the original lineup'' (three members), and Christine McVie rejoined recently from their most successful aor line-up.

    - ''Something they said they'd never, ever do''? They haven't released an album since 2003, and Stevie Nicks was dismissing the idea of a new album in 2016: https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/7502871/stevie-nicks-24-karat-gold-tour-interview-fleetwood-mac

    - ''Alimony''http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3352818/Fleetwood-Mac-drummer-Mick-set-way-divorce-wife-Lynn-Frankel-finalised.html

    - ''Recent concert money''? They played two big concerts in July 2017 at Dodger Stadium and Citi Field.

    - ''half-hearted collaborative efforts''? Released June 2017,

It is Fleetwood Mac. I'm convinced.

But FM releasing new music doesn't have that hell-freezes-over quality that a new GNR album could have. They've been touring almost constantly since The Dance and all classic members are on civil enough terms. I doubt they'd hide it if they're working on something, and I doubt they'd place an "if you leave, it's over" ultimatum on it. With the AFD5 though, it's a different story and it fits them far more.

They need a spark from their lead singer. I would be bored as fuck at this point if I were a lead guitarist in this band, My lead singer sounding like a tired Mickey every night and the same tired set list. It is getting old.

Exactly. Axl is probably pleased with the positive reaction to Slash being back, and slowly started getting lazier and lazier while passing everything onto him. What he doesn't seem to realize is that Slash can't carry GNR by himself - to 90% of people, the band is the lead singer/guitarist combo.

I'd say I expect an open letter apology penned by Axl soon, but even on the off chance it did happen, it would probably be something like:

'Blah blah technical difficulties blah blah thank you for your continued support blah blah this reunion would not have been possible without you blah blah the band has never felt better...'   and other PR shit like that.

but the majority of Brits regard themselves as non-Europeans, don't they?

Nothing wrong from that perspective then

True, but it's still just an opinion. Whether they or the team GNR regard the UK as part of Europe or not, the fact remains that it is. Well, until Trump brings the nukes over here.

So that tweet is either lack of basic geographical knowledge or a biased opinion. But hey, whatever, it's their account and they can say whatever they want.

In regards to this Piano demo, it really doesn't sound like Axl at all. If all he could play on a Piano was November Rain, either he studied Piano much more between the 80s and 90s or it simply isn't Axl. I used to be a professional Pianist myself and that arrangement of Estranged is very intricate. I really don't think Axl could play anything like that, not to discredit Axl as a Pianist, i actually think he's very overlooked, i just think it's a bit too advanced if all he knew how to play was November Rain.

What are you even talking about? Axl may not be the best piano player in the world, but he can definitely play it decently. What gave you the notion that all he knows is NR when we have tons of videos of him playing other stuff? That's ridiculous.

Kid I been following GN'R since 1989. I think I know alot about GN'R. But when it comes to instrumentals with no lyrics, It can be sketchy. We have to use our brains and teamwork to figure it out.

There's personal bias, and then there's facts. You might wanna check the latter out.

Nothing wrong with joking about Melissa, I'd hardly call it sexist. Shouldn't i say Slash is a sexy and i'd love to do things to him?? Is that me being sexist? There's more women on this forum that want to fuck Slash/Axl/Duff/Izzy than there are men that want to fuck Melissa IMO.

FYI i'm female and have no problem with the jokes. Just saying.

    Peace.

Yeah, if I can say something like "I wonder what else Slash can do with those fingers" then it's perfectly normal for the guys to do those types of jokes with Melissa. It ain't rape, come on.

Izzy helped Slash write Locomotive. Slash said it himsellf in his book.

There is zero evidence that Izzy didnt help with the other tracks. He surely must have helped with something, specially arrangements and song structure.:rofl-lol:

Yes, he probably helped with some of the tracks I listed, but his part was insignificant compared to what he did on YCBM, Patience, the songs he sang, DTJ, Bad Obsession, Pretty Tied Up etc.

The majority of Locomotive was written by Slash, because it sounds so obviously Slash. The rhythm sounds amazing, although I'm not sure if Izzy plays all of it or just parts of it. I think his part is not that big, but I could be wrong. As for the lyrics, it's all Axl and it's amazing stuff.

I remember seeing somewhere that Izzy was so annoyed with the numerous chord progressions in Coma that he didn't even play on that song. Slash wrote it and the band completed it without Izzy. The lyrics, again, are purely Axl.

The credits for Civil War list Axl, Slash and Duff as the main songwriters. Izzy may have helped, but again, insignificantly. Estranged is iconic because of the lead guitar, the lyrics and (for some) the piano. Meaning Axl and Slash (similarly November Rain is GNR's most famous song and had little to do with Izzy).

I'm not trying to demean Izzy's role, because god did he write beautiful and iconic masterpieces and they can never replace him, I'm just saying that GNR have proven they can make wonderful songs without him. Well, in the past, at least.

But seriously, I always thought  Izzy was the balancing factor in the songwriting process - the one preventing that the songs didn't become overly pompous, overproduced clusterfucks.

For me overdoing /overproducing/ more is more -attitude takes the feeling a way from the music and makes it kind of exhausting to listen to.  But that's just my opinion..

Agreed - without Izzy they may not be able to see the forest for the trees. Then again, we can't forget about Duff, who can probably pull off the balancing/straightforward punk role.

But I think it will still be good, great even. Let's not forget some of GNR's greatest masterpieces (Coma, Locomotive, Estranged, Civil War etc) had nothing to do with Izzy.
